  1. yeah i was thinking more on the lines of a redial... my 5517 redailed singer is just that mm too small for my 5517 case ... i think this tends to be an issue for non-mbw rollies
  2. i am really liking the thicknes/ thiness of the case ... what is the size spec on this ... will it be able to take gen parts ... esp dials/ bez inserts?
  3. the cornet on the dial is just off... would it be possible to get a period correct crown printed on the dial ?
  4. Total wrist time to now: 37 hours 30 mins I have had the watch for about three days now so I don
  5. wow that dail is hurting... wow that dail is hurting...

    Daytona

this is almost a txt book scam... 24 hours WINNER anybody? http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-DAYTONA_W0QQitem...1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. Hmmm.... the guess the issue is that i try to confine myself to 'must have' buys; the watches that i have wanted for quite some time that i haven't been able to pick up for one reason or the other. I have to say that i have admired the Navitimer from afar but it has never been 'a must have watch' when i start buying things on impulse is where it all goes down hill for me! I think i will try to behave myself and see if the Brietling reaches 'must have" status.... mean while pass the Wisatrin for those who are interested my must have list is this : 111h, rolex prince (tiger striped) c. 30's, Rolex Bubble back (steel w/ arabic dail and sub sec's c. 40's, rlx 5513 california dial .
  10. I normally just buy two watches a year ... thats right only two a year ... however, since i have joined here i have bought four watches.... three of which are reps ... ( and i have been here less then a year i believe) anyway no sooner then i bought my Daytona ... I am eyeing up a Breitling GMT Navitimer ... seems like a really good all-rounder... if i buy this it would be my fifth watch this year and i would have exceeded my rep budget ... and dare i say its a Breitling - everytime i buy a non- rolex i feel like i am cheating ... oh dear what to do... Am i being excessive ? Rags
  11. I know you have a tt sub how about a full gold sub black dial .... just like Tom Ford of Gucci fame sports ... if i didn't shell out for the daytona i would have gotten this one ... you can never have too many subs
  12. i am pretty happy that my wristcandy gets unnoticed more often then not - it just makes me feel uncomfortable talking about watches with non-enthusiasts - dont know why ... just the way i am i suppose ... My most commented watches have been my RD gold square, MBW 1680, and my 5517 ... the RD normally gets complimented by my friends random girls and men of questionable sexuality at bars and also by my dentist the rolexes unfortunately mostly get noticed on the tube ... thats kind of the last place i want my watches to get noticed and commented on audibly by strangers. My gens never get commented on ... the exception of a 1935 Visible & co rose gold watch which i 'handed down' to my mother last christmas ... go figure
  13. I was reminded of a post that was on the TURF a while ago regarding how one pronounces SUBMARINER Sub Maar In 'er vs. Sub- Mar - EEN- er i personally prounounce it like the former ... but model designations ... what do you guys say ? i say 1680 = Sixteen-Eighty i say 1665 = Sixteen- Sixty-Five 16520= Sixteen- Five - Two- Oh 116520= Eleven- Sixty-Five - Two- Oh silly post... yes i know... but i truely am interested
  14. Like Section 8 i don't volunteer information... but if am asked about it i tend to get a little sheepish and admit it ... When i was working back in New York i was photocopying and the most unexpected person - one of our senior senior account managers- spotted a newly acquired FM casablanca i was sporting ... ( we're a Fashion P.R./ advertising company- i guess it was bound to happen) - He looked at me and said ' Did you get a bonus or somthing' i wasn't quite sure what he was reffering to but then i noticed he was looking at my watch i automaticly told him that it was a 'copy' ... He was quite impressed with the quality of it and gave me kudos for taste ... ( this was a canal street rep btw)... but most of the time the only people that notice are my immediate family ... other times i just delude myself into thinking i own more gens then i do... until i put on a gen... then the game is up for me .
