Have you missed all of the threads regarding Vietnamese cases & NDTrading?
-
I think I would replace the pearl in the insert (I do not think that model has a metalized pearl), but a beaut otherwise.

Is Angus out for the count? What's up with Puretime?

Stephane -- What is the story on the case back? Where is it from (NDTrading?????)? What case did you fit it to (MBW???????)? Do you have more pics?
-
Frankly, I would give her 5 STARS for buying you any watch (most women, unless they are into watches, think all watches have batteries anyway). Just be honest. Tell her how much you appreciate the wonderful gift & the fact that she was thinking about you while in NYC. But explain that, while you plan to keep & cherish her gift forever (which you had better do), it is just too inaccurate to wear. Tell her it is like wearing a fake Chanel handbag with the name misspelled (in large letters) on the side of the bag -- CHANNEL (spelled wrong). I think she will get the point.

Not strange at all. Many collectors are 'drop-shippers', which means the collector is located in 1 place (in GhangZhou, in this case), but the products are shipped to you from another place (in this case, ShenZhen). Before returning a watch, you should always ask the collector to give you the shipping address he wants you to send the watch to. I would let him know the exact address you shipped the watch to (do not assume anything......be exact) & then he can contact someone at that address to have them contact the local post office to trace the package. Most of the time, the only person who can request a package trace is the person at the TO: address on the package. Hopefully, now they will be able to locate your missing watch & get things put right. I hope you kept all of your shipping documents........ -
I completely missed that. Thanks. And, yes, the big question is if/when he has them available -- now or in the near future. Worst case, since the case is the same, you could purchase the $198 version & swap out the guts if/when you locate the chs movement in the future.
-
It was only a matter of time. Good sighting, but I only see the $198 version (incorrect hand stack) displayed on puretimewatch.

This 1 looks pretty decent to me. Properly vintagized (couple of light sprays with matte varnish) & with the right (vintagized) hands, I think this would work. Nothing about it makes me look twice (in a suspicious way).

At the risk of appearing self-serving since I got my order in in just the nick of time, and after giving it a bit more thought I think I figured out what the attraction is for this new watch. Actually, attractions. For 1 thing, this is the 1st Rolex rep in my experience that does not have ANY glaring or obvious mistakes that undo its otherwise competent design. Anywhere (at least, according to the hand full of new owners & from what I gather from the growing number of posted pictures). Second, & this is where the self-serving part comes into play, alot of the hype around this admittedly extraordinarily well done rep has been self-generated by the buyers & owners themselves. Myself included. So there you have it -- a super rep of 1 of the most popular new (and larger) Rolex designs in over a decade, a rep that is highly accurate & constructed with great attention to detail, in limited supply & available only (to date) from a limited number of sellers (2). In such a case, a legend is born.

Mimmosa - I think Ken & others trying to tell you that it is time to apologize (even if you feel you have done no wrong) & move on while everyone is still on relatively cordial terms, if you know what I mean. -
I agree. The amount of heat required to bend the pillar plate would have charred the dial/hands to oblivion. This thing suffered some type of blunt force trauma. It may have been worn by someone who was sitting at the point of impact during a high-speed automobile accident or plane crash.

What has Nanuq been upto with his SuperDomes?

If you have enough beer, everything seems waterproof. -
Nasty? Perhaps. But I would wager that if the Deepsea rep is as good as the GMTIIC, we will all have 1 (even if they end up sitting, mostly unworn, in a case or drawer). That is my 1st prediction for the New Wave of Rolex Reps.

Here we go again. Click me for instant relief.

Ok, I bite -- Why do people hate when you wear that watch at work? Not twotone fans (referring to the metal, not the moderator)?
-
Nice piece, Richard. Have we seen that 1 before?

Ebay watch: 8 days movement for the collectors out there

Interesting, but I have wall clocks that are smaller than that. Of course, I live under a microscope.......well it feels that way sometimes. -
Is it me or is the system running slow again?
freddy333 replied to freddy333's topic in General Discussion
Yes, better today. -
If you have a full watchmakers or tool shop, you might be able to unbend/remanufacture all the parts and have a nice little 3035. But I would not spend more than $100-$200, tops, on a damaged movement like that. Most likely, it is a loss unless you have a good amount of free time & alot of tool-making skill & patience. Too bad......I hate to see an otherwise clean Rolex movement totaled.
-
The Deepsea is what gets produced when the marketing guys start overruling (& running) the design department. Never a good idea.
-
I want a Deepsea, too. But the thing is such a honky monstrosity that I doubt I would ever consider wearing it (at least not out in public). I have a nice slot waiting for it in the back of 1 of my cases where it will sit, nearly motionless, to be loved & admired under glass, which is where it looks best. Now, if you want to talk about the new White Gold Sub...........THAT is a watch that I would happily wear. It is obviously no longer a tool watch, but with jeans & a tee......smashing

Ziggy is still working on watches, he is just not spending as much time reading & talking about them online.

Women with mens watches (or bigger than womens sized)
freddy333 replied to knex78's topic in General Discussion
Some very attractive & high profile (flashy) women can pull off men's watches. But, on most women, I think it looks a bit silly & affected (rather the way I used to look back when I wore Pans). However, when a friend just wants to model 1 of your frankens, how can you say no? -
With all this fuss about the CHS on the GMT II...
freddy333 replied to Feta1's topic in The Rolex Area
I still have the 1st 'good' Rolex rep I bought 20+ years ago. Back then, I knew about as much as the average Rolex owner knows about Rolex watches (NOTHING), & happily wore my 'perfect' Rolex rep secure in the (mistaken) belief that if I, the owner, could not see any warts in my rep, neither could anyone else. But as I gained more experience with watches & began acquiring some gens, I began to see some of the warts that (I am quite sure now) may have caused those occasional rolling eyes that makes you wonder if your fly is down (or your socks are mismatched). It is true what they say about ignorance being bliss. Yeah, I was going to say something.
