  2. The thickness is close, but a bit off; especially when viewed from a side profile. If it was possible to bevel the inside of the rep crystal or something in order to give it the illusion of another, thicker layer similar to the gen, that would be ideal. Before simple, cheap & quick mods, I'd say 75-80%, After--95%.
  3. Quick reference/pictoral guide to the differenc between the new Sea Dweller rep & the Gen. Of course, i didn't buy it, I just picked it up. And here's a little goodie the post-man brought me today... So I get the newest Sea Dweller in today, and modded the CGs, lubed & water-proofed it to at least 6 ATMS, replaced the insert & pearl (filed it just a bit too low to expose the crystal a bit more, but have a gen insert on the way), sized it, polished the bracelet, rounded the edges, etc. Here's a no-frills comparison between the new modded model and the gen SD--gen on white, rep on beige. I'll post a more thorough review as soon as I get it regulated & the gen insert (and when there's more light out...). Enjoy! Even before the mods, it still wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I do agree with By-Tor, that the rehaut/crystal/gasket area could use some work. but honestly not disappointing once on the wrist. I also added a gen diver's extension (note the black link-screw): Here's it's cousin, my Sub:
  4. How did you get a copy of my letter?
  5. A word of caution--there are crowns that "fit" tubes, but the sizes don't match properly in order for the gaskets to seal. Can you pressure test it to see if the rep tube's O-rings seal properly (i.e. water-tight) to the gen crown? Thanks.
  6. No, it doesn't. It's all about the angles; keep in mind you're shooting with a macro setting, not telephoto, so angles are going to naturally be exaggerated.
  7. In case any of the tracks were DRM protected, a new, corrected download link has been posted. :)And you're more than welcome.
  8. An earlier-than-usual start for most, the trees aren't even for sale yet, I know; this will make a fun present to pull out & play when putting up the decorations--only a few weeks away! Here's a zip file of a mix-CD I put together, that my girl and I have been listening to, for the past few years. The tracks change a bit with each passing Christmas, but basically stay the same. I've tried to incorporate some lesser-known pieces that haven't been played to death over the air-waves, a few that aren't technically Christmas tunes but for personal reasons still feel as such, and perhaps a few proverbial songs, but hopefully performed slightly differently than what you're used to. I certainly hope this will put one in the Christmas spirit, if you aren't getting there already. I've put them in MP3 format & uploaded it using Rapidshare, so simply click the link below, then click "Free" at the bottom, wait for the countdown, enter the code it gives you, then download it to your hard-drive. 17 tracks in all. http://rapidshare.com/files/67936891/2007_Christmas.zip.html The "Christmas spirit", "Season of giving", "Holiday joy"--whatever you prefer to call it, I have a feeling this Holiday season will be an exceptionally good one, and sincerely hope it will be for everyone else, as well. A sense of happiness & contentment tends to make one feel a bit less selfish, and hope that others will enjoy themselves, reveling in the same; to take part in a little more caring, a little more giving, and hopefully a little more understanding. Perhaps it's just habit for us to only concentrate on selflessness and sharing around this particular time of year, but I truly think it's a noble thing to do--perhaps even virtuous--to always reflect on the trials and tribulations that many have faced this year (including some of our very own members), and hopefully come out a bit more compassionate and wiser for it in the end. So here's a little something in hopes of kicking off that wonderful feeling, and hopes that '08 will see a brighter & better year for all of us, the world over. Take care; I hope you guys & gals enjoy, and have a very, merry Christmas!! 1) Good Morning Blues, Ella Fitzgerald 2) Christmas Time Is Here, Dianna Krall 3) I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm, Billie Holiday 4) Boogie Woogie Santa Claus, The Lionel Hampton Orchestra 5) Dig That Crazy Santa Claus, Ralph Marterie 6) Santa Baby, Madonna 7) Hey Santa!, Chris Isaak The Christmas Blues, Dean Martin 9) La Valse D'AMelie, Yann Tiersen 10) Carol of the Bells, Harlem Boys Choir 11) Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, Frank Sinatra 12) Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairy, Tchaikovsky (from the Nutcracker Suite) 13) I Saw Three Ships, Nat King Cole 14) Caroling, Caroling, Nat King Cole 15) Silent Night, Nat King Cole 16) Ave Maria, Luciano Pavarotti 17) The Christmas Song, Frank Sinatra & Nat King Cole
  9. To answer: 1) Yes--it's a true aftermarket, not a rep insert & has a gen-style pearl with the clear varnish. 2) Gorilla glue works best--use sparingly, as it multiplies in size while drying. All non-rep inserts might require a little sanding to get it to fit. If a bit of glue seeps out, just remove it gently with a Q-tip & nail-polish remover. 3) Yes--from my personal experience that's a known seller who sells rep inserts as "aftermarket"--(note his location). His pearls do not come with clear varnish & the lume is pathetic. You can also write Josh or Andrew & get a rep insert off them for next to nothing. It will have the stock pearl with no varnish, but shouldn't require sanding to attach.
  10. Is the crystal etching on this rep made of dots or solid lines, when under the loupe?

  12. Wouldn't buy either one of them--those SELs scream fake from 100 feet.
  13. Drying with UV is crystal glue--not sure if you can get it thick enough for pearl use, as it thins out & blends in too much. Try GS Hypo cement. You'll need to do it under a mag loupe with a steady hand; don't worry if you botch it up--you can take a Q-tip dipped in nail polish to remove the wet hypo-cement. It's worked good on older my pearl's, but it really is worth the $ just to buy the already-varnished pearl inserts: https://www.watchmaterial.com/viewitem.asp?...eRange=0x999999
  14. Anyone who has one on the way, please post a clear-as-possible macro pic of the dial print. I'd like to see if it's the same quality as the Noobmariner--looks a bit blurred in these pics. rep gen Other than that--this is so damn close, it's beautiful. I just ordered a couple for Xmas! Check out the new rep next to the gen:
