  1. What drill bit should you use for this. a #55 carbide?
  2. I couldn't ask but I was wondering if we swapped subs would mine have looked bigger.
  3. So my current favorite watch is my BK TW sub (WM9 dial). I am going to assume that it is pretty accurate to gen in size. It supposedly takes gen parts. Now when I first got it I will admit it seemed quite small, but then my BK DSSD was my only other Rolex. Now it seems so perfectly sized that the DSSD seems stupidly big (and gets no wrist time now). Today I ran into at least three people wearing subs. Two on my flight to Miami from Newark NJ. And one at Whole Foods. All of those subs looked bigger than mine - I'd guess 41mm. I got a close look at one in particular because it was on the wrist of my wife's friend's husband. Not a rep wearer. It definitely was a sub, cyclops with date. And definitely wasn't a ceramic bezel. The CGs were pointed like on a 16610 - not those barrel shoulders like the 116610. But it looked bigger than mine. Does Rolex make a bigger sub? Am I crazy? Is my sub wrong and too small? Wondering...
  4. Can you PM me about a possible Gen hand/dial set for my St. Exupery 3717? I'm wondering should I go gen dial or Vaclume. I'm also josh_w on the geek - I own this one from you: -Josh
  5. Can someone brief me about TTK and what that has to do with the attack.
  6. I have taken my BK DSSD down 25 feet without any issue. I don't think you can figure it out in the sink though. I know BK does a good job reseating and greasing the gaskets which may not have been done well coming out of the factory. As a beginner diver I'd think you wouldn't be venturing much below 100 feet. Without decompressing you can spend 7 minutes at 110 feet. Makes for a short boring dive in the dark.
  7. You have a very good point. The IWC Il Destriero Scafusia Grand Complication in its day was considered to be the most complicated watch movement in the world. And it was based on a Valjoux 7750 ebauche.
  8. So these fit the 12 sided case backs on the 44mm luminor cases both solid and display? What about the back on a 45mm radiomir case? If so I'll take one too.
  9. Wanted to share some of my photos of this spectacular watch:
  10. So I'll pass on the 26/22 and wait or go custom for 27/22 And I agree 27/20 too skinny despite being deployant compatible.
  11. But all things equal on a custom strap would you go 26 or 27?
  12. Intereseted in a brown gator for my 288. Want less taper so was going for 27/22 on a buckle. But people have 26/22 straps for radiomirs. Should I get a 26mm strap? Hold out for a 27mm? -Josh
  13. Actually I'd love to hear about the relationship between replica-watches-guide.com and this site. I go there every now and then but they don't have such fabulous brand specific forums. Were they related at one point in time?
  14. Oh and it seems the 371701 really really needs that oem Kevlar strap. Do they make a rep IWC deployant? The gen is $200+. There is a UK company that sells unbranded deployants for IWC for £11

  16. I asked for two spare crystals. Those can go to chief while I wear the watches. Let's see what they say.
  17. Great idea - is the AR from Taka as good as Chief's?
  18. So I decided to just go with the cartel 3717 instead of a heavily modded one. Because of that I'm getting the 01 an the 09 St. Exupery as well. Now in the future I want to do chief's AR. Can the 3717 crystal be removed without taking out the movement from the front? Or do you have to press through the case? And if you remove your crystal to send it off for many weeks, what do you do with your crystalless watch? -Josh
  19. I'm sure if repped it'll have a fixed reserve meter or a sunken date wheel - pick one.
  20. The too close together subdials look terrible in my opinion. That makes it a non-starter for me. The sunken datewheel is pretty bad too.
  21. So I have fallen in love with the Portuguese 7 day 5001 watch. I just tried on a gen at an AD and it has the perfect heft and size. It uses the same 5000 movement as the 5002 and 5004 and seems to be in the same case as a 5004. Date and seconds in the same spot. So how can I get a 5001 rep that is decently accurate. I know it cannot have a display back since no one has repped the caliber 5000. I'd even love a build, maybe with a gen dial?
  22. Thanks. It may come in handy as a modding watch. Maybe I can use it to practice removing and setting hands - won't mind scratching that dial!
