  1. Pssst: I did, the Doxa arrived!
  2. Thanks guys! I have a lot of polishing up still to do, but you should have seen this poor thing when she first arrived! Ouch! So far keeping good time and she's waterproof to boot. Boy this is exciting! @cskent69 That's a great 300T you have there!
  3. The postman was very very good to me today. For your viewing pleasure, a Doxa Sub 300, the first series and the original orange dive watch. This particular model is known as the "Black Lung", arguably the rarest Doxa in the world. One expert suggests there are 7 examples of this watch in existence. Other experts claim there are 3 or perhaps 4. I personally know of 2 others. Each one is engraved with an identifying number. They were made as an exploratory project between US Divers and Doxa. This one is triple signed with the original crown and fully adjustable and working Beads of Rice bracelet. Enjoy!
  4. Thanks gents! Yeah this one has some big stories to tell. Wait till you see what I'm about to post.....
  5. A well-loved and all original 1680. Silver flat-3 date wheel, replacement gen bracelet, and the flat-top cyclops crystal is worn almost into a domed shape. Enjoy!
  6. Just remember yer ol' buddy Nanuq this Christmas!! PS: she really is a beauty.

    ...

Several things about it bug me. I need to see a shot from the end along the crown, and the back. The bezel and crown jump out at me as suspicious. How about a shot with the hands away from 10:10?
  8. Just keep searching... people have made lists over time, with the exception of WIS ... This is a term of which we must not speak.
  9. I thought about that! I have some iPhone photos here but no way to get those onto RWG. Sorry guys! This 1680 is just GORGEOUS!!
  10. Thanks, one and all! Tonight it's red wine on the balcony watching the waves roll in with the ever-delectable Ms. Nanuq
  11. Very nice Freddy, that is a 300T reissue of the original. It has the flat sapphire crystal, where mine is domed plexi. That has the USD logo as an outline, mine is filled-in black. Nice pieces!
  12. Thanks! It's the only one I've seen on the Beads of Rice bracelet too... all the rest are head-only. Shweeeeet!
  13. Greetings gents, I'm on vacation with the delectable Ms. Nanuq and having a blast. I just had to share the good news, I'm a papa twice again! First up is a lovely aged and grey 1680 MUCH in need of some Zigginess. Next up is more than what I'd been hoping for: I decided I needed to add a Doxa to the family, so started some major research. I settled on a 300 Sub, with the high domed plexi crystal. Then I discovered *THE* 300 is called a "black lung" where there's a US Divers logo on the dial, all in black against the orange. There are supposedly 7 of them known to exist, all produced as demo pieces. Can you smell a COMEX/Rolex parallel here? Each is individually engraved on the lugs. Well, I just got one. Pictures will be forthcoming as the pieces arrive home. Cheers all! Now buy some of my stuff so I can pay for these beauties!
  14. Amazing.
  15. Do those watches run like ... the Dickens?
  16. It was the best of Subs, it was the worst of Subs.
  17. If maximum jewel count was all that mattered, this would be the epitome of good taste: Jewels baby!
  18. 666? Are you talking about the electrical systems? :-) As a British car owner I have the Right To Scoff.
  19. Like this?
  20. Well said. One says "look at me" and the other says "man I love quality cars".
  21. Roger that. Don't do a 5513 because it's like the kid brother of a SD. So you're down to a 1665 SD or a 1680 Sub. My favorite is the 5508 or 6536 but most people don't like watches that small. The SD is arguably the most comfortable watch to wear, so.... do that. Phong parts and my crystal will have you set. If you decide to do a big crown 5508 I have the crystal for that too. PS: ivory white markets are expected on a SD.
  22. I went through all these scenarios in my mind when it was time to service my 6536. One man had been in the watch in the last 19 years, Tom Nesbitt in Seattle. Tom is MORE than excellent, but I know Ziggy is an artist...and that did it for me. His attention to detail and his listening skills are top notch. In the end I got more than I hoped for. Freddy is right... if you want provenance then a RSC is the way to go.
  23. My three most-used tools: An axe A chainsaw And a vice to hold it all in place
  24. There is ONE person I would trust my DRSD to... Ziggy. And it's worth the trip to hand deliver the watch to him.
  25. I've been offered $37k for mine in the last year.
