  1. The DW font in this carrera is crap. Looks like Times New Roman... Compare with this one: http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?pro...cture_id=164040

I agree it's crap, but so is the one you link to. It's still not at all like the gen. If that's the only difference, why pay an extra $70 for something that's still incorrect? At least I hope that's the only differance.. Do you know otherwise?

Besides, I have an ETA 7750 date wheel that I bought months ago to swap into an SMP chrono. If this watch turns out as I hope, I will swap into this one instead.

  2. I have been concentrating on PAMs lately and was on silix's site checking things out when I came across this:

    http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1755

I was eyeing this watch several months ago, but like I said above, been doing the PAM thing, and since I seem to be unable to focus on more than one thing at a time, I kind of lost interest. That is until I saw the price of this from silix.

Hope it turns out nice...I'll let you all know.

  3. Hey Athan,

    Nice watch!!

I bought the cheap Trusty Time version of this watch and have begun modding. My crown was the same as yours, but I was able to correct the issue by removing the crown and stem from the movement, unscrewing the crown from the stem, filing the stem a little (do this slowly and check the fit several times, you don't want to make it too short) and replacing the crown to stem and reinstalling it into the watch. It's really a pretty simple mod.

A couple of pix in this post:

In the text on the above link, I said I retained the flat gasket. I have since replaced it with the other, more donut shaped gasket. Mine passed the kitchen sink test. I'm working up the nerve to try it out in the pool. :snorkel:

The swan neck should be an easy fix. You should be able to just move it into position.

If you figure out a way to clean up the blue paint, please let me know. I have the same issue.

I ordered a sapphire crystal from DSN without AR. I'll one of our AR experts do a single side job for me.

As soon as I can get an appointment with watchsmith, I'll get the cannon pinion fixed and super lume done.

I'm still hoping V will come through with one of those awesome CG's (please...please...please  )

    Good luck,

    Mike

  4. I said in the opening post that I am an ABBA fan, I don't have a problem admitting that I also like Air Supply (not sure about the gay comment as I don't connect sexually with bands) and the original Seekers, however I also have a big thing for Piotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky and then almost everything in between....Billy Joel is another favourite....this was never meant to be a who is the best discussion.....I just wanted to know about a stage play and a movie...that has grossed over 2 Billion dollars worldwide thus far.

    Ken

    Hey Ken,

The gay comments were from me. In my part of the world, gay is sometimes used as slang for whimpy, or lame, or weak. I realize this is not really politically correct, but it was just an attempt as light hearted humor.... LOL as I type this i am seeing a commercial on the TV for Mamma Mia the movie...I certainly wasn't intending to offend or insult anyone.

But what would you expect from someone who listened to AC/DC, UFO, RUSH, Pat Travers Band, Led Zeppelin, The Scorpions...stuff like that during the 70's / early 80's. :punk:

In the words of Joe Dirt, "I'm a ROCKER, through and through".

OK, now you can make fun of me for being able to quote from the movie Joe Dirt!! :D

  5. Sorry guys, but there are only 2 reasons why ABBA is not the gayest band of all time:

    1. Village People

    2. Air Supply

Yes, they're even gayer than the BEE GEES!!

EDIT - Damn...I forgot about WHAM and Culture Club...OK ABBA is the 5th gayest band ever!! :D

  6. My #1 favorite beer is this:

    wailua-wheat-ale.jpg

Wailua Wheat form the Kona Brewing Co.. It's brewed with passion fruit. But, by llsteves definition, it can no longer be considered since I can now buy it in Colorado. Up until about a year ago, it could only be had at the Kona brewery on the big island...

...So, to stay within the guidelines layed out llsteve on what a micro brew is, this would be my pick:

    tommy-knocker-jack-whacker.jpg

Brewed at the Tommy Knocker brewery in the little mountain town of Idaho Springs, Colorado. They also have a nice seasonal chilli beer that goes great with a bowl of chilli (a winter favorite of mine.)

  7. I actually got 3.... run the auction tonight and I'll send you one of them...before you crash.. just put the names in a hat and pick one :D

How can I pass up a deal like that?

OK. About 2, maybe 2 1/2 hours from now, I'll post a message on this thread that registration is closed and draw a name from those replying in this thread.

    Good luck to all!!

    Mike

  8. I think the debate ends here !

The no.1 crack special forces team is.....

    A-Team_logo.jpg

Ten years ago / In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.

I pity da fool who disagrees!! B.A. Barakus will rip your F'in head off!! (Super groovy van too!!)

  9. No apologies required, sir. I haven't been offering the service, and it was only last week when I was able to confirm the quality of the coating from a new vendor. This case was done in DLC, using the PVD process (which is a bit less expensive than the PACVD process described in the other thread).

The case in the picture above was done for chinkiechunkie's project.

I am waiting for another Hamilton case, which I sent out for PACVD coating from another vendor...pictures will follow.

can't wait to see the results. I'm very interested!!
