ETA 2824 or ETA2836-2 for the superocean
Daytona4me replied to zinberg's topic in The Breitling Area
I wonder why someone would put a 2836 (day/date) in a watch that only displays date (not that it has not been done before), it is an unnecessary complication. They are both quality ETA movements, either would do just fine imo. -
Here is some ETA data that many of us google for. I made it a picture so everyone can simply right click and save to your local computer for easy reference. Hope it helps, I plan to add more, ETA's in Gens data, hell... If I get around to it I'll try to add aprox price too.

I will soon receive a Porsche Design Flat 6 and if what I hear and see is correct, this should be one of the best non Rolex,Breitling,IWC, Omega,Panerai replicas made! Hate to hype it up before it arrives but DAMN, it has so many things to like about it.

looking at the context that duff is used in I would imagine he is saying that he has not had a "bad" or "bum" or "non working" watch from him.
-
Thanks for the kind words guys... it's fun to take nice pictures and even more fun to share them with friends. I cant wait to update it with my Porsche Design... The reason I like this hobby so much is because of the variety and the availability.

hehe,, I got the Black Dial w/white subdials just like yours. I cant wait.. I'm all giddy.. LOL..

Porsche Flat 6 / Grey Dial
Daytona4me replied to lanikai's topic in The Two R's Watch Reviews - Lani & Ubi
I have the Black Dial one coming... of course I will do a review on it once it's received. For me, this was a replacement for my other desire which was a Corum AC C but after trying it on in Las Vegas I realize that it is probably a touch larger than what I would be comfortable with. I am really excited about getting this watch as it will be the sportiest one in my collection. I guess outside my HBB stainless steel I would consider this a bold purchase for me. Thanks for the sneak peak lanikai -
Damn, someone posted a picture of an ugly ass watch and my computer broke! If you get this message, please send new glasses and a new puter for my addiction! I found that cat who's laying claim to that watch!

I'll bet Ken can get some knock off brushes , you can try them all!

Help me clarify....do Chinese movements have Swiss stamps/markings?
Daytona4me replied to donce's topic in The Panerai Area
I think we kid ourselves sometimes about what we think we are getting out of China. Look at the Sleven, the Cousteau, the BCE , the SFSO, UPO, etc... but they cant figure out how to do a simple ETA stamp.... yeah..... right! I saw Santa Claus in the mall last week, so he MUST be real! -

Dont run with this yet, I was a little shocked when I saw it too.. This is the first time I've seen this. -

Daytona4me replied to donce's topic in The Panerai Area
I was looking at some of the pre-v movements on p-sti and I ran across this picture,, look at the tapered spokes on the balance wheel, this was a tall tell sign of an asian movement,, but here it is sitting on a genuine pre-v movement. anyway, point of posting this is that I too thought it looked like an old swiss movement. edit: I dont understand this comment above, you can find incabloc or novodiac on ETA movements, I think it is simply a matter of preference for the watchmaker. I think you will find more Incabloc on 6497 than you will novodiac -
Two Heartaches one night, what more can a man handle.
Daytona4me replied to TWP's topic in The Panerai Area
I asked him the same thing on RWI.. it made sense after he explained it. I think my question to him was about "plumed" which apparently is "prince" lumed because some of his work was done by vaccume "vaclumed"... Hell.. I just want a GLH-umed "glows like hell" Destro looks nice prince, not my cup of tea but maybe someones. -

What he said ^ also would help to stop the balance wheel. -
I'm sorry, I too have an off forum link. this is probably the best tutorial I've ever seen on strap making. It was done by guncross this time last year on RWI http://www.replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewt...=54&t=13344 edit: That is part one above. Part two is here: http://www.replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewt...=54&t=13353

probably not. I know the newer asian pams have been coming out with a taller canon pinion. The lume ... probably be just your average lume.

Review: Patek Philippe Nautilus "Jumbo" (Chinese)
Daytona4me replied to Daytona4me's topic in Other Watch Reviews
Oh yeah... right.. I'm not that good... I've take a few tips from pugwash, by-tor and you. I really do not know my equipment well enough to do great pictures yet and I do not have any knowledge of photoshop so I rely on Picasa. It does ok I guess. Thanks for all the kind words. @PZ, I "assumed" (we all know where that get's us) that Patek does special order dials. I got this opinion after reading this add http://www.thewatchguru.co.uk/Vintagewatches.asp?pn=9 (if you go to the middle of the page you will see an 18K white gold model which says "factory special order diamond dial" which is proof IMO that Patek will do this for a customer (at a large price I'm sure!). edit: @Pix, I have not resized the bracelet (the presidents fit perfectly, and I have not decided if I will keep this, I've been on a buying spree,, you see within the next 1-2 weeks..lol) @PZ again.. lol.. I have not put it on a watch winder, I swear, I dont think any of mine do wind both directions.. I've had problems with each one of them & I'll have to look at the clasp better.. Maybe I'll take some more pictures. -
The Watch: Patek Philippe "Jumbo" Nautilus (Chinese) The Movement: Swiss ETA 2824-2 The Choice: I wanted a simple but elegant watch to give as a gift to the president of our company. He does not like a lot a busy dial nor does he like how large any of my Panerai or UPO are. I chose to purchase a second one in the event that I really liked it in person this way I could keep it for myself or use as a raffle on RWI (either way, a good investment..lol). The Dealer: TWP a.k.a. thewatchprince a.k.a watchgroup.net, He had very good communication throughout the entire process. I gave him very little time to obtain these before the Holiday, honestly I did not think they would reach me in time but I received them on Dec 24th. Thanks TWP! Specific Qualities which appealed to me: Swiss ETA 2824-2 Movement Case shape with rounded hinges Sapphire Crystal The way the diamond markers match the contour of the octagonal bezel at each position The hands which are not to big and not to small. The use of brushed and polished stainless steel used throughout the watch (bracelet and bezel). The recessed crown which is nestled within the "lip" on the crown side. A less busy dial with the use of diamond markers as apposed to stick markers. A size which exemplifies bold & beautiful instead of big and loud. Some specifics: Weight: 4.46oz or 126.5 grams Measurements: Ear to Ear: 42.03mm Length of each Ear: 15.31 Crystal to case back thickness: 9.43mm Diameter of Bezel: 38.35mm Outside lug to Outside lug: 26.07mm Width of bracelet insert into case: 13.16 Bracelet at it's skinniest point (bottom near clasp): 16mm Side notes: As member: Pix mentioned, you have to see this blue dial for yourself, no picture does it justice. I think some members have a misconception about these dials, they think that it is a dark to light design when in fact it is faceted so that it gives the same multi-color look no matter what angle you view it from. This was a big benefit for me as a dial which refracts a beautiful array of blue regardless of viewing angle. In my research of this diamond dial version it appears that these may have been a "special order only" version. Quick Fact: (edited for clarity) The new genuine Jumbo comes in a 43mm x 38mm case as apposed to replica version which is an accurate "Original" version at 42mm x 38mm in size. The new genuine Jumbo's have a sapphire crystal case back and a screw down crown which these replicas do not have. It should also be noted that a genuine Caliber 315 S C movement as found in the original and new genuine Jumbo has 29 Jewels and beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour. edit: New, very quick pictures added below
