  1. The best aftermarket inserts are HERE. Good stuff but they need a better pearl.
  2. Yeah the iPhone is pathetic for nabbing URLs for posting elsewhere. Sorry 'bout that!
  3. Oh yeah! Rare as a rare thing. And believe it or not, four of them live here at our humble RWG. I suspect it will get pricey, last one went for a little over three Grovers.
  4. This makes eleven known examples in the world. Can you say "rare"'??
  5. Available now on eBay! Item #300586596382
  6. Soooooooooooo nice. Love that '42 Freddy! Wanna trade?
  7. Nice Coke! IIRC Freddy has a Vanilla Cream Soda he can chime in with...
  8. Pffffffft... you guys call this "bling"? THIS is bling.
  9. She does seem to have a fondness for photographing her boobage... Say, what's the name of this charming lass? I wonder if I see where this is going?
  10. In the 3rd picture is it capturing her just as her head begins to spin all the way around?
  11. Wowzers, I've heard impressive stories about the R32. A (late) friend of mine had one in Seattle area, he reportedly had a twin turbo setup, all-wheel drive and insane horsepower.
  12. She's a Land Rover Series 2A from 1963.
  13. Hey M, a word to the wise... he was already crazy. Flashy? Rose gold? Ewwwwwwwwww Stainless steel is where it's at, baby. And we had such high hopes for you! On a more serious note, I'm sure those with more refined taste (than raw/boring stainless steel) will be chiming in shortly.
  14. *grin* Then alligoat's answer won't work for that case either. Are you sure you're not building too many projects at once? It's okay, we've all been there. Remember this is a non-judgmental safe place. You're among friends. Hello, my name is Nanuq. I'm an addict. I build too many projects.
  15. You won't need those gaskets for a 6538 if it uses gen construction... there's no place to put them. It's just a ring that presses down over the crystal.
  16. I decided to follow Cube's lead so I dusted off another old timer. This is a pre-Breitling precursor to the Navitimer with v72C movement, made for the AOPA by Gigandet.
  17. Rumor has it that "Bergie" is the model in this photo. I wonder if he'll come in here and deny it? FWIW, nice legs Bergie!
  18. +1 and the crown guards are straight from a 1675 GMT. It looks to my uneducated eye like a 16800, with the gold rings around the hour indices. With a Tudor Sub minutes hand and a "Mini Me" hours hand.
  19. No joy, Ubi ... his insert hole is not the tiny vintage size. Still on the topic of changing the color of the goo, I read somewhere you can soak the pearl in alcohol and the fill just dissolves. Any truth to that? Or was the original poster the one soaked in alcohol?
  20. I ordered up a couple of these and they're pretty bad, they look nothing like gen. Don't waste your money guys. eBay item 130555735541
  21. Correct. The waiver I signed before he would open the case covered everything having to do with the vintage and irreplaceable watch. Apparently he could have thrown it against a wall and I'd be out of luck. To their credit they felt badly and apologized profusely. I told them I've got one coming already and they sort of hemmed and hawed about "we'll see what we can do to help cover it". So fingers crossed!
  22. Thanks, it's perhaps a sign of our litigous times that before they would open it, the watchmaker had to call the main corporate offices in Seattle and discuss it, then they faxed him a form for me to sign. Then he had it apart and fixed in 10 minutes. The pearl was crushed when he pressed the bezel back on with his tool. Unfortunately he never gets to work on these old timers so he forgot to just click it back on with his thumbs. Not to worry, I have already spied a vintage pearl and it's on the way north.
  23. Wearing the old timer today, after a scare at the Rolex AD this weekend. I had them take a look and the crown is turning on its spring/shaft so it won't wind. When he put it back together the clutch got pooched so not only wouldn't it wind, I couldn't set the time. Then I had to sign a waiver before the watchmaker would even open it or touch the dial. All is well now, except he crushed my pearl putting it back together. So now I'm in the hunt for a vintage pearl. And here I thought it was "finished".
