  8. I decided I wanted an ammo pouch watch strap, but I don't care for the ones available commercially - and they're pricey So, inspired by the posts of others I decided to make my own. I started with buying these off Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1 10 bucks, not bad. The over all condition of the pouches is good, the stitching on the pouches was in amazingly good shape (considering the age) Here's pouch I used back view. I especially liked this pouch because of the embossing, it is important to me to preserve the embossing I set out pulling the stitching so that I could determine how much workable leather is there Just in case you don't know how to use a stitch puller, you just run the point between the leather and the stich, as so. I soaked the leather pieces in a large bowl of water in order to help loosen it up. The leather is 50 years old and stiff, but it was more workeable after soaking. It also helped to eliminate some of the odor and dust I wrapped the leather with a rubber band to help work it out The leather is quite thick so I decided not to laminate it, this would also eliminate the need for stitching, which I prefer in this instance. It also made it very difficult to fold the leather in half. In order to facilitate the folding, I used three pieces of wood and some deck screws I then cut the leather to the appropriate size, uzing the rep strap as a guide. I used gorilla glue to laminate the fold for the lugs. I then picked up some rivets from the crafts store that had stars on them, I dig em Rather than use a buckle, I used a post and a hole. I really like the look of it. I took the last bit of embossed leather and made a stay with it. Keeping with the no-sew theme, I used copper wire to make some staples. Seen above I also had to thin the leather out quite a bit in order to get it in the lugs because of the thickness. Well here it is -All and all I am very pleased with the way the strap turned out and it wasn't difficult at all. -Physher
  9. I think a carbon fiber strap with red stitching would look nice, something like they put on tag's
  10. Thank you Ubi. I have a pocket watch, set in leather that I am told resembles a watch on page 136 of that book. I have been unable to obtain the book so far without paying the $150.00 or so to buy it off of Amazon. this is the watch. I have been unable to get any information about it, as it is unsigned Thanks again!
  11. I am looking for one page out of this book (136) in order to help ID a watch. Does anyone have this book that might be able to help me out?/ Thanks
  12. My first beauty, 1988 Cutlass No sweet memories here, I friggin hated that car
  13. @elprime - I dig the omega warranty card under uour date just
  14. I managed to get a pretty good look under the balance and the only inscription I could find was "ST"... I can't imagine this helps but...
  15. It doesn't appear that way to me, though I am by means experienced with this sort of thing. I suppose there should be some remnants of the second hand no? Unfortunately, the watch isn't running at this point so its hard to say how its supposed to work
  16. I recently purchased this watch off Ebay - it was a spontaneous buy so I didn't do the sort of research I generally do. Now I have a watch, the origins of witch are a mystery. There doesn't appear to be any hallmarks on either the watch or the fob, just the swiss made at the bottom of the dial and on the movement. Anyone out there able to help me? I sure would appreciate any information you might have Thanks Gents -Mike
  17. Do you have any pics of the watch you actually received?
  18. I always take my watch off, I don't know why. What I do know, is that if your wearing a chrono during sex (Ubi) your not doin' it right.
  19. I think you missed the point here Dwight. What By-tor is trying to tell you is that you bought an awful replica and having the movement serviced wouldn't be worth the money. I noticed you were trying to get ahold of The Zigmeister. To have your movement serviced by The Zigmeister would cost $200.00 + shipping both ways. Rather than sink more money into a lost cause your better buying a better rep all together. You wouldn't spend much more money that the service would cost you, and it would certianly keep better time than the one you have. If you are intent on keeping the watch you have and managing to get it to keep better time, you should send it in to The Zigmeister - get it serviced and reguted and I am sure it will tick away for quite awhile. But you'll still have a crappy rep. That's just the way it is... trust me, it has happened to alot of us. If you decide to step up to a good rep and need to now where to look, just PM me.
  20. Mike makes a very good point, that despite that fact that one may want an SS bracelet or silver hands it doesn't make the watch very accurate. The carrera is meant to be a sports watch, and tag has purposfully designed this watch to suit the sport of racing. If you want a classy watch, I suggest looking at a watch that is designed to be classy. I say give us the most accurate rep that can be delivered. Then wear your watches accordingly
  21. -tonton: I know that you would never accuse Sash of that. I just wanted to circumvent any inquisition - I have spoken with Sash many times and would never hesitate to send him my money. I would hate for anyone to have misgivings about his integrity.
  22. Ok, but how many replica flashlights do you own? I have a noobmaglight that looks great, but the rehaut in is WAY off
  23. To be fair to Sash, 15 minutes with photshop will give you the image below... Imagine if you had more time. Watermarks are great and all, but not fool proof. Oh, and I left the "D" for the sake of comparison
  24. So I went to Walmart and got an eyeglass kit and actually two of the screws fit. Wonderful! I am wearing it proudly now. Thanks!
