  1. The word MILGAUSS is too high on the dial so I agree it's fake. That bezel would be HAWT for a 6538 build. And getting your hands on that movement for a low price? Win/win/win.
  2. I've looked this over a lot during the last 24 hours. It's not a gen case, and some other details are iffy at best. But I see some verrrrrrry nice parts there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/antique-rolex-6541-/150987222931?
  3. "O" is for Opportunity. Take your thinking one step further. Get a really nice negligee set, fold and roll it up in a nice package, and slide the Rolex over it. Slip it into a nice white box with tissue paper. Bingo, ready for presentation.
  4. Well said Red, people are all over my gen Doxa, and like you said, some with 0 posts and no history here at all. A general point of advice: if you can, get external references, ideally from people you already know on other boards. That helps a lot.
  5. Gratulerer med dagen Asci ! And Pete, congrats on the 5,000!
  6. I'm sure you've talked to JMB? He's The Man when it comes to machine work round these parts...
  7. Dare I follow something like Freddy's Pan Am? I'll try...
  8. +1 The distinctive part of this dial is the COMEX lettering, and #2 does it best.
  9. Make sure you find someone that can do good script engraving. It's worth the price. I recommend initials and wedding date. Classic simplicity.
  10. After a little "kid glove delicate" aging, this piece is coming along nicely. Expecting a couple new parts in the mail when I get home tonight, so we'll see what the weekend brings.

    The BIG 4!

"4" you say? Okay..... you've got four.
  15. This happened once to me, in the heyday of early RWG. It was a painful day. I still wake up screaming. But the good lads here saw me through it, Read up, there are lots of good suggestions here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/57992-crisis-panic-emergency/#
  16. Very nice! Want to make it even better? Get a reaming tool and gently countersink the case where the tube screws in. Your tube is not completely installed so the angled back face still shows. That will be a nice little detail and it will be more waterproof.
  17. Here's a picture of my 1675 from approximately the same angle as the first photo, so you can compare the crowns.

Oooooooooooooooooooooo, nice case! That one's going to be a looker! And coincidentally, it's born the same quarter and year as my 6536/1. The gods have smiled on this project! Now cc33, the bar has been raised. Let's see some 6200 loveliness!

If I remember correctly, our own Freddy333 took parts from three 24h GMT hands and soldered them together to make one perfect final hand. Perhaps you could join two sacrificial "short" hour hands together in the middle and make it long? Freddy will know.

That website was a nice find! I did some looking and found a nice page talking about the 6200 Big Crown. What a looker! But you've got a real challenge building yours... look at that long hours hand! http://rolexpassionreport.com/5816/the-first-rolex-submariner-ref-6200-big-crown-200-meter-waterproof-during-day-trip-to-geneva/
