  1. If the stem lock is stuck down, you have no choice but to remove the dial/hands. Once the dial is removed & you have a looksee at how the keyless works operates, the problem should be obvious. In most cases, you simply have to realign the parts that popped out of position. Good luck.
  2. Oops, I was not even aware this dealer was listed here. You really do learn something new every day.
  3. Only as a last resort (before throwing a watch out) would I whack a watch against anything. 1 of the 1st rules you learn in watchmaking is to never strike a watch or force anything.
  4. 1st off, most rep watches contain used or unserviced movements. 2nd, I have never heard of Toro Bravos & most rep sellers (not listed on RWG) should be considered rogues. Depending on what you paid for it, I think you have 3 choices - keep trying Toro Bravos to see if they will replace the watch, take it to a local watchmaker for a complete overhaul (disassembly, cleaning & oiling) or replace it with a watch from 1 of the sellers listed on our site (I would recommend Trusty or PerfectClones). But, before you do anything, I would recommend reading Toad's Guide to Newbies, which is pinned atop the Introduction forum.
  5. I would recommend going to a Chanel AD to see what the gen looks like. Alternatively, try searching google & be sure you are not looking at a rep site/watch.
  6. The date, especially when amplified with the addition of a cyclops, mars the purity of a Sub dial. Putting a date feature on tool watches that were designed, primarily, for specific tasks (diving in the case of a Sub & timing races in the case of a Daytona) makes the watch look a bit silly, as if the date was slid in, as an after-thought, sometime after the watch was original designed. On a Datejust or other non-tool watch it looks fine.
  7. Working late just past midnight, so I am starting the Saturday wristies still wearing my 116509
  8. Looks good, but where is the full frontal?
  9. The OP did not identify it as such, but I assume this is today's wristies
  10. Easiest way is to take the watch to a local watchmaker & have him demagnetize it. The process only takes a minute & some watchmakers will do this for free while you wait. No disassembly is required. Alternatively, if you have a good, strong tape deck head demagnetizer (or video tape bulk eraser), you can use that. Simply, treat the watch as a tape head & follow the manufacturer's instructions (be careful not to scratch the crystal).
  11. Ditto above. COSC is +6/-4 secs/day. 5 minutes/hour = problem. The hairspring could be magnetized or caught on an adjacent wheel.
  12. When you click the Post button, you will see a small 'Saving post...' in gray lettering just below the lower right corner of the editor. If you give it 30 seconds or so & then refresh the page (press the F5 key in most web browsers), your new post will be there. But if you click the Post button again, you will get duplicate posts. So please bear with us while this is investigated.
  13. Buyer Beware on that Roamer. I did not see any indication stating that it is freshly serviced by a professional watchmaker & seller has less than stellar history with previous sales marked 'Private'.

    V72?

V72s were used in a great many chronographs, but without a good, macro of the area of the main plate below the balance wheel, there is no way to be sure. As best as I can tell, the pushers on this watch appear to be symmetrical (V72s are asymmetrical), so it is probably not a V72.
  16. Either your case is not an MBW or the end links are not 20mm wide? I have no experience with TC, but it would not surprise me at all if the parts you got from Mr. Slimeball (wholesaleyadayada) are different from what was described. You could try to pick up a set of gen 585s (very rare/expensive) or 580s (sort of rare/not as expensive) on ebay or vrf along with some 20mm springbars from Ofrei or 1 of the other watch parts houses.
  17. Ditto. Great collection.
  18. All that work & all we get is an A8 badge. Let's see that 'Dweller against the rest of the car.
  19. I stand corrected.
  20.   Dial is a professionally repainted gen. The insert came from JoeyB & the rest is gen.
