  1. Great pics. Both straps are very nice.
  2. Thanks for the support fellas. I'm a civil engineer with over 5 years of experience in land development and heavy highway construction. I'm professionally licensed and ready to work. Resume and references available. On the plus side, I have several good watches I can wear to interviews.
  3. Unfortunately I got laid off last week, so I'm trimming my expenses and putting a hold on my collecting hobby until I land a new job. I really love this hobby and I've enjoyed it since I started last summer. In order to not get too carried away, I've promised myself to only buy a new rep every other month. I started in August with a Cartier Tank Francais, then a JLC Master Control in October, and a FM Crazy Colordreams for December. My February watch (PAM 111) is on it's way. I have a whole list of watches I'd love to own, and a watch box with far too many open slots. Here's to getting a new job so I can start collecting again!
  4. My sister's quartz seems to keep good time. She doesn't wear it every day and she sets all her watches and clocks 10 minutes ahead, so a few seconds to her probably doesn't make any difference.
  5. "Your best? Losers always wine about 'their best.' Winners go home and **** the prom queen." -Sean Connery in The Rock
  6. I'm sure for $312,000 the owner could hold it for a few years (while never wearing it, of course) and then sell it at another auction for even more. So yeah, maybe it is worth the price tag. However, watches aren't securities, so for $312,000 there are probably many better ways of getting a higher return on your money. As for the "art" in that youtube video of the nude fat woman, yuck!
  7. I still don't get these fantasy watches. The cases are cool though.
  8. Thanks for joining our cult, er I mean, forum!
  9. Here's some less-than-professional pics of the Chanel J12 ceramic rep I bought my sister for her birthday. She originally wanted a white Marc Jacobs watch with a pirate on it. I knew this would be much better. She really loves this watch.
  10. Ordered 2 watches on Dec 31. Still waiting. Ordered 1 watch on Jan 3 and it arrived a week later. Good to hear others are finally getting theirs. I hope mine aren't too far behind.
  11. UPDATE Here's how the box currently looks. Top row left to right: Tungsten bracelet, JLC Master Control, Cartier Tank Francais, FM Crazy Color Dreams, Kenneth Cole watch. Bottom row: Mountain lion claw necklace, Rolex Datejust, Guess homage watch, Relic homage watch, friendship bracelet with monogrammed cufflinks.
  12. Thanks for the advice Jkay. No golfing in this watch.
  13. Great photos. Very professional looking.
  14. Wow, that's a really cool piece. Nice find!
  15. Here's my rep Tank Francais on my 7" wrist. Judge for yourself.
  16. My incredibly awesome girlfriend got me this incredibly beautiful watch box (or should I say my incredibly beautiful girlfriend got me this incredibly awesome watchbox?) for Christmas. I really thought she was sick of me talking about watches for the last 6 months, but she obviously knows how much fun I'm having with this hobby and wanted to contribute to my enjoyment by getting me this 20-piece hardwood display box. It's honestly a much bigger box than I ever anticipated owning. I guess I'll just have to keep on getting more watches!
  17. This is a Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control rep I bought from Josh a few months ago. I'm just now getting around to posting pics. It's stainless steel with Swiss ETA. I replaced the original cheapo black leather strap with this black lizard strap I got for around $30. I got this watch because I was looking for a classy, understated watch I could wear to work. I really like it. The pictures hardly do it justice. For the most part, it goes unnoticed until someone catches the sweeping second hand and asks what kind of watch I'm wearing. After that they usually shrug it off. The biggest reaction I got was from my friend who is anti-rep. His eyes practically popped out of his head when he saw the clear display back - I don't think he'd ever seen that on a watch before.
  18. I got this beautiful FM Crazy Color Dreams from Angus. It's bigger than I thought, but I don't think it's too big. Stainless steel case, rubber strap, jump movement. Payment was easy and Angus sent me several emails keeping me updated about the availability of the watch and status of the shipment. I will definitely do business with him again! On a side note - I've been collecting watches for about 6 months now and this is the first watch to really wow my parents. They were blown away by the jump movement, and they couldn't believe I got such a convincing rep for $125 when the gen sells for around $12,000. My Dad wants to wear it the next time he goes golfing to see what his Tag Heuer enthusiast friend thinks of it.
  19. I'm glad this post got bumped. I was out of town for a while and it looked like I was going to miss this get-together. I'm usually skiing on Saturdays, so a Tues or Weds meeting would work much better for me. How many people do we need to make this happen?
  20. Ok, people like you make me feel sane Thanks for sharing, Whatever123. It's an impressive list, I'm sure it was lots of fun sporting all those different watches in '10.
  21. Watches aren't going anywhere. As long as there are wrists, there will be wristwatches.