  15. @ rek001, sorry i missed your post ... i order a black dial 2001 model from Joshua. i have seen several daytonas (of other members here) that are from Joshua and they look pretty good. @ Itreeman i will post a brief 'review' of the watch when it arrives (i am sure it won't be any diffrent or any more extensive than those reviews of other 2001- modified 7750 daytonas that are already posted on the forum) - i have very -verrrrry- limited knowledge of this model / movement - so we're in the same boat. @Freddy33, Thanks for that post ... certainly makes me feel more reasured and confident about my purchase... ( Modding is certainly in the cards for this one eventually - lume and gen crown / tube for sure ... so many projects so little time and funds) I think i will won't 'ride' the daytona as hard as i do my others but i don't think i will baby it as much as i do my FA jones which goes right back in the watchbox as soon as come in through the door. Cheers, Rags
  16. Hi Ubi, Mate you just made my 48 hours... i was wondering about the evolution of this movement ... if you don't mind me asking where did the 116520 come from ? i read The Zigmeister's review on replica watch report (on the moded swiss 7750 - when this first came out . posted circa dec 2005 ) this one lacked the jeweled pivot on the the running seconds gear... and then ( i don't know why i couldn't find this one earlier i was certainly looking for it) The Zigmeister's review of a 'revised' modded asain 7750 which seemed to have marked improvement on the original swiss modified 7750 - even of the mod gear train-.... i think that was posted a little over a year ago Mar 2006...(hopefully this indictive of design devolpment in these movements over the year) I have noticed that alot of the new ( 06/07) rep 1165xxs with running secs at six are comming with a decorated 4130 style rotor i wonder if they have done other updates to the movm't other then the the rotor... it would be nice to think so- if anybodys knows feel free to chime in- ... if mine dies or malfuntions maybe i will 'donate it' for a The Zigmeister autopsy and see if there are anymore developements to the modded running seconds at 6 7750.... who knows maybe a couple years down the line they'll have this modification down and reliable --- then rolex will shift the seconds back to the nine position- now wouldn't that be a b*tch . @ Zed , are your daytona's 1165xxs and if so are they running seconds at six ? cheers Rags
  17. To be honest with yo,u i felt that if was ever going to get a rolex chrono it was going to be 6263 running 7750 or 6234 'anti-magnetic' pre-daytona running 7750 aswell. However as i mentioned previously those filty modern rollies have just got me drawn in at the moment (i hope its just a phase) plus i thought it was high time for another chrono so the 116520 was really my only option... it would be nice if a rep 16520 were more available (sec's at the 9) i might have gone for that instead ...
  18. yeah i read several of The Zigmeister's reviews of this movment.... even the break down of it which i found on replica watch report ... no jewel pivot on the running seconds' gear it is almost as if the R&D folks made this modification to be disposible. Which is a shame really... but i live in eternal hope. maybe with the new decorated rotors some of the other interal (non- aesthetic) problems have been addressed aswell - atleast to prolong its working life-( hope... oh who am i kdding ) ... I'll just wait and see if this turns into a paperwieght or not ... that being said ... im actually really looking foward to recieving it... just to see what all the noise is about- maybe i'll be one of the lucky ones . Rags
  19. so is this piece destined to be whiped with diaper, reside in my watch box only to be worn for very special occasions? c'mon give me just at least one happy sec's @ 6 owner b4 i develop serious buyers remorse ....
  20. Thanks TeeJay C'mon... there has to be some satisfied seconds at six owners about...
  21. Ok i've always wanted a daytona... never thought it would be a modern one... but i have to say i've been seeing a lot of modern sports rollies these days... i don't know maybe its because its warmer outside and like women they have become more noticiable and more attractive. anyway... i purchased it with movement service and waterproofing off joshua's site... i Know these watches have had a lot of bad press for their time-bomb rather than bomb-proof mov'ts... hit or miss i understand.. the issue is that i wear my watches... and i by wear i mean properly abuse them... esp my rollies... does anybody have any experience with wearing one of these as a daily beater or maybe not as a beater but as a daily wearer... or have i just invested in watchbox balast . any input would be appriecated :-) Rags
  22. Everytime those luminous dots come up on e-bay they get bought so swiftly probably by folks from here ... i know i am guilty of snatching them up twice... anyone ever notice how much packaging he sends them in ... hilarious
  23. Hank , have you seen this topic ? it is disscussion about Josh's GMT vs. the MBW ... hope this helps . http://www.rwg.cc/members/GMT-PC-vs-MBW-t25239.html
  24. That is a tough call! the major selling point for josh's for me is the adjustable gmt hand i think it has a nicer dial and crown ... what i like about the MBW's is that they have that really nice crystal... everything else on it isn't selling it for me ... but i would be sold on the crystal alone... i had a gun to my head and was forced to choose i would go for josh's.... no wait .... the MBW and then mod the hell out of it you've got to have that beveled crystal.... i guess it depends if you just want wear it out-of the-box or if you want to mod it .
  25. where does the 'other' GMT come from ?
