  1. You guys watch the swimming and look at Michael Phelps?

    me.. I watch Stephanie Rice!!

Guess I'm just a big homo then, cuz I also watch Football on Sunday and Hockey in the winter.

BTW - Sorry to disagree, but I don't think Stephanie Rice is all that hot. :D

  2. The PO (UPO for us) is like the Borg. Resistance is futile. Just wait till you get sucked into modding it with gen parts. I'm adding a gen DW to mines. Only the case and movement will be rep parts after this.

Which is exactly why I haven't bought one yet. I know if I do, it's going to end up being a money pit. :D

I joined here a few years ago just looking to find a nice submariner. I was happy with it for about a year, but now I'm buying and modding...

    I got a fever...and the only cure?...more watches...

  3. Its funny you say that... I was JUST looking at his page on the Omega site. The Omega Apnea is a really interesting watch. I think that the Planet Oceans are slightly over exposed. Look through the watches of the ambassadors... especially George Clooney. They give Planet Oceans away like MnM's.

I need to go check out an Apnea, I want to see exactly how they work.

Tomorrow I will be wearing my red/white/black/blue dialed Speedy!

CBR, As you were typing this, I was typing my reply about buying a UPO :D

  4. Hey...me too.

I was watching last night and they showed his coach who was wearing a 45.5 black PO on leather. I immediately went to my favorite collector and started looking for this watch. I've almost bought the UPO several times, but have been able to resist...so far.

    I'm gettin' close!! :D

  5. Got my hands on a V 1:1 CG from member porche356a (thanks man) and just got it installed on my 111h project watch.

You may have noticed the bony croc strap. It's from panatime. Here's a better shot of the strap.

Next up... DSN sapphire crystal currently out with chief for double AR. Haven't decided if it will stay double or if I'll strip the outer layer.

and in November it goes to The Zigmeister for lume and canon pinion fix.

Oh, and also a t crown when they are available.

    Thanks for looking.

  6. Once again guys: Regarding watch photos... camere means about 5% (MAX). 85% is about lighting and 5-10% is about the post-processing skill.

When you do photo compositions and use layers, for example, the post-processing skill plays a bigger role of course. I have shot watch pics with very expensive, top class cameras and with just standard Canon Powershot. There was virtually ZERO difference between the quality of my shots, providing the light was sufficient and properly spread around the lightbox.

It doesn't matter how good camera you buy, if you're not willing to practice and figure out the lighting. Just like buying an expensive Adidas soccer ball won't make you Diego Maradona (and automatically give you his drug and weight problems). :D

    Don't get me wrong, I agree 100%.

When I was talking about investing in equipment, I was talking about a light box. The comment about buying a cheaper camera was an attempt at a little self deprecating humor.

I understand photography pretty well and I know whats lacking in my watch shots. I just haven't had the time to work on a solution.

P.S. While it's not my main source of income, I have a side gig shooting the Colorado Rapids MLS team for an on-line soccer magazine. Totally different type of photography.

  7. That's a nice SSD man. I really mean it. Much better than the one that was posted to TZ.

The moron who posted the pics should first learn to some mods.

...and of course choose the correct angle and lighting for his photo.

    Sorry man... couldn't resist. :tu:

Thanks for the complement (I think ;) ).

I've already resigned myself to the fact that I will never be able to take the quality of shots that the masters on this site post (and you are right up at the top of the list), but I'm actually quite the photography buff. I do mostly sports and landscapes, but one of these days, I'll have to invest in the gear to shoot watches.

I'm still trying to recover form the sports lens I bought last year!!

  8. Got them from http://www.fdjtool.com/category.aspx?categoryID=948

    Thanks for the link Heywood.

These things are AWESOME!! Can't believe how crappy my ebay specials feel now.

$89.95 for the set in a wooden box (box differs from the fdjtool picture slightly, but is the same as in stilty's review.)

Shipping was fast too. Got 'em in less than a week using the cheapest ground transportation from FLA to CO.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

  9. Pretty cool, but the watch on the link is still missing another new feature...The roller CG lever.

Notice on Rolli's pix the end of the lever where it contacts the crown? I would love to see that on a rep probably more so than the quick release strap, but that would mean they would have to get the crown/CG mounting correct at the factory. I have never had a PAM rep that didn't need some massaging to get it right.

I'd really like to see both new features before I'd buy.
