  1. Pretty bad copy:

    No sandwich dial

Incorrect movement (incorrect shaped bridge, Officine Panerai engraving and no swan neck regulator)

    Polished versus brushed crown guard

    short canon pinion

It's an "F" series rep, so it shouldn't have a sandwich dial or a brushed CG. Your other points are valid, however.

  2. Vic, your DSN 112 has good "A"s, even if the overall font is a bit thin.

Corgi, I don't need to chill. I never claimed it was the end of the world or that I wouldn't wear the watch. Quite the opposite, actually. If you read my other posts, I clearly state that I ordered the watch KNOWING about the low "A"s. I'm wearing it today, actually.

However, as I also said in my other posts, just because it's a flaw I'm willing to live with doesn't mean it isn't a flaw worth discussing. It also doesn't mean that it isn't an easy way to spot a rep.

"Dude... Chill." -- Sage advice, perhaps you'd be well served to heed it yourself?

  3. Thanks to all the others for their amusing criticisms. As babola pointed out, someone can't stand the "A" issue, many others don't even notice it. To me, all this rep thing is a hobby and a game, where I like to discuss about all details, even the tiniest ones, and even when they do not really bother me as someone may think.

Yep, it is a game. Part of the game, for me, is to make the reps I buy better. Better to me is anything that improves the reliability, accuracy or functionality of the watch. The same reason I like to modify cars or motorcycles, really. Do any of these things NEED modification? Not really, but it's fun.

I'm not out to fool anyone. No, the low crossbars won't cause me to put the watch away in a drawer and never wear it, I knew it had low crossbars when I ordered it.

However, just because that flaw won't keep me from wearing the watch isn't a reason for me to pretend it's not there or not easily spotted if you know what to look for. Most people don't.

There was a dial being sold on ViaPaneristi.com that was a rep dial, spotted by the low crossbars in the letter "A". The seller didn't know it was a rep and kye_lin almost bought it for $750.

  4. That movement pictured sure looks Swiss to me...

DSN's Ti case/crown for the 036 is more accurate. There are some issues with the shade of brown used on DSN's watch, though.

The dial pictured has the incorrect "L Swiss L" whereas it should be "T Swiss T". The Zigmeister can fix this issue, from what I've read/seen in other threads.

  5. Hmmmm, interesting. I just followed the link and looked at the photos. Straight spokes on the balance wheel but using the Incabloc anti-shock system. I would tend to agree that movement is a knock-off ETA.

Has someone notified Ruby? I know she's not real technical when it comes to watches, I think it's likely that these are being sold to her as "Swiss" from her supplier...

  6. Ahh... so is that their bait and switch? These guys advertise as Swiss movements, but they're as you described above? Ok, I'm still learning. Thanks for that info.

ANY 6497 that has Panerai decorated bridges is using Asian bridges. Not really bait and switch, IMO. The only 100% Swiss 6497s you'll find in rep watches are the ones that come with one of the standard levels of ETA decoration and no Panerai markings.
