You have to find something thin (like a razor blade) but usually a nice thin screwdriver, something that you can use to lever and carefully pry the two halves apart. Be careful not to slice your finger off with a razor blade, but on the same note, be careful that you do not ruin the dial by carelessly shoving a screwdriver and prying with great force.

Not trying to threadjack with my own picture... but figured it is along the same lines. Took a good picture of the Grand Canyon .... and the stratosphere.

I am just now trying to do my own luming, I am using One-Dip to soak the bottom plate which disolves the lume, I wipe off after 10 minutes and apply my own. The Zigmeister's method works for him but a novice (or below novice for me) will have the lume too thick and the top dial will not sit correctly on the bottom plate, this will cause all kinds of problems... and thus,, I choose to remove it. See.. I'm an expert now... I have lumed 2 shitty dials.. and now I'm giving advice.. LOL... but I do think it is accurate to a degree.. I'm sure I'll be corrected if not.

Lume Shots *Beware* Photo Over-Exposures Lie!
Daytona4me replied to Daytona4me's topic in General Discussion
Well, since I started this thread showing my first lume attempt I might as well post my 2nd lume attempt. And I did not over expose the shots! Each taken over a couple minutes. -
Proactive Measures .. Modders, Collectors, Scammers

Wow.. I was kind of agreeing with you.. I was hoping this thread would get somewhere with people offering real options as apposed to just opinions.. my comments were for everyone who might post after you, and after me... hoping you and I both would not come back to a 10 page opinion fest as apposed to actually getting somewhere finding a way to "certify" (in my words, certify a Swiss, Asian, etc..) I guess I have no clue what you are talking about with regards to advertising for The Zigmeister.. being banned , and other people being banned.. etc... etc.. ??????? Really.. no clue. Maybe I missed something somewhere in a thread. As far as having TWP in my review for the Porsche Flat-6, I thought stating where it was purchased from is part of most reviews, I was simply trying to follow the different formats that others have set forth because I'm just starting to try and do decent reviews as apposed to blurry cellphone cam shots. Apparently I have offended you somehow.... I'll bow out now.. Offshore, TwoTone, Kenberg, cornerstone... someone... feel free to delete my posts... it is obviously taken WAY out of context by one.. it's only a matter of a time before others follow. -
Proactive Measures .. Modders, Collectors, Scammers

No one will like my opinion on this but I'll say it anyway. I would use information posted by The Zigmeister as a reference when determining if what another modder is telling me is true, but I would not use his opinion of his competition as a reference for judging his competition. As comedian Lewis Black would say... "That's just fu*cking stupid!" would you ask Burger-King what they think about McDonalds.. or would you ask their customers as they are really the police men. My comments have nothing to do my opinion of The Zigmeister, I think I hold the opinion of The Zigmeister as most members here do, I hold him in high esteem for his skills. Use The Zigmeister as a measuring stick if you will.... but my opinion is that this topic be approached in the same method as the replicas that these modifications sit on.... quality determines price.... period. Some modders are Swiss, some are ETA Clone (whatever the hell that means) and others are basic Asian..... if they price accordingly I dont have a problem with it. If I pay $175 for lume, I expect perfection, if I pay $125 I expect around a 90% job, If I pay $90 I expect an 80%+ job. If none of this makes sense, ban all other modification experts and send all jobs...... 100% to The Zigmeister & vaccum... end of discussion. If this does not make sense, offer something else that makes more sense... Perfection and reality completely different things thus you cannot create rules for fictitious scenarios. Dont waste your time flaming anyone offering an opinion here unless you plan to offer something useful... and something that can actually be implemented. I could offer up pipe dreams all day long ... like "All modders should get their act together.. blah blah blah..." I guess my point is that everyone has an opinion ... but how many have a solution? I hope we see solutions here instead of the same old opinions. -

Ok, I must first point out that this is the 1st dial that I have ever done and anyone who has done this understands that there is a lot of practice involved. You have to develop the correct consistency of lume on the bottom dial in order for it not to be discolored. I have not figured this out yet but I plan to practice many more times before doing any of my watches. I want to learn to do it myself so I can control how good or bad it looks. But with that said... the purpose of this thread is to teach people how deceiving "Lume Shots" can be if the photo is taken with a really long exposure time. I do not know enough about cameras to give you the exposure specs on each shot... but you should be able to see what I am talking about in the photos below. I also want to add that my dial twisted (I am not gluing it down because I'm still practicing) and it is not the case where I simply forgot to lume certain areas. What you should be able to spot is the inconsistent depths of the lume when applied to the bottom plate. This is one of the hardest things to master (and I'm only on dial one... ) lol.. On quick glance the first one does not look that bad... (dont bust my ass over it guys... I'm trying to prove a point).. but as you can see... what looks really bright and semi consistent .. really isnt. So be careful with fly by night modders who have 1 dial experience in luming... stick with the experts... I hope this helps someone. Better, Not so Good, Reality,

Daytona4me's Review of the Porsche Flat-6 Chrono

Not everyone was able to see the eclipse tonight. I've "attempted" to take some pictures to share with everyone. The last total lunar eclipse until 2010 occurs tonight, with cameo appearances by Saturn and the bright star Regulus on either side of the veiled full moon. Skywatchers viewing through a telescope will have the added treat of seeing Saturn's handsome rings. Weather permitting, the total eclipse can be seen from North and South America. People in Europe and Africa will be able to see it high in the sky before dawn on Thursday. As the moonlight dims -- it won't go totally dark -- Saturn and Regulus will pop out and sandwich the moon. Regulus is the brightest star in the constellation Leo. Enjoy,

So while I decide what to do with it, I will wear it for all tasks and get it banged up real nice! What will this week bring us? ..... Who's going to be the star of the beginning of the week wrist check?

A guy was sitting quietly minding his business and reading his paper when his wife walked up behind him and whacked him on the head with a magazine. "What in Hell was that for?" he asked. "That was for the piece of paper in your pants pocket with the name Laura Lou written on it," she replied. Thinking quickly, he explained. "Two weeks ago when I went to the races, Laura Lou was the name of one of the horses I bet on," "Oh honey, I'm sorry," she said. "I should have known there was a good explanation." Three days later he was watching a ballgame on TV when she walked up and hit him in again, using an iron skillet this time, which knocked him out cold. When he came to, he asked, "What the Hell was that for?" . . . . She replied, "Your Goddamned horse called!"

We see the Graham Chronofighter already, I'm sure the swordfish is going to follow. I hope anyway I have looked at the Gen sites (OMG, ROL, BRT, IWC) and just dont see anything to jump up and down about (that is new eye candy anyway). Maybe 2008 will be the year of the great Off Brands.... like Porsche Design for an example.

Whats The Best Way To Re-position Dial Feet?
Daytona4me replied to slay's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Put a Kentucky weld on it... be sure to wrap it around about 3 or 4 times to ensure a quality hold.
