  1. Interesting. I was under the impression that noone's watches were successfully shipped. Good news, though it doesn't make me feel any better I didn't buy the additional strap, paid on 4.11.07 hopefully this week sometime
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/SCUDERIA-CHRONOGRAPH-W...1QQcmdZViewItem How brazen, says right in the description that it has an asian auto 28,8

  4. For anyone interested... It has been two months of wear and the strap has broken in nicely. The leather is very flexible now and has lost most of the funky smell. The post and whole closure is holding up, though the hole has stretched out about 50% The copper stitching has a nice green patina (ala Statute of Liberty), that I think adds a cool touch The rivets are all in place and holding firm. All and all, I am very pleased with the way its performing. -P
  5. @CC - I feel your pain. Though I consider myself luck, because I did receive a watch and it did have an ETA in it. Ofcourse it also had 3 dial markers fall off within the first 3 months. What I find to be the most absurd is the way they try and convince people that the only smart way to buy is with COD...

  7. What on earth is steam boat? Unless.... ... You wouldn't be eating.... HIM?!?
  8. No check in? Im not one to worry, but i was hoping for some light at the end of the tunnel
  9. I am bit confused. In Techie's original post, didn't he state "If all I worked on were top drawer Chopard's and APs, you can bet they'd get that treatment everytime. But i'm working in the real world, and the time saved gets passed on to the consumer as dollars saved." Seems the argument isn't which is the proper way to service, but whether or not ETA movements are worthy of this service. The Zigmeister seems to think they are, Techie seems to think they aren't... I know I think mine are... By the way, interesting post
  10. Oh goodness, you got him fired up. I don't drive a ferrari, but I will wear one - soon. Ferrari didnt commision the watch in order to be an accessory for those who drive their cars, rather it was designed(as other car affiliated watches were) to challenge their design team. Ferrari is more than a car manufacturer and they want to prove that. They want to be a concept, that is why there is a cologne and clothing with their logo. Just as Porsche Design has pens and other things, one need not own the car but simply appreciate their design team to own the product
  11. something like this http://www.rwg.cc/members/Where-have-I-been-t23473.html
  12. I just received a watch from a small town in canada, I am in MI. It took 16 days and the tracking # never worked. But the watch is here
  13. Yes, that's a rep. The gens have chronofunctions on the subdials. There are grahams with right side crowns, but they do not have the massive plunger The trigger was instituted in order to allow bombers, in the cold underbelly of the plane, to initiate the chrono function with padded gloves on. So in essence it is designed for right handed users I love these, and wish I could afford a gen. Until that day, I am also waiting for a decent rep
  14. Not sure, the fiddy is my only panerai. Drop him a PM
  15. There are other members in the US that do modifications... I just got my fiddy back from Flav with cannon pin and davidsen hands. he rec'vd the watch on April 23rd, and it arrived in the mail today. Perfect. No BS about shipping and handling, no going incommunicato. Perfect I believe we will all be better off from now on
  16. This is why I posted my Sub in the rolex forum. I purchased what was supposed to have $450.00 worth of mods done to it. When I received the watch, one of the movement clamps was gone. He just forgot to put it back in! When the previous owner contacted him to tell him that the watch was no long winding, he told him that "the stem prolly wasn't engaging, easy fix" Smells bad to me
  17. A few more pics since some people enjoy patronizing a man for taking poor shots. @cib0rgman - the purpose of this thread was to see if there is any reasons someone should pay 600.00 for this watch. It was also to point out that the person who modified the watch left out a tab. A pretty serious mistake if you ask me. @alligoat - yes he did. and now it works wonderfully. Oh, and I am not sure how I double posted this. I appologize
  18. In my search for a true beater watch, I decided to buy a sub. I put out a request for a sub in any condition. I ended up buying this one for $50.00 shipped. Here's what i was told was done to it. Well that's the best I can figure - seeing as RBJ wont tell me what he did to it and the owner doesn't seem to know. 1. King's sub 2. RBJ did some cosmetic modding: reworked CG's but not to genuine specs, greased up the O-rings in the crown/tube and under the caseback 3. Pressure tested it; realign crystal; did some cleaning; tighten up bezel 4. re-align rep insert The seller told me he paid around $600.00 for this sub. Is it worth it? You tell me. Also, it should be noted that when I bought this watch it would not auto-wind. Or, so it was described. When I opened the package the watch was running fine, but it was clear that the movement wasn't secured in the case. I took the watch to my smith and he told me that one of the clamps was missing, allowing one half of the movement to swing free. The previous owner assured me that he never opened the watch. What does this mean?? Anyway. Here are the pics:
