  1. :D No "clicks" on 4 digits Subs / Sea Dweller, mate
  2. Don't think anything is usual on this kind of badly replicated / refinished dial
  3. Here is the useful URL : http://www.phfactor.net/wtf/Rolex/ Enjoy :)
  4. I have a useful URL with all the Rolex movement sheets, pm me this way I will not forget (not at home now)
  5. This does not surprise me at all - even if the photos are quite small, it looks very "strangely" built...
  6. v72 serviced => 1000€ no problems, unserviced but functional 800€. It don't looks clean from what I see, but difficult to tell with one SD photo Gen 703 / 7030 crown & tube => 150€ Gen T21 => I'm not really sure this is gen T21 !!! Look at the side photo, it looks ugly as hell. Maybe the gen T21 is not installed ? DW case set => 260€ Bracelet => 30€ ? For me, not more than 1300€ unserviced and 1500€ serviced But looking at the photos, it don't looks good to me. Look at the bottom sub-dial, it looks very very weird, the dial hole is at the right of the hand / pinion Better to pass IMHO, even at this price

    6538

Great to know your 6538 project is on a good way CC Can't wait to see the final result, it will be amazing !!!
  8. I personally agree it is better to allow this kind of sales only for known members to avoid problems as much as possible... Better to don't be hurry to sell this kind of pieces anyways. These are not easy to sell and buy. And better to do not lie / arrange about the provenance of the pieces, too. Knowing our community can avoid such big errors like that :) For now, I don't understand Chiller didn't want to take his time with us before selling his piece... Too bad ! Hope he will change his mind ! New passionates mates are always welcome
  9. 100% right, there is no 16520 from the cartel, the only road is the franken BTW, all the Daytona's from the cartel are not really like the real deal...
  10. And they tell us at the TV all the day it's the crisis... There is no more money... Some people not far away from my location (less than 50km around) don't even have money to heat their home. What a joke...
  11. Well, I have absolutely no charges for now, no children, etc. So I take this opportunity to make some great projects... :) It will be not the same later I guess ! We are more around 6k€ for this project... The only differences versus a gen are the middle-case and the global conditions of the watch. It's close to impossible nowadays to find a gen one in this conditions I think it worth the cost I have put on it ! To be honest, not that long (less than 1 year) - making a vintage Daytona is quite more difficult Rep world taught me patience... ~~ Anyways, thanks you guys for all the comments, these are all very appreciated ! :) I hope to come back soon with another great project...
  12. Each time I see RPR photos, I understand why we are not in the same world...
  13. The bezel is Gen mate, and NOS, this is why it looks so new From service, this is why this is deeper than the original bezel. My Phong bezel was not so deep BTW, and more like your photos
  14. Well, it seems some of you are right... Here is the full specs : - Dial -- Gen Tritium MKIV dial with an awesome white / very slightly yellow color. Congrats to praetor to have find this, it was not easy Not a service dial, and no luminova (it should be plain white with more thickness on the plots if it was lumi). Very hard to find in this condition if you ask me, most of the gen dials are now yellowish. What is funny is some members though it was a rep dial... I guess these are now very good, even if some details on the gen don't lie - Hands -- Gen Tritium hands with the exact same color. Minor corrosion on it. God damn, it was very hard to find too with this color (at least 1 year...). The set was on a awesome Gen Rail Dial some months ago - Middle case -- Phong case with a very, very good artificial aging. Probably the best I've seen so far ! S/N 6.63mil (around 1980), witch is good for the dial. I found 3 Gen watches with the same dial in this range. Too good to be a gen (so easily spotted for an expert), this is a long time I've not seen a Gen case with unmolested lugs & crown guards like that... But I like my case it very much Good to know is the holes for spring bars are placed to works with 580 end links. The 585 end links needs some bent to works properly ! - HE Valve V50 -- Unfortunately, it's from Phong too. I have the gen deal, NOS & sealed (now unsealed), but the Gen HE valve is too long to works with the Phong case. Too bad, because talking about the diameter of the valve, it's 100% the same ! Good news is the Phong valve is OK for waterproofing, it was not won ! - Case back -- Gen early service case back. Not articially aged, but naturally, it spent most of it's time on a very cool Gen Rail Dial before coming here 2 months ago. Still have most of it's black paint, what is very cool ! A little note, but there is at least 4 different service case back I've seen. Mine have the old-style coronet, and the stroke "Patented" inside the case back. I will do some photos later of the inside. - Bezel -- Gen NOS bezel from Rolex. Very hard to find ! Amazing to see nobody talked about it It makes a great difference VS. any aftermarket bezel. The metal work is just perfect, nothing else to say... If you looks careful to the photos, you can see it makes a lot of difference with any aftermarket bezel - Insert -- It's a Gen Fat Font MKII, lightly faded (it is blue with sunlight), with a matching color Tritium pearl. Nobody was wrong, it let me thinks some work have to be done by our favorite aftermarket factories ! Especially when we look at the price of this small piece of aluminum... - Crown & Tube -- Gen NOS 702 & 7020, never been replicated correctly... As Nanuq said, all hail the 702 - Movement -- Obviously Gen 1570... I will not feel good to cut the dial feet Was not working properly, before my watchmaker found a 1520 third wheel into it. I remember the seller who told me it works fine and keeps time very well... With the correct wheel, it now keeps the COSC time - Crystal -- Gen Superdome plexiglass... because why not Looks NOS, no cracks on it, and keeps the waterproofing OK. Perfect ! - Bracelet & End links -- Gen like new 93150 "M10" bracelet with NOS 585 end links - Date Wheel -- The better for the end ! Gen Silver DW in damn good conditions... The "30" was tricky, I have to admit it, because it's not perfectly centered. Witch is 100% normal :) I have to say some BIG thanks to torresp. You know why, and it was really, really, really appreciated I will not forget this ! (Now we can talk about a trade between my SD and yours ? No ? Really ? ) Hope you enjoyed the quick photos, I'll make some better ones later for the pleasure of eyes ! R.
