  1. Yeah, DSN's "new" case issue (crown/stem placement in the case) is known factor, Jay. Sorry someone didn't clue you in on what to expect beforehand. Personally, I think his PVD "normal" cases are the lesser of two evils in this case. He stated in his Pre-V dial thread that he was not going to attempt to create an accurate Pre-V case. That said, it doesn't have anything to do with all the other issues you had with your order.

My last order from DSN arrived DOA and I had to return it at my own expense, but he *did* ship out a replacement watch right away, vs. waiting for the dead watch to return (which some dealers have done in the past).

Sadly, a lot of DSN's projects are 7 or 8 tenths of the way there, but none of them ever get to 9/10ths. His QC seems to be on a downward slide, and that is concerning...

  2. That's a $50 movement, if even. I'm not much into the Chinese watch seen (gen), but I know this movement is used A LOT in Chinese made chronos. Perhaps hit up the Chinese watch forum at WatchUSeek.com and see what they have to say? If you buy the watch just for the movement and strap, you're WAY overpaying, IMO.

  3. It is entirely possible to distinguish, in one's own heart, between two "wrongs" - the one being diluting a watch manufacturer's profits and brand image and the other being coercing defenseless children into working for little or no money in subhuman conditions. Many people don't have any problem making that distinction and making it does not make them a hypocrite. It is a reflection of one's priorities.

Wrong is wrong and illegal is illegal. Now, is knicking someone's wallet on the same level as murder? No, of course not. As you state, there are levels/degrees involved. I disagree that it's not hypocritical, both activities are illegal. Just because you find one morally acceptable and the other not doesn't change that.

  4. Seagull ST-19 manual-wind chrono (based from one of the Lemania manual-wind chrono movements, the 5100 maybe?).

Used in a lot of Speedmaster reps, the old-school PAM212 reps, and others. Reportedly it is a VERY solid movement.

  5. I have no idea, PAMman. All I saw was a quote from an email to one of the staff at RG that was posted in the Admin forum on RWI. It didn't contain any details of how/why he was figured out. I'm sure using the exact same username on the rep forums as on the gen forums didn't help.

  6. You forgot to add in your opinion! Everyone has crystal without AR why do you need to pay DSN premium prices? The ones I talk about are single AR coated and very original like

I'm unaware of any other dealers that sell SAPPHIRE crystals with no AR coating. Mineral crystals, sure, but not sapphire. Do you have any pics of the crystals you're talking about? I've bought PAM reps from DSN, Ruby, Joshua, Angus and Silix. ALL of them have had AR coating that is more noticeable than any of my gen PAMs.

Also, DSN charges $80 for a replacement crystal. Is this a premium price? I have no idea, as I've never bought just a crystal from any of the other dealers.

  7. Yes, as I understand it, he posted his modded rep Zero as gen, just as he did here until PAMman called him on the funky shape of the "R"s.

One of the admins from 'Risti.com emailed some of the staff here, and at RG and let them know the 'Ristis were displeased and had notified Panerai.

This didn't have anything to do with his homages, IMO. It had to do with passing off the Zero and his 009 as gens, nothing else.

  8. Sounds like a keyless works issue to me. After swapping a movement into a new case, I ran into the reverse situation -- it would only wind, no matter if the crown was pushed in or pulled out.

A quick trip to vaccum for a service straightened everything out.

    Good luck.

  9. This is a cool thread.

I figured I'd contribute an odd post :)

This morning my son was eating Apple Jacks (cereal) and pulled a watch out of the box.

It was too big for his wrist, and too small for mine (until I nearly tore the band stretching it over my hand) and I wore this to the office today because of him!

Yes, it rivals some of your beautiful gens, and it's a Hot Wheels! I must admit I got some odd questions but hey, who cares!

LOL! Too cool, lishper. How is everything in East Lansing? Too bad I moved, or we could have grabbed a beer at the Roadhouse and talked watches!
