  1. Moot point on the first one as it's now sold. Here is my rule of thumb, crappy photos, big minus. New seller, small minus, new seller plus sales of cheap non watch items, big minus. This seller hits all three minuses. Someone is going to be very disappointed when they find out that this is a fake. I believe that what a lot of these sellers rely on is the buyer will wear the watch, and nothing goes wrong with it for a good period of time, by the time the buyer figures out he got scammed, it's too late to do anything.
  2. Beautiful watches!! I am also a fan of black/white DW's
  3. 16613 for breakfast this morning and then this one for the beach.
  4. Thanks Matt, I was just throwing this out for opinions. Not sure that it would even be possible, and if it could be done who knows what the reliability factor would be, the cost, or if the final product would even fit in the case and be usable.
  5. I have a 1680 with a gen dial, and the route mymanmatt took was to enlarge the dial seat. This works very well, however you still have a slight problem, as the minute markers extend out almost to the edge of the dial, so when you put the dial in place, it fits, but the dial opening is still too small, which makes the Rehaut cover part of the minute markers. This would be unnoticeable by about 99.9% of the folks that see the watch, but the other .1% would notice it. We have a fair number of Rolex guys here, that fall into that .1%, so they would notice it. Certainly much more evident with dial on photos enlarged 10x like we have here!!! Here is mine, can you tell the tell?
  6. I got a PM from one of our most respected members a couple of days ago, suggesting using a 3135 ( yuki or other 3135) as the base for a CHS movement for a GMT II C. My question is, has anyone ever done this, thought about doing it, or is it even feasible to attempt this? I know nothing about the gen movements in the GMTIIC, so no idea as to what is added to the base 3135 to convert it to a GMT with a settable hour hand. What are your thoughts on this? If this were possible, it would allow the use of gen hands. Since gen bezels and dials are available, this would be the most gen like IIC possible.
  7. If you want it done right, Bob Ridley is your man. He probably has the parts or has sources to find them. Bob is a genuine nice guy and his communication is top notch. He's restored several gens for me, and I was very pleased with the results. He isn't cheap, but in the end, it's worth it
  8. Heading for the beach tomorrow, much needed week of sun, sand and good seafood.
  9. You're right, too bad the posts from the old RWG and TRC couldn't have been carried over to here!! I would have made Powermax several years sooner!!!
  10. I haven't posted here in a while ( this thread) , however, Mike called me a couple of weeks ago, after we played phone tag for a couple of days. We had a very good positive conversation, about things that were going on, as well as my watch that's with him now, a DW 6365 Daytona that he's putting together for me. Like many of the DW cases, there were some crown tube issues trying to use a gen tube. I'm sure Mike will get it put together, and eventually, it will be done, and done correctly. I've been in the watch game for a long, long time, and one thing I have developed is patience. A gen Omega 300 Seamaster that went back to Bienne for restoration and was gone for 6 months, a vintage Doxa 600 that's at at RGM ( at that time the USA service center) for one year waiting on parts and finally sent back unfinished as they claimed that they couldn't find the correct parts, a MKII Kingston that was over 18 months from deposit to delivery, and finally a MKII GMT homage to the Rolex 6542, 50% deposit sent in January 2012 and the watch is still probably at least 6-9 months from delivery!! So from my perspective, waiting a couple of months for Mike to catch up is just a blip in time. I feel sure that Mike will finish up or return every watch that was sent to him, owners choice. I also feel that this experience while very traumatic for Mike and stressful to the owners of the watches will in the end be positive, in that Mike will learn from the experience and will develop a more organized business model that will be much better for him and future customers. Life lessons unfortunately, usually give the test first and the lessons later. Maybe in the long run we are better for it, as these are the lessons we tend to never forget.
  11. You are NOT allowed to make back door sales, and it's also very impolite to jump in the middle of another members thread with a sales pitch! I know that you are new, but that doesn't exempt you from the rules we all follow.
  12. Where are you located? In the sales thread, he states that the watch is in the EU, but not specifically where. I'm sure Andy will get to the bottom of this. I cannot see for the life of me see why folks don't return Pm's or emails. If I sell something, I have and obligation to let the buyer know when I send the package out, furnish a working tracking number, and follow up if he messages me. Just common courtesy and good business sense.
