Thx Laz!! Am not that sure that he will be thrilled, died about 8 months ago, but he always said that he was a simple guy, solid but simple. Hence the Submariner with no date. Solid and simple. PM me regarding purchase of a gen online, might be able to help. You can share that info with the rest of the board if it helps. Grtz

My wife recently inherited some money from her grandfather, it was almost enough to buy a used submariner. Grandpa used to work on a submarine, we thought it would be a good idea to honor him this way. Just closed the deal, 2400 Euro. Sorry for the lousy pics, don't have the watch yet. Was it a good deal? (very trustworthy seller, all papers, recently checked by biggest jeweler chain in the country. no service required)

Experts: 90's 16570 (explorer II) what do you think?

OKi cool. i will not send it to Rolex for service without extra precautions, nor will i swap the dial and hands for luminova parts! Am very happy with the deal. Always a bit strange to take risks on so much money, but the risks payed out 2 times. BTW: I have bad eyesight and love my 2002 GMT II with luminova in bed at night. -

Buy the GMT II, done the same thing, buy it second hand from a trustworthy source. give yourself 6 months to find, have patience. GMT II will not loose value if you buy it used at a min30% dicount of the new price. Or buy an explorer II black dial, almost the same look but cheaper to source. Have fun hunting!

thx by -thor, coming from you that is a good sign. bought it without papers, well only copies, from a trustworthy source. Who had a receipt from his purchase, but not an AD . took the risk for around 1800 Euro. 1993, non AD service 1 year ago. bezel looks misaligned but that should be an easy fix. hoping for no more flaws... -
