  1. Yes...it is gen...just look at the lume on the markers....it should glow like a torch....but its strange about the lume spilling over...it must be an Omega dial reject?

This dial is in the 18kt white gold SMPs with raised bezel markers...similar to the limited edition America's Cup SMP.

  2. Hont has these on display on his site. It's still worth something even if you just use it for its case. A great hybrid SMP can be had if you combine pieces with say Silix's Omega. That's if the case is 1:1.

I posted this here because I've never heard of anyone mentioning this version before, even though everyone's main concern with SMPs is the HE valve and crown guards being incorrect. This one has those two flaws corrected, yet never any mention.

I think that Josh was selling this watch for awhile about a year ago but they are no longer available from him. I think Taki bot one and superlumed it...then sold it to another member. That is definitely a decent case for a SMP project.

  3. i have a MBW with all parts you need to build the best AP Rep gen white dial, gen hands!!!, tag heuer movement with chrono module,... but i have to say...it is soooo hard to get the parts

this AP is one of a kind, because there are no parts in the whole world to buy :o

Wow PAM...are all those gen dials yours? Sweet...I've been trying to source a gen dial and generally they are over $600 and very hard to find.

Did you also redrill the case for the crown to get a semi-gen movement to fit?

  4. Damn Marrick - what's your secret for sourcing some of these Omega reps ?!?!?!?

The thick case looks like King's version...but her crystal had coke bottle distortion...He valve does not look too great but the crown guards are a big improvement. Wow all the links are removed...i thought I had small wrists :)

IMO, the worst aspect about the watch is the thick case...it just does not sit right on the wrist...especially with thin wrists.

I've given up trying to find a decent SMP.

    Found this one today.

Check out the trick chrono pusher protectors.

Just officially released a couple of days ago....33K Euro or about 35K US dollars MSRP...Unfortuately, limited editions sell around their MSRPs but there are 1000 of them so street prices might drop but I doubt it.

  6. Well I know y the straps were flipping out now. They were replica straps that were pawned off on timezone as being genuine.

There is a metal pin at the ends of the straps, omega logo too big, and buckle was polished and not brushed.

    Doh!!!

I've purchased two gen rubber straps for my SMPs, one oragne and one black. However, I'm having problems fitting the rubber strap on my watches...even on my gen bond SMP. On gen and reps alike, the top of the strap flips out between the case and springbar...this happened using my gen springbars too.

Any solutions...like thick springbars? I dont see this would help since the springbar can still rotate at point of contact with the case.

Perhaps it is normal for the gap due to my 6.5 inch wrists? The strap seems to fit the watch fine (without gap) when I place it on one of the watch cushion for storage in my watch box.

    TIA

  8. Hey jkerouac...Thanks for the advise and your help, very kind of you.

I'm new to all of this, hope that I have not caused any offence. :)

Unfortunately, the royal oak series is not too popular. There are new reps of the 15300 out but no one has done a recent review on them. There are several reviews of the AP jumbo where the best version is the MBW jumbo.

Most the members here like the RO offshore for its oversized dimensions. In this case...all the deals are the same with silix being the cheapest... generally u give a bit away in service for price...but just a bit.

  9. IMO the best version of each are of equally good quality. I have an old Bond with the 'best' bracelet, curved links, pins etc and a black SMP with a pin bracelet, polished sides, segmented end-links etc and both are v good. The black SMP is the 'old school' ETA version with the correct HE valve position, correct length hands, correct pattern caseback-- but not available anymore. The bracelets aren't interchangeable as the springbar holes aren't in the same position. The Bond bracelet is too loose on the black SMP and the Speedy-style bracelet won't go onto the Bond.

Both excellent watches BTW although both may now be for sale to pay for some gens.

I have gotten by "best" bond bracelet (from a blue bond SMP) to fit my black SMP from King (org w/ speedy bracelet) and my correct He closed factory electric blue SMP (org w/ speedy bracelet). Perhaps I'm missing something with this question asked by the PO.

  10. The gen case back makes the watch thinner. In fact, with the stock movement, the gen case back wouldn't fit...it hit the rotor. However, with real ETA 2824 movement in there, it closed right up.

I'm convince that the stock movement was not a gen 2824 (it was supposed to be). As stated above, the dimensions were wrong. It looked similar but didn't "feel" the same at all and it was thicker. The new movement is 2 seconds fast every 24 hours (without any adjustments) and it is soooo smooth when the rotor turns or when you turn the dial to either wind it or set the date/time.

Perhaps this gives me hope in working with my SMP reps again. Besides the He issue, I assumed that the thickness issue was too much to overcome.

1 issue with the bezel insert is that I suggest sanding it down no matter what (no glue is needed...just pop the insert in). The gen insert in slightly recessed in the bezel while most of the reps' inserts are flush with the bezel out of the box.

  11. Great work...its always enjoyable to work on one's own watch and to have something u can be proud of.

Concerning the caseback... did u install a gen caseback? No fitting problems? Is the thickness of the watch changed now? Rep SMP are always a bit thicker than the gens...causing the reps to wear differently once on the wrist.