  13. I'm not liking the CG's, That looks like a 5.3mm crown but the CG spacing is for a 6mm crown. Also it doesn't look like the CG's are even, the bottom one has more slope on the inside and the space between the CG and the crown isn't even. Would be nice to see some of rolexaddict's photos of his 1675's.
  14. I agree with Pete, start a new thread, don't resurrect a 6 year old one. When I started reading the thread, didn't look at the date either, but when I saw TTK as a dealer, I knew something was amiss!!! Problem with these old threads, the info is stale and often inaccurate. New members see it and they get a bunch of inaccurate info, which causes confusion.
  15. both the DG 3804 or the ETA 2846 with the GMT module are the correct movements for the 1675. both are slow beat. Either would do, the DG3804 would be a new movement, the 2846 will definitely be old, as they haven't been produced for 20+ years. Would most definitely require a service. Both of these movements are the CHS for the 1675 as the 1675 employed the old conventional GMT, Hour, Minute, Seconds hand stack. AFA the crown, the correct crown for the 1675 is a 5.3mm. Unfortunately, the rep cases that are economically available are all set up for a 6mm crown, so the 5.3 won't look right, as there will be too much space between the crown and the crownguards. Sad to say, this to me is the biggest tell with a rep 1675/16750. Anyone who is really familiar with or has owned a gen 1675 or 16750 can tell at a glance that it's a rep if you use a 6mm crown or a 5.3mm in the case that's made for a 6mm. Not sure there is a workaround for this short of having someone laser weld and build up the insides of the crown guards, and then reshape them.
  16. Thanks Mike, I'm good. I sure hope we can get this payment problem solved, I know that it's impossible to run a forum like this with no income.
  17. Guys, as a long time member here, I have seen my share of scams, and attempted scams. First off, I can't repeat this enough, buy the seller then the watch. that's the first commandment of buying, not only reps, but genuine watches, whatever it may be where face to face sales are not possible. Second, if something smells like three day old fish left on the dock, then you had better run away as fast as you can. We are not dealing with exotic vintage autos, old masters paintings, etc. there isn't a watch around, outside of a few astronomically priced one offs, that isn't mass produced. So if you walk away from a sale, rest assured over time other watches that are as good or better than this one will come up for sale. And last, please, if you believe that someone is trying to pull a scam, or breaking forum rules with back door sales, by all means contact a moderator. Every post has at the bottom of the posters profile, a button with a little yellow triangle and the word report. If you feel like something isn't right, report the thread and alert the mods. Your vigilance may save another forum member a lot of money.
  18. I have used Matt on several occasions, his work is outstanding. He can source a gen dial and the correct hands to fit your movement. Matt also has a technique that allows him to use gen dials without cutting the feet. Doesn't work on all movements, button some it does. He built this Day/Date for me, gen dial, crown and bezel, his case.
  19. I would contact Tissot directly.Even though this is not a current model, it's a 2011 watch, so it hasn't been out for long. I would bet that they could scare you up and owners manual, or provide a link to download one.
  20. I would concur with the Seiko, can be had for around 250 USD, and a nice used one, look over on the WUS sales forum. Lots of nice Seikos for sale there and EBay.
  21. One post, one day here, obviously you didn't do one seconds worth of research before you asked the same question that has been asked about a Billion times on this and every other watch forum. Read, research and then you can come back and ask a more directed question.
  22. I can certainly relate to all of you, I have had lots of hobbies over the years, some pretty expensive, including this watch obsession that's been going on for probably around 45 years. As I get older, I find that my desires to have "things" has lessened somewhat. Pretty much confined to watches and power tools and equipment that I need to maintain a house and around 20 acres of property. I could probably fill a warehouse with stuff I have bought over the years, things that I "had to have" at the time, but pretty quickly realized, weren't essential. Most of us have way more than we need to get by with, it's just that uncontrollable urge to hit the "Pay Now" button that get's most of us in trouble!!
