  1. Can't wait to see the watch assembled mate !!! Will be amazing for sure :)
  2. Can't agree more with you, mate... Careful, these parts will not be easy to sell... unless you are selling it as a lot on the bay. Could also make a great franken... Why not ? It makes sense to me to do it if the price of the complete watch is right. Also, not bad to can check the movement by yourself, it's usually not a good idea to buy a movement alone from someone you don't know. But as cc33 said, send a quick message to M*loja to see what he can do for you... He is a good guy to deal with. If he can find you a good deal, it will be easier for you ...!
  3. If you want to go with a v72, my best advice is to throw this case away, start a new project, and go with a Phong case. IMHO, putting a valued movement into that case is not a good idea, because after you will to change it for something more accurate. I don't talk about the current crown, pushers, bezel, etc. And also not talking about the fact you will need a new dial, and hands. If you want a better dial, gen dial is a must ($1800+), or Minh dial ($1500 ?). The only cheap alternative in DW, but you already have one for 7750. If there is something wrong with this A7750, it probably can be serviced. If you really want to upgrade your current project, you should think about gen 703 crown, 7030 tube, and T21 crystal. Reshaping the back of the middle case (at the crown position) should be a good idea, too. If you want to jump to something better, you should think about the way you can start another project PS: v72 is not "reliable", unless you are ready to spend extra $$$ to have a complete service / overhaul. Also, it is much easier to break it than the 7750 workhorse. PS2: Not even sure if you can fit a v72 into a 7750 designed case, will probably need some extra work... Not worth it IMO
  4. I think engraving service in EU will be a great idea ! But will you be able to erase old engraving with a good finish in case of a re-engraving ? I'm talking about re-engraving between the lugs, and also the back-case. I think it needs specific tools to get the same like gen finish. Talking about the engraving for the outer back-case, any plans about it ? (COMEX, MilSub, etc.) Also, all the Rolex models have different kind of engraving in terms of size, fonts, padding, placement, etching depth, etc. Even the Phong of Minh work are not good for some models (I think about the bad engraving on my 1665 done by Phong). I think there is a lot of work to make a "database" of the correct engraving for each vintage Rolex model... It's not only a question of having the right engineering machine R.
  5. Thanks for the info mate ! This is very sad to see this project finally don't finish as expected, especially when I see the 5514 COMEX dial whoopy's made...!!!
  6. A quick bump, but is this project really aborted ?
  7. There is also a cheap chrono hand for black dial, correct for 6263/5, but without pinion here : http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1369445030/FS+6263-40+bezel%2C+6263-5+hand%2C+16520+dial%2C+295+crystal+%2816520%29%2C+1601+dial Also, a skilled watchmaker can repair it with a new pinion, and your problem is solved
  8. Please look here : http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1370600190/FS-+--++manual+Daytona+Handset+only+390+Euros+-- "Old style" hands, missing the 3 hands for sub-dials, but the price is good IMO. No doubt about the fact they are original. The black paint can be easily removed by a skilled watchmaker to recover the metal color >>> you should check with him before buying them The only bad point is they are not "good" in terms of period for your 6263. It's more for 6238, 39, 40, 62, etc. >>> personally, I think they will looks good with a PN dial.
