Thanks you for the comments guys :D Not only a question of money mate, so much hurt and so much pain involved in this build...

I was too lazy to do it today, but I'll upgrade the thread sooner or later with mov. pics

The rotor of your movement is independent of the case, maybe it needs a little cleaning :-) If a gen tube and your end links fits your case, there is not much worry to have ;-) To he clear, Phong case is the best you can have, but you have to be careful with the fitting of gen parts, especially with a Daytona

Hello RWG ! After many weeks months years (2 years, in fact) of a very hard journey, I finally finished my first manual Daytona project - the 6265 Finding the parts was hard... Finding the right watchmaker to work with was very hard... Next step is a 6240 with the same kind of parts Here is a quick list of the parts used : - Valjoux 726 "Roamer" in pristine-like-new conditions. Takes 1sec by day on the timegraph, can you believe it ? - Phong case and case back, 5.2 mil, 2nd generation "thin" case to emulate a polished case over the time - Silver Big Red dial, 2nd generation, with gen hands. Most of the Tritium plots are here, witch is very good - Gen MKIII 6265 bezel - NOS 702 crown and 7020 tube - Gen T21 - Phong pushers, because his case is a big [censored] [censored] of [censored]. It would be gen P302 otherwise - 7835 bracelet and 271 end links, because 571 are not fitting, and I was lucky enough to find this bracelet in new conditions 1 week ago. End links was NOS / never used, can you believe it ? -- Because some photos talks much better than I can, here we are... Hope you'll enjoy it !!! Cheers ! :) R.

Hi there ! I guess my 6538 project has started in a beautiful way... Hard to find a 1030 movement in this conditions ! Already have the packaged gen 800 crown and 8000 tube And waiting for the dial and the other parts... Thanks A. - you're the best ! R.

I am referring to the manual Daytona's 62xx, The lug holes problems are a common to the majority of the Phong cases I think. I had some problems to fit the 585 end links to my 1665 case for example. About the pushers, I don't know because I used a gen 16520 case to avoid any problems. You should try to screw your pushers and try your end links asap, that's my best advise.
-
Just checked the original P302 pushers with my 2nd Daytona case - a 6240. I'm not watchmaker, but it seems it do not screw properly too. So I bet I have the same problem on my 2 cases. And I hate the idea I have to re-send him the case over the seas... Is it so f**king difficult to make aftermarket pushers with the right size ? This makes me mad !

It's a pleasure, even if I'm very disappointed to have seen this by myself Just a little thing to make it clear - Phong is indeed the right person to go with for a big Daytona project. But you have to make sure he will deliver you a good case. All the Phong cases are not the same. Some are great and with the good specs, some are bullshit.

Hi RWG Today was a really good day, just finished my first Daytona after a very long journey to find parts, and the most important, finding the good watchmaker to make the dream happen. As you probably know, making a Daytona is really a hard thing to do considering the lack of parts, and the lack of good watchmakers. And even bad watchmakers are claiming they are good... I'll make a thread about this one day. About my new Daytona, I'll make another thread very soon with some photos... I think you'll enjoy it -- For now, this is a big warning for all the Phong customers : Be very careful about the case you will buy from him From my own experience : - Pushers holes are NOT at the Rolex specs. It is ~2,4mm instead of 2,5mm. Means, it works fine with the Phong aftermarket pushers, but you CANNOT fit gen pushers if you want to. Threads are very very thin, and my WM strongly discouraged me to retap / refill the pushers holes. For the persons who said the Phong pushers are the same than the Rolex replacement service (P302). No, it is not. Not at all - Lugs holes are NOT at the good position at all. I've seen that more that one time, and it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to fit the correct end links, a.k.a. the 571. The most stupid thing is you are forced to use DateJust 557 end links if you want to stay "cheap" but gen. What a shame. And it seems it's happening with the majority of the Phong cases I have seen so far. From seen experience : - Sometimes, the hole for the case tube is not at the Rolex specs. Hopefully, it didn't happen to me, but this is a real, real, real shame considering the price he is asking for his cases. -- So from now, I will send him case tube, crystal, and pushers (if it's a Daytona case) to make sure all is working right. I strongly encourage you to do the same, until he decide to stop shipping cases what are not at the Rolex specs. Fortunately, he is the right person to choose if you want to fit your gen parts on your case because he know his cases, and he have the right tools to do the job. Hope this thread will save you from much worries if you are planning to order a case from him ! Cheers ! R.

I don't know any rep bracelet for this model, considering there is no replica "out of the box" Even the gen bracelets does not come into the market very often You should consider gen end links with a rep 93150 bracelet maybe ?

I agree, movement don't look good at all. A lot of corrosion, needs a lot of work, and it will cost some money to have a clean a nice running movement Plus the fact it don't have the right holes for the clamps to fit into a Daytona case (now I know it..........) Unless it's less than 300€, I would stay away from this Better to find a movement in better conditions, even if the price is higher, you will have much less worries about it

Oops Corrected ! Pm'd !
-
Oh BTW, just thought about it but I have a luminova black dial for sale in mint conditions... PM me if you're interested !
-
Mine says "hello"... (very quick photo before I take the time to make a thread here - will come after this f***king El Primero will work correctly) Good luck with your project !!! About that - make sure the El Primero you will buy is in fully working conditions. These are a real mess to repair !

From what I've seen it is durable, in the short term. When I bought / make a Rolex, it's at least for 20 years, and the DLC will not survive that long from what I've read But maybe somebody here can confirm or infirm ?
-
Phong is also doing DLC coating, but my personal opinion is to don't do that on a gen / high-value rep. The DLC is too much fragile, and is a mess to be 100% removed from the case once your realize if will not last many years in good conditions... DLC's great for exposition, but not good for daily wearing My .2$ !
-
Your dial is a re-dial, right ? I hope you didn't paid too much for it - the printings looks very odd to me
-
I agree, other sellers have many "big" flaws... @OP, Maybe it would worth the cost to ask Phong some recent photos, I know he had some cool Daytona dials for sale... like this : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/QUALITY-REDONE-DIAL-GREEN-OMAN-DIAL-DAYTONA-REF-6263-/181043785420?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2a270ceecc#ht_500wt_834 Not even close as the gen, but if you want replica... I think it's pretty cool About the hands - never DW. Especially if you go with a v726. The middle chrono seconds hand is too much fragile. Phongs hands are not too bad. Not tested by myself, but they looks far better quality than DW under a loupe. Just ask for a photo before shipping, he mixed up some of my hands one day.

Wow mate, speechless, one of the best franken Daytona for sure... the P301 are icing on the cake !!! Big congrats ! Can't wait to post some photos of mine... soon...
-
So funny to see a lot of the VRF / VRM members are from our forums... About the DD - Phong was used to deliver a 16000 genuine customized case if I trust my case And about the OP in the VRF post - I'm sure he read here - he should know he is not asking "a dial for a franken with 1555 cal.", but better a "white gold dial for 180X ref.", witch sound far better IMO Very hard to come with, BTW

This is too much BC's for one guy mate... Sell one to me, sell one to me
