  1. Is the Seadweller that king is offering the out come of this "ultimate seadweller project"...
  2. there are these adheasive "mounting" dots that you can secure the dial on to the movment with ... i forgot the technical term for these ... can someone chime in if they know what i am talking about?
  3. Certainly my choice i love the Black Dial 116520 ... have an issue with the rep tho...
  4. i can't seem to find it on King's site ... i am i going blind ? edit: Found it .... shame there aren't any pics of it ...
  5. any word on this bad boy? All these promising pictures i am going mad with anticipation
  6. Hi beever, Welcome to the forum... i would suggest taking a deep breath and do some searching... you probably get a decent education weeding through the threads ... i have learned soo much here pertaining to watches over all in comparsion to the Gen forums i am a member of. the question of what is most accurate is really quite a subjective one ... this game it is really a matter of comprimise ... i think you will find that one Sub rep , for example, will have some great attributes and another will have others... the MBW v. Noobmarnier comes to mind ... niether are 100% accurate out of the box and both have their pluses and minuses ... if you are a real stickler for accuracy the only way to really accomplish this is to build one ... welcome again , Ragsy
  7. Yeah my 5517 used to be one my daily beaters... and to be honest i miss wearing it... i even went diving with it but the original crystal cracked on me so it wasn't too watertight afterwards ... that is when i decided to rip it apart and start doing stuff to it ... its times like these that i wish that the MBK folks made a 5517 just to have a better more affordable case ... but i remember when the CN 5517 came out and someone was hocking one on Ebay it got some New Turfers really wound up... ' look how accurate it is!' "That is why i never would buy of the Bay!" makes me chuckle ... seeing that it isn't that accurate out of the box ... still a great watch tho... imagine if they caught a whiff of an vintage MBW jaws would drop ...
  8. i'm really looking foward to Angnus ' SD ... hopefully it won't dissapoint... i would wait for that one too if you looking for a modern sub
  9. yeah i have seen them on the bay regularly ... it would be nice to find the tube/ crown set tho... or is there an after market tube i could use ??? i am not familiar with vintage crown set parts numbers ... Speaking of which, what case are you using for your 5517 project ? (you can p.m. me if that is better for you )
  10. in all honesty that watch is hurting ... look at the date mag ... i think any watch enthusiast would be able to clock that and what is that a maxi-dial ... the worst would be if that bad boy came with a submariner clasp (which is a common flaw on cheaper reps) ... i hope he didn't pay anything close to gen prices for that.
  11. thanks, what is on there at the moment is : -an aftermarket retaining ring/ bezel set up -more accurate aftermarket hands -a CWP/M.Y. insert - and gen Tropic 19 superdome ( i believe) - a redailed 5513/2 singer ( which isn't on the watch but was intended for it) and i also brushed the case ( but that was when i first got the watch) nothing erks me more than seeing a shiny military watch yeah i really want to do a dial swap but i don't think that is going happen with this case... the diameter of the rehaut is too wide to fit a 5513 singer i may just see what i can do with the exsisting dial .... i also need to replace the bezel set up that i have at the moment since the bezel itself isn't clicking in to the spring or rotating ... what i really want to find is a vintage crown/ tube but that is where i have hit obsticals... ( if anyone knows a source or has one PM me ) .... i am still waiting for my Royal Marine grey NATO G10 ... i used to have this on a zulu...
  12. I love the 5517 ... i would say that it is my grail watch aswell as the tigerstripe rolex prince. so ofcourse i own a rep of it ... and it has served me well as it is stock but a about a year ago i thought i would upgrade it a bit and i would source somthing for it muck about with it for a little bit and then forget about it ... then i would remember about it and source somemore stuff for it and then forget about all over again... well i have decided that would dedicate some time and money to finishing this puppy off hopefully b4 the end of 2008 ... anywho ... some pictures of it as it is now... Cheers, Ragsy
  13. tmg, i am glad to hear that you haven't given up on the 5517 ... i have one in the works too...
  14. I tend to have particular taste in watches i like them classic and timeless i will always tend to lean towards somthing more '40's and dressy / military than the modern stuff ( completely excluding 70's dive watches which i adore) but once and i while a 'modern' watch will come and just lure me in... A Phillipe Stark watch did that to me ... as well as one of the first sieko kinetics.... ( i find my self drawn to them for no real reason except that i think they are cool)... in an odd way i bought my Daytona on a similar whim... But i am really concerned with what i am being drawn to now... and it was a Cellini ad on NYC pay phone that lured me in... before i mention the brand/ type of watch it is i would like to say what i originially thought of them....normally i tend to be indifferent about watch design... i f i don't fancy it its ok i don't have look at it ... but with this one i plain disliked them... they looked to toyish, tacky and well just unrefined... well its just my opinon ... i never really understood why ppl liked them soo much ... why they had such a following in both gen and rep circles ... until now ... one look at the cereamic bezel and the rose gold case on this poster and i was hooked ... i felt like i needed to get one... thinking to myself...' go on diversify your collection' yes that is right i want a HBB ... but in an odd way a part of me really really doesn't ... has this ever happened ot you before?
  15. hi all, i was wondering what the average price for a full (93150 clasp, 580 endlinks ) 78360 bracelet is these days. i remember when they where around $600 . $800+ is what i am seeing now - and it seems steep- . does anyone know ? cheers, ragsy
  16. yes freddy but ... does it work on your wrist??? my 116520 works when i wind it but then it dies when its on my wrist ... oh well it makes a nice desk clock.
  17. Are your reffering to XRT's sub ?? i believe that crown was fabricated from the existing rep crown and mold of an original brevet rolex crown and then an alloy was poured over the repcrown in to the mold so that the existing tube could be used. i too was wondering if Davidsen's brevet crowns and tubes could be successfully installed to sub cases ...
  18. No this bracelet came off a 1680 i bought off Ioffer a couple years back. its a hollow mid link its more accurate overall than the MBW bracelet. i believe i do have an extra MBW Fliplock bracelet back in london if you want it ( but you're gonna have to wait a month a bit for when i get back there) PM if you're interested.
  19. Palp did a lot of the work on this watch but i recently sent it in to The Zigmeister to fix/ replace the tube ( which i believe had stripped its threads) and also to clean up the lug holes had Palp had drilled out for me before... he also replaced a pinched gasket from the case back and regulated the movment... the turn around was swifter than i thought and the watch arrived in NYC b4 i did ... we're really fortunate to have The Zigmeister here offering his services and expertise he is incredibly great to deal with ... Thanks again The Zigmeister!
  20. I personally think that mbw inserts aren't that great... it would be one of the first things i would replace.... i would get a classic watch parts insert (which imho has a better pearl than the MBW ) and is also a very accurate ... but would replace the pearl on that with a gen if you can source them ... there is guy on a e-bay that sells them from time to time...
  21. I personally don't think it matters what one's ethinc background is ... I, for one, am mixed race (Afro-Cuban/ Filipino) and i know a lot of black people that are into their reps .... But i reckon that we have a fairly diverse international comunity here...
  22. Hi Freddy... the one to the left looks pretty t-19ish but what is the one to the right... did rolex produce a tropic like this ? is it a t-19 variant ?