  9. What is amazing to see is it's redials are not quite as good as we have seen on your projects mate...
  10. Aluminium on rep hands vs. brass or white gold for gen hands, Not the same thickness and "profile" on rep hands. Rep hands are flat and poorly made. Gen hands are in "3d", with much more metal, they are more solid and much better constructed Hopefully gen hands this time, because all the rep hands have the same problem of slipping chrono hands / bent over the time then break Epoxy fixing is not the way to go. It's a crap "solution" on this kind of build, not watchmaking. There is some nice gen hands on VRF right now for less than 400€. You can remove the black paint on the chrono hand and you have the correct way to do that correctly Otherwise, this is a very nice build CptTripps, you can consider yourself lucky to have done it this quickly :)
  11. Case => Phong or nothing. MQ or InGod are far away from the Phong work Dial => If you want a newman dial, MQ. If you want a "classic" dial, DW if you are on budget, but if you go for Phong case + V72/6, I'll strongly suggest you to find at least a gen luminova service dial. It's worth the cost. Hands => NEVER go for DW hands, these are bad quality. If you go with a V72, Phong hands might do the trick (be sure to ask photos before he ships, before his hands are not all good). If you go with V726, gen chrono hand is mandatory because the pinion of the movement is very large, and aftermarket hand will not like a strong enlargement If you go with gen dial, my best advise is to go with gen matching hands... because they simply worth the cost of never have "problems" like bent hands, or worse, broken hands. What is pretty simple to understand is the two majors lacks of the majority of Daytona builds are dial & hands. Many people don't think it worth the cost to go with gen hands, but trust me, none of the aftermarket options are good. If you want a solid and durable build without any "trick" like gluing the chrono seconds hand, gen is the only way. And I don't mention fake hands are spotted in seconds... simply because they don't look good at all. If your budget is restricted, I think it's better to going with aftermarket bezel, pushers, etc, because they are far more simple to change after. Once your $$$ dial is fitted on the movement, you don't want to swap hands too much time because of the risks... Hope this helps !
  12. The hands are from CWP, but relumed to match the dial of course
  13. The result is quite spectacular... as always, Mr. Bond Big Crown R.
  14. Hope this helps... Both for V72 and V726 Bovet Bucherer Certina 29-052 Certina 29-0531 Certina 29-063 Datora Enicar Eterna Favre Leuba Gallet Heuer Landeron Le Phare Longines 330 Marvin Minerva Oebra Orator Precision Roamer Stingray Wakmann Wittnauer 13W-2 Wyler Zodiac It maybe missing 2 or 3 brands, but you have the idea About the "some are better than others". Nope, just a question of finishing. There is at least 3 or 4 finishings, but you have to see the movement to see it. Anyways, it does not impact the time keeping or anything else, so if you don't want to go with some bad aftermarket "Rolex" bridges, etc, it does not matter. You just have to be careful if you buy a V72 : check if the holes for the clamps are here. If they are not here, stay away from the movement, you will have infinite difficulties to get it fixed into a Daytona case. If you go for a V726, as far as I know, they all have the correct holes. But you will have difficulties with the hands (if you go with aftermarket hands). But it is better to go on the 6263/5 route cause of the correct BPM. And don't forget to check if the movement is clean Good luck for hunting
  15. I have a black lumi dial for sale if it can help... Dr.B on VRF will have the gen pushers I think (P402)
  16. Valty

    Phong 6538

I think you got the perfect build... Congratz mate !!!!! Very, very, very beautiful !
  17. My watchmaker told me gen pushers (P302) were 4,5mm - but I don't know much more about it. Phong pushers were 4,4mm, so I guess 5,3mm is a way too large for gen pushers I hope Janeto will get an answer from The Zig, I would love to know what is the right tool to doing it
  18. My watchmaker told me it's 2,5mm - but I don't know much more about it... Thanks for asking mate
  19. Yes you have many many money into this build, I understand what you are feeling about it.....! I feel it will be kinda hard to sell this build... There is so many money involved in !!! I probably will consider it if I had not my 6265 and the incoming 6240........ But all in all, 50% of the gen price is good anyways for basically the *same* watch, except the 727 and the gen case ! PS: if you have advises about what tools are needed to retap / redo the threads for the pushers, it will be appreciated, I just can't live with the aftermarket pushers on my 6265 lol...
  20. If someone knows what tools to use to retap and redo the threading for the pushers, it would be much appreciated... I'll try to find someone here to do it - can't accept to keep aftermarket pushers on this case !!!
  21. Well, I need to check what tools are needed to retap and redo the threading of the case for the pushers Then, I'll ask my WM if he can do this. Or I have to find somebody in France to do it, because I'm not very hot to re-send my case to Phong over the seas If anyone have the info, or if anyone can ask The Zig about the tools needed (I know he is probably the best to do it), it would be much much appreciated....... --- and thanks again for the comments guys, so much appreciated !
  22. You seriously thinking about selling it ? Don't do this mate, you'll regret it !!!
  23. Thanks you all guys for the comments, it is really appreciated ! :) I'm now finishing my 16520 with my WM before starting the 6240... Will be an amazing build... I'll keep you updated ! Ohhh yes it worth it... The only thing I can say is I'm appreciating the build even more considering the time I had to wait to finally have it ...!
