  1. August 18, 1979 Cal-Expo Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Pat Travers Band, and Shakin' Street.

The first of many times to see BOC and Pat Travers (still one of my favorites today).

I'm completely jealous. The one band that I never got to see that I wish like hell I could turn the clock back for.

Seen the Who, the Stones, Metallica (several times), Van Halen, Van Hagar...but never Zepp.

  2. I second Elvis above!!! You're going to get a lot of PMs from people asking where this guy is. You should ask if it's alright to pass on his name by private messages (not posted on the forum) to people looking at having rep repairs. I'm sure he'll be glad for the business.

Well thank you...thank you very much (he says in his best Memphis twang).

BTW, when I saw this picture, I just had to make it my avitar...I especially like the way that Elvis has the brightest halo and the way Jesus is looking upon him with apparent reverence!!! I love it!!

  3. Definitely the "Right Stuff".

I read a quote from Sully right after it happened that said something like - we were all calm on the outside but nervous on the inside (I'm paraphrasing so I apologize if I don't have that quite right).

I think that's what it's all about, to have the composure to keep it together when human nature wants to take over and cause panic.

    A great man indeed!!

  4. Here's the update - I took the watch to a local watch maker and explained to him the problem and that the repair was to glue the underside of the hand to the tube. He said "No problem"

Two days later I came back and the hand was now looser then when I took it to him (he told me it was "Something inside and there was nothing wrong with the second hand") Clearly this guy didn't have a clue as to what he was doing...

After a little more asking around I found a second watch maker in the area and took it to him. I explained what seemed to be the reason for the loose second hand and he said "I can definitely fix it"

I came back two days later and voil

  5. I've recently read on rwg a member reporting his new a7750 based watch flipped over on 12. Can't remember his name or topic tho.

That may have been me slick. I posted that I received a skyland v3 that flips right at 12:00. The minute totalizer starts to move at about 2-3 seconds before 12 and "snaps" to the next minute right at 12:00. I am sure it is the 28.8k movement.

I would like to send it to The Zigmeister for servicing, but I'm afraid that a cleaning will fix this "flaw" and it will advance a couple seconds before 12:00 like all my other a7750s. :D

  6. +1

I agree but can see everyone's point of view. There is no mileage to be gained by beating each other up and taking sides.

Dr T has made his point and I think that his frustration has spilt over, making him a little too defensive. I think that we should also recognise that perhaps English is not his first language, so his comments may not appear to be as articulate or as eloquent as a native speaker.

It would be a shame to lose a contributing member, when perhaps the intention was not to damage or disparage, but to raise awareness so as to warn other members.

Tom's communications are a nightmare, and I know that he will be the first to agree to that, but I have benefitted from his work personally, I can say without hesitation that when you do get your watch(es) you will be very satisfied if not jumping with joy at the quality.

I hope that things can be worked out between everyone, but perhaps behind the scenes and not via this thread or another. A couple of concilliatory PM's would repair any bridges that have been damaged.

I hope that common sense prevails.

While I agree for the most part with chiefw, I think the one thing we are missing here, and the thing that raised the most issues with the mods, was the apparent willingness to use Paypal dispute WAAYYYY prematurely. Especially since Dr.Tub was just burned with a Paypal dispute himself!!

It would seem that many people are jumping quickly to use Paypal disputes to resolve issues before other methods may have been exhausted.

    That's what's really concerning!!!

  7. Yeah, this is good Mike. I am needin' to add some new play lists to my iPod as well.

Is the mission here Motown or pan genre? As it seemed to be Motown from your first post....................Also sample "Vehicle" from 'Ides of March' from the iTunes store, that track walks..............great horns, that got me into an older 'Chicago' mode, "25 or 6 to 4", and that just took me to Blood Sweat and Tears....................you know, it snow balls............ I ended up with 'Limp Bizkit' "Gimme Somethin' to Break".

I grew up with AM radio 77WABC Cousin Brucie (Bruce Morrow) out of New York. My tastes are wack because of it. 'Led Zeppelin' "Whole Lotta Love" followed by 'Cher' "Half Breed", 'Vicky Lawrence' "Delta Dawn", 'Beatles' "Hey Jude", 'Sinatra' "New York, New York", 'Glen Campbell' "The Witchita Lineman" and 'T-Rex' "Bang a Gong" all on the same station within the same half hour. That's what my iPod looks like.

Actually Demsey, the original mission was to gather songs about Bad Muthas Like Shaft, but it has sort of evolved into more.

BTW - Nice diversity in your music choices. ;)

  8. I need a little help here. I'm compiling a playlist called "Bad Mutha songs" for my iPod.

    So far I have:

Theme from "Shaft" - Isaac Hayes

    Super Bad, Pts 1 & 2 - James Brown

    Superfly - Curtis Mayfield

Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine - James Brown

The Rubberband Man - The Spinners (Not sure this one belongs)

Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas

Any others you all can think of?

  9. I have a watch (Montblanc timewalker chrono) with a modified 7750 movement (seconds @ 9, minute totalizer @ 3, hour totalizer @ 6) which has about a half minute of play in the big minute hand (not the chrono @ 3 hand). Is this normal?

    Can it be fixed?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  10. Uh...the date is probably set to last time it was worn or set to something I like the look of in a pic and time can be reset sometimes to keep hand out of the way of certain dial areas for photos if I happen to be shooting them as well. I also don't believe in auto winders. They ruin all the fun of manually setting your watch when you decide what to wear in the morning - and then again in the afternoon...

Yeah...I know...I was just kiddin'. It IS a nice pic!

  11. I understand you weren't bad mouthing The Zigmeister, bad mouthing J probably isn't any better in The Zigmeister's eyes.

I know if anyone bad mouthed my wife, I would definitely defend her and not be at all happy with that individual.

I realize you may not have meant harm, but as has already been mentioned, The Zigmeister just posted about excessive emails he has been getting, so your timing couldn't be worse.

Jen has been nothing but pleasant to me when I email her and Zig with questions, I just try to keep it to a minimum and to the point.

    Regards,

    Mike

  12. I love my Sony MDR-EX90LP. I paid $100 for mine a couple of years ago. I recently lost one of the silicon earpieces so I went on the bay to find a replacement set that would fit these phones. I found these earbuds are now available anywhere from $20 - $80. So, rather than buying more silicon pieces, I just ordered a new pair of EX90LPs. $22 shipped. I can't wait to get them to see if they are still the same audio quality.

I have tried offerings from V-Moda and Bose and neither could match the Sony's mid and high end clarity and crispness. About the only thing that wasn't quite as good on the Sony's is the thumping of the base. Although the lows are not as thumping, I still think the lower frequencies are cleaner and crisper than the they are on the others...and still pretty thumping, just not as much as the V-Moda or Bose.

    Frequency response: 5 - 25000 Hz

It might be worth a shot for the price.
