  1. gosh that is one place i didn't look for my lost daytona...
  2. one bottle of Cava and this is my opinion ('stoy un poco borachio) : the sd i suppose will always be the king of the "subs" seeing as it has the higher tolerences and quite a cool history ... but for me personally... the 1680 has always been my favorite "submariner" white or red especially with the super thick acrylic tropic ... which is is so distinctly unique even from afar... I know that with gen owners ( inparticular with non- acrylic crystal sports models gmts, subs and even though they aren't sport or tool like djs ) a lot of them go out of thier way to remove the cyclops on thier date models then again... i find the cyclops v. unique to rolexes ... which i guess makes thier design a bit special to me ... any way just my two pence... i would go for the 1680...

Hi Laz, the latter suggestion is certainly not out of order ... i too, thought that it was knicked ... my girlfriend said i was being silly... the issue that i have is that my flat is really really quite small... its a studio... seriously there is a japanese screen that seperates the 'bathroom and toilet ' from the rest of the flat ... and i a have been through it all except for behind the book shelves- ... yes i even checked the oven and the washing machine

Ok i am not the biggest fan of modern rolexes ... and in the same respect i wasn't to keen on the 116520 rep that i had ... but i have to admit it was growing on me... in such a way that i didn't realise how much i would miss it... a couple days ago i took it off b4 jumping into the shower ... my flat, regardless of how small it is , contains some form of the burmuda triangle ... seriously we inexplicably lose things in this tiny studio flat all the time...my 116520 is its latest victim and its first watch ... and i have to say i have turned this place upside down... not a trace of it ... all that is left is its bezel protector ... sob ... being the superstitious Catholic that i am i have been beseeching St. Anthony to give me guidence ... no luck as of yet ... anyway ... end of pity party... now if i was Mislaid daytona where would i be ????
  6. the latter watch you posted ( on the far right ) is 16520 which was in production from '98- '00 i belive (seconds running on the 9) which is the predecesor to the 116520 (seconds running at the six) which was in production from 2000- although subtle ( i supose) there a lot of diffrences between these two models ...
  7. i love the 5513... it looks nice and minty!
  8. i don't think she owns any....
  9. i met her and her sister at a party i had the misfortune of attending 4 years back or so in New York... they weren't the most pleasant of people... very superficial and overtly judgemental... ... scarily enough Paris is a role model to a lot of young girls ( wether or not that is a good thing is another issue entirely)... on the other hand i don't find any pleasure in her 'crying' ... she is just a very sad sad person... ill equipped to deal with reality ... and that is really just a shame see people like that ...
  10. Sash, its great that you have your site up (again?) ... i really like the Ticker on the front page and the glossary v. informative... it just seems a little bare ... i can't put my finger on it but it doesn't look like it is making the most of of the space.... just my two pence ... R
  11. i could just be but the etched crowns are wayyyy to visible on those photos .... considering one of them is supposedly genuine its really difficult to even see the etching at six (on gens) with the naked eye nevermind with a camera...
  12. Yeah i really should have worded that differently... 1570 is nice but it isn't as if they are unobtainable ... i was also under the impression that MBW 1665 case could take the 1570 without modification... am i wrong ?
  13. looking at it really doesn't look like anything special... save for the gen movment (and even those come a dime a dozen)... i take issue with the dial as well... which looks to me like a M.Y. singer redial with a re-lume vintignizing job... which can be dear but aren't exactly that impressive...at first sight it looks really cheap .... not worth the 2k+ in my humble oppinion... Any of the Modded MBWs/WMs here surpass that thing on the bay any day....
  14. i spy a C.W.P / M.Y. dial.... can anyone I.D. the case i don't think it is MBW ?
