Great post! I think we all can benefit from knowing how to do small things like this to our watches. As an interesting side note, my local guy here is a fanatic about refinishing and is the greatest perfectionist I have ever seen. He does all his refinishing under 30 power and if it doesn't look perfect under that magnification he won't let it out. I recently saw a 20 year old yellow gold Day-Date he did and the watch looked absolutely new. A true artist. I always said I would like to know how to do this better than the little touch ups I do myself. Thanks again.

Two part answer. First, I guess if i could only have one it would be the 42MM PO, which I have had for some time. Until VERY recently this was the only Omega I liked at all. But I just discovered the new Deville Rattrapante with the grey dial. Actually, I wish they still made the cream dial. That has just got to be added to the Omega list. Amazing.

The 42MM PO again today...

So I finally see what my long long twin brother looks like

No contest. 3717. Much more diverse and flexible. The Corum is a nice piece but more of a "fun" piece. The IWC is more "serious" and classic and timeless. It is also a more manageble size. A 48M watch is not always welcome depending on attire and circumstance.

Awesome man. Just awesome. A really nice and focused collection. I'm kinda partial to the Fish of course...

Leave my pair out of this guys...

Mine is this version. Will do pictorial soon:

Maybe that is the answer. RWG needs to be publicly traded. I will take it out on the Q's under the trading symbol NOOB and give Rolex a shi*tload of warrants at like .02 in exchange for immunity from prosecution. Next I will negotiate a deal to sell Noob Subs at every Walmart in America...

Can't let this pass now without posting my favorite Eastwood line of all time: All right, I'm comin' out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna kill him. Any son of a bi*ch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, I'm gonna kill his wife. And all his friends. Burn his damn house down."

Robbie DOESN'T have a Day-Date, only a lowly Datejust. He wants both a platinum and rose DD though. As a result, Robbie should be working more and posting less so he can pay for them. Then again, work for me is basically an exercise in patience - sitting and waiting for the right opportunities. So what better to do in the meantime than read and post on my good ole' home page RWG? BTW, you gotta love Andy if only because he has a hot chick in his avatar...

Yeah, I have the 42MM with smooth black dial and black gator. I have got to shoot that one soon. It just takes a while to clean up the old ones and then clone stamp out the dust in post so unless I shoot a watch right when I get it I kind of lose my motivation. I'll try and do that one soon though. It is my travel watch. Their patented forwards and backwards GMT pushers makes it so easy. And the date moves backwards too! Awesome...

The 42MM PO hasn't been getting much wristtime lately with an over abundance of love going to newer aquisitions. Let's change that shall we?

Bored today with the market stuck in a tight range. So I saw these two just sitting there and decided to pose the "best buds" for a photo...

Edwin always has the most compelling avatar images. Hmmm.....

Yes, the glacier is just beyond the beyond of luxury to the hundredth power. To me, that watch is it - the ultimate platinum dress watch on a bracelet hands down. Add a strapped platinum offering from Lange (L1, Richard Lange, Saxomat, etc.) and a platinum Malte Chono from VC and you have the holy Trinity in 950...

Yes, that is true. If you want an Oyster you need to get a DJ. Personally I think it is a good idea as the Preident bracelet helps differentiate the otherwise similar lines. I also think that the President bracelet is more blingy, which suits the DD best as they are only offered in precious metals. The precious metals are rougher looking than SS when brushed and that makes the center polished links stand out all the more. And the President braclet has more smaller links as opposed to less and bigger ones on the Oyster. The president just shines more and is also more dressy. Don't get me wrong though, I LOVE the Oyster on my DJ because it crosses over better so the watch can be worn casually too. I have these two in my sights to complete my Rolex dress watch collection. I just love the platinum/glacier combo as well as the Everrose/Tahitian MOP. They are just on fire in person and make my rhodium DJ look like a toy. But the prices? I guess I better have a good year huh? PS: I'm not a gold guy as to me yellow gold is unattractive and rose gold is usually marginal and overdone. Rolex rose gold to me is the best looking by far - and it will look the same forever which is a plus. The color of much rose gold starts looking green really quickly. You all know how much I love UN and their rose gold is the worst ever. I ordered a new MMD Chrono in rose on rubber and I never even unwrapped it. I sent it back because the color made me want to hurl. If you haven't checked out Rolex Everrose - do so. This pic doesn't do it justice. It is pretty amazing...

Two Tone. One of our fearless gatekeepers. Also one of the only Americans I know with a French passport. He also lives in a beautiful part of the country which is enviable. Hint, there are a lot of green trees and the air is salty.

I don't know why but Freddy reminds me of a young George Carlin for some reason...

Does that GST fire 9MM rounds or .40SW?
-
Yeah, that DDII in platinum wears about 43MM - the 36's wear like 38's too just as you said. But the sports watches wear right at 40 - just what they are - except the new GMT ceramic which wears about 42 due to the chunky lugs and case shape.

Hey nobody loves me? I'm invisible...

Lani brings me back home with the spirit of Ohana. Hawaii was my home for a time and he reminds me of the kindness and selflessness of the Hawaiian people. He is no exception. It is also nice to have someone to "talk story" Hawaiian style with. I'll call you soon Brah!

That is why Rob is Rob and I am sort of like the "other" Rob. It is his world, I only live in it. Just when I think I learn something I have to go and unlearn it. Shucks...
