I like it. Who among us hasn't dreamed of walking into an AD and having our pic of the watches in the display case. With your setup, you not only get to experience just that but you also have a selection from watches you already like. Well done.

Sounds to me like the Chinese aren't the only ones who should leave well enough alone. Maybe your watchmaker should absorb the cost of getting the watch back to working order?

You can rent/buy this movie on itunes.

As always, Andrew is great to deal with. I received the watch in just a few days after ordering it. I went swimming with it all weekend without a hitch. Kudos, Andrew!

It's just my opinion, but none of the watches pictured are worth modding. At best, you'll be getting 1:1 for your money. -

That's funny because I've always thought that Tudors were for people who wanted a Rolex but who wouldn't make the financial commitment to buying one. Now you tell a tale about a Tudor owner who won't make the financial commitment to getting the watch serviced properly. I sense a pattern here. To answer your question, you should start doing splash and dips if that's the path you want to take. If I were you, I'd continue on the path you're already on. Everyone works for money but not everyone is a [censored]. A [censored] works merely for the money and takes no other satisfaction from doing the work.

What is the correct dial on a nautilus? I bought an MBW/MBK nautilus a few months ago but never wore it because it had a TRACK around the hour indices. I ended up buying one with DOTS around the hour indices. Which one is correct? In all the pictures I've seen, it has DOTS but I keep seeing ads for MBK's with a TRACK around the hour indices. I'm confused, which is correct? In other news, I've seen several pics of Brad Pitt wearing a fake nautilus (the watch he's wearing has the HUGE crown you see on canal street versions).

I feel the same way you do, but I typically buy reps for two reasons- 1. because I'm interested in the gen and want to see how much wrist time it'll actually get and 2. because I really want the gen but know it won't get enough wrist time to warrant the expense. In both cases, I don't care too much about reliability since the watch won't be "alive" enough to worry about it. However, in some rare cases, I have fallen in love with the rep and know that I won't get the gen. In those cases, I worry all the time about "random" failures and for that reason, wear the watch very little- probably because I know it'll be working when I need it... probably.

If he finds YOU, he rips you to pieces.

That's the problem with all these companies making similar watches (hublot, bvlgari, zenith, etc)... they all start looking alike from a distance. The big bang we think we see in the beginning is just the bvlgari we've haven't seen yet. If you saw the bvlgari first, you'd think you saw a bvlgari in that early scene.

That's called "shilling" it's not shilling when you actually win the auction. The purpose of Patek's (and others') actions is to be able to state truthfully that one of their watches sold for $X,XXX,XXX at auction. With enough time, most people will forget who the winning bidder was but will remember (or be reminded) what the sale price was. Omega is another company known for doing this. It might not be ethical, but it's business.

The same thing happened to me. Unfortunately, it was my first time dealing with him/her... and the last. I usually deal with Andrew at trustytime so I'm not used to difficult transactions and unanswered emails. I went to silix because he has a watch that Andrew doesn't. I'm just going to wait until Andrew gets the watch and order it from him. I guess that's the beauty of a free market.

A Genuine 1665 on the bay from a zero seller?
wombat247 replied to alligoat's topic in The Rolex Area
It's not high stakes gambling. It's throwing your money away. At least in gambling, you get reasonable odds. Here you get 99% odds that you send him the money and you never see the watch. How much you throw away is up to you. And for all you people who say "well, 15 bidders can't be wrong", I say they have as much collective security as a flock of sheep on the way to the slaughterhouse. -
With great regret....I'm giving up selling replicas..!

Nightmare? Maybe. Just wake up and buy from the solid dealers here and sleep well at night.

Where's the little backpeddling emoticon? TTK should put it in his signature.

I 2nd your call. I paused the show on that shot. Skeleton hands, date, SS case and on rubber strap.

I really like it! Nice original, simple design... highly legible dial... nice placement of the brand name... great jolly roger on the buckle... If I had one... and I might just buy one... I'd change it to a lefty... should be easy to do with the lack of a date display... Not criticizing by any means... that's the best looking invicta EVER

Surprising. I've never seen one and have always wondered about it since I've purchased watches outside the US and have worn them home and shipped the box to avoid such fees. Are they supposed to hand them out at the airport? on the plane? are you supposed to get them on your own before hand? Very interesting topic.
-
Really? I've never seen that form and I've traveled international over twice this year.

*who stand up to Bush. That explains a lot. Get out there and find a way to support yourself... maybe working on a computer... it'll do wonders for improving your self-esteem and releasing you from your self-destructive bitterness. Just my opinion, of course.

I bought a Patek Nautillus on Canal street the other day while on jury duty. The courthouse is a mere 2 blocks from the notorious canal street and I did some shopping. I love the dial of the watch I bought but the movement is pure crap with applied (read "glued on") perlage on the rotor and a completely wrong crown. The dial is great, but that's about it. If you know of a source, please let me know.