  15. Has my watch made a miraculous recovery ? Total wrist time to date : 25 days ( give or take ) Accuracy: who knows anymore. As seen on my last post my 116520 decided to stop on me one morning ... yet the second hands were still ticking... i decided i would still wear it since i didn't know if it was the watch that was faulty or if i reset the time when i was out drinking the night previous... unfortunately it was the watch that was acting funky. i found that every 15 mins or so it would stop...at times for a couple of minutes and then it would start again as far as i was concerned i felt that this watch was probably about to sing its swan song (which is really quite annoying ) ... so i got intouch with the dealer/ collector (or whatever we're calling them these days) told him what was going on with the watch ... he told to wind the watch manually 30-40 times and get back to him with how long it ran for ( off the wrist) . I was certain that it was going to stop in 15 minutes time after i wound it ... but surprizingly it was going strong for about 26 and half hours ... not bad considering that this movment has 32 hour power reserve ( or is supposed to ) ... what this all means i am not sure ... but i am waiting for the dealer / collector to get back to me .... I'll post more when i know more. Ragsy.
  16. reps got me into collecting ... when i was about 13 or so... reps (cheap reps) was all i could afford ... nothing too flashy ... S.S. datejusts mainly that had shelf life of about 6 months ( these were $35 jobbies) and i would always get upset when they would die on me ... then i found a dealer when i was 16 that had decent quality stuff ($80+ ) proper stainless steel and better asian movm't ... and all of them save for a day-date that bought are still running... i got my first 'prestige' mark or swiss gen when i was 18 it was a quartz Cartier Santos ... when i was 20 i grabbed a Gen GMT II (black insert) and a c. 50's DJ when i was 21 i was given a white gold Gen MOP DJ from my mum... but i have always been into the vintage stuff in particular 20-40's wrist watches... of which i have a bucket full... but they come and go i am starting to learn that i don't necessarly have to own a watch to really appricate them ... i also have a thing for 70's dive watches but don't have too many gen versions of those... i think that reps ( the ones that are available to use via here) is that they are pretty affordable in comparison to their Gen counterparts... and are pretty convincing ... so the art of reproduction of particular watches is what really intrests me with reps... gen: rep ratio ? i woud have to say 60/40
  17. no its all good ... Omega it is !!!!
  18. i see that the Omega overwhelmingly has it ... ... thanks guys ! i was going to wear the RD ... its my GF's first choice ... but hey she dosn't dictate my life <looks over shoulder to make sure she isn't around > i personally love the omega ... the Jones will have to wait its turn i suppose ... Thanks again !
  19. Hi everybody, Tonight I have a black-tie event to attend at one of Kensington's most exclusive private clubs ... i have got my DJ (tux) back from the dry cleaners ... but what watch should i wear ... i thought i would throw caution to the wind and ask you guys and gals to make that desicion for me ! here are the choices : cheers, Ragsy
  20. Total wrist time to date: 15 days 13 hours 5 mins Accuracy: +/- 7 seconds a day Ok ... i went out lastnight and got incredibly trollied... i woke up this afternoon and looked at my watch and was astonished since it read 7:35 i must have gotten home at around ohh say 5 ish i turned to my to my girlfriend and said ...'Damn! its only 7:35 it feels a lot later then that ...' to which she replied, 'its a quarter to 1 ... now shut up my head is killing me!' but this is the issue ... the watch wasn't dead it was still ticking ... is it the watches fault or did i somewhere in the course of the night reset the time?.... i really can't remember in the same respect i also don't remember being over flirtatious with my girlfriend's russain friend but i apparently i was ... i am going to reset it and keep an eye on it for the next couple days or so and be really nice to my missus ... i'll keep you all posted in a couple days or so ... in the meantime a very hungover picture ... the omega has the correct time (running +/- 2 seconds a day the omega 30t2 cal is a super dependable movment ) Ragsy

  24. that is great news ... i personally i have been diving with my rep 5517 as well as well with my gen datejust ... honestly ... if the gaskets are in the right places and there are no leaks their good to go! people often underestimate the rolex oyster -you should have seen the looks when i was sporting my datejust ... then again that was gen