  15. It's impossible to keep the rotor in a Daytona case anyways, it's too thin CC33 is right, removing the rotor is not the only thing to do have a "real" manual winding. As far as I know, only Spinmaster do the conversion properly to the A7760. I also think it's not safe to rewind an A7750 witch has not been converted... Don't bother with a build & buying pieces, just ask Spinmaster to build the Daytona of your dreams (if possible with gen crown, tube, and crystal), I think it's the easier & the best way, and he is a good guy to deal with. Thought, I don't know if he can supply the gen parts & some another pushers. And I agree about the Ferrari engine into a Ford... It does not makes any sense to go with the v72 road if you don't plan, at least later, to put a gen dial. And if you plan to put a gen dial, it makes no sense to use the DW case, witch is good, but not so good... Then, once you have a Phong case, v72, and Gen dial... it does not makes sense too to use aftermarket hands & bezel... Endless game ! (Too bad, the wallet is not endless...)
  16. You are damn close mate... Only one error ! And you forgot the bezel
  17. The (bad) experiences are talking About what Freddy is saying, you should avoid to buy pre-assembled Daytona's, these are most of the time over-valued, and movements always needs a good servicing. Plus I will not feel safe to send $3k or $4k to DW... Not worth the cost anyways, whether DW, Phong, or any other dealer If budget is a problem, you should buy the pieces separately. Sometimes you can make some good deals to lower the final bill... The key is the time. The more you are hurry, the more you will pay ! ~~ And if you are really hurry, forget about the v72 for now, and send a PM to Spinmaster about his builds... These are very good for the money, and you will avoid many (many, many) problems due to the v72 route...
  18. 100% right Find a good watchmaker is THE essential part for this kind of build. Spinmaster is known to be good. For my builds, these are too valuable so I cannot send the parts out of my country for obvious reasons of security. This is why I'm on my 2 projects for almost 2 years now. And I have all the parts in my box... Kinda frustrating !
  19. Hm... $2500... - Valjoux 72 => $1050 to $1350 to find one in good conditions these days I think. The "in good conditions" is an obligation, because a service cost a lot of money, not saying if you need to buy new parts to repair it. Don't buy movements alone, that's the rule. Don't buy a movement that do not keep the time (> 1min / day). Ask the seller to double-check all the functionalities. Post some photos of the movement here before to buy to check it's clean and it have the right holes to fit in a Daytona. Some movements do not have the holes and are a mess to put in a Daytona. Don't buy with a seller who tells you "he don't know" about something on it's movement. Etc. - DW case set => $400 - To me, you should avoid the DW hands as much as possible. I have broken MANY hands with normal use of the chrono, these are bullsh*t, no kidding. A Phong hand set can do the trick for a v72. => $125 From what I learn, I will avoid to use a v726 with aftermarket hands, cause of a very large central chrono seconds pinion, witch is a big problem for Daytona hands - I don't remember if the DW dial comes with the case set ? Anyways, you should try to select a dial with the less printings possible. Ask for photos. Some DW are good, some are just too bad to be used. The black dials are IMO better replicated, because the Silver color is a big problem to replicate correctly. Also, I found the white printings better than the black printings. - I think a gen 78350 bracelet is a must. These are cheap. You can find one for around $450 I think. DW 571 will do the job, these are very good with the DW case. - A gen T21 (crystal) is a must too, to me. Around $180 for a service one. You should buy a sealed Tropic, so many reps are sold as gen, especially on VRF - Considering your budget is restricted, I think a gen 703 crown and 7030 tube will do the trick. Around $260 for NOS. Far less for used one. You can also consider find a used 702 / 7020 or 700 / 7000. Never buy a 702 or a 700 crown without it's tube Tubes are very hard to find, especially alone. - You should think about Ofrei pushers ($50 ? I don't know). DW pushers are bullsh*t sometimes. - DW bezels are both very good for the price. I will prefer the metal bezel from him, the printings can be very good to excellent. The plastic black inserts have the awful "110", and looks too cheap IMO. I think I have not forgot anything. Make a total around around $2500 if I'm right... Good luck
  20. Your thoughts are very interesting guys It makes me thinks some parts are now very well replicated, and some others not because it was spotted as gen very quickly I think I will comment each part tomorrow, I have to admit some of these are pretty uncommon on a 1665 project...! -- I have a little question I'm asking myself - why do you guys thinks it's a Phong "case" ? It looks too good / unpolished to be the real deal ? Maybe crown guards ?
  21. That's the true problem. Once you started a vintage Daytona build, your budget will explode... Better to have a pre-determined budget before starting anything, trust me ! I have started with DW case, 7760 movement... and I've now finished with full-gen Daytona, Tritium original dials, hands, bezel, etc... Also, don't forget a vintage Daytona build is VERY hard to finish. If it's your first build, I strongly encourage you to begin with anything else... Or go with a ready-to-go build (Spinmaster ?)
  22. $4k for DW Daytona ? My opinion is you should at first time determine your whole budget, before starting anything. Don't forget a v72 is pretty pricey these days, I don't know if it makes any sense to put this kind of money on a movement if your budget is low After we know your budget, it will be easier to advise you
  23. Interesting answers :-) let's say I will answer tomorrow with the full specs to let everybody try
  24. I'll answer later... But what is "case" ? Middle case ? Bezel ? Back case ? HE valve ?
