Super Avenger and Evolution bezels questions
rogerthat replied to Defender110's topic in The Breitling Area
Jiro has, he posts occasionally here but is a mod on repgeek I believe. At least for the BCE. -
Discovery110 or is it Defender110 has gen bezels and gen dials for sale often, not positive if he does right now, send him a PM. I guess I got lucky with this Lello wheel, this was an earlier batch.

That was my initial disassembly mess up. The damage seems much worse in these macro photos than in person with the watch in hand. I may need to readjust the screw heads though becuase I think symettrically they should all lineup? This watch is a bear to take apart,unfortunately...
-
I would use with care and not service until which ever comes first a.) you have a problem with the movement (losing time, stopping,etc..) b.) you reach the 4 year mark Once serviced repeat instructions above.
-
Yes, black thames will have C1 lume, white thames C3 lume. Many other dials though are just painted. Even the gens, agen safari has no lume.
-
Basically gen now... gen dial gen bezel chief crystal The Zigmeister lumed hands lello datewheel swiss eta movement engraved rotor gen croc strap and gen bracelet Please don't add it all up, I don't want to know how much it would total...

My non-phantom lume AP for today
-
My baby has had so many mods I am embarrassed.... could have bought a gen...maybe not For example: started out with double AR factory, modded by Jacob, then again modded to Chief's current AR. Just got her back after the final round of mods. Gen bracelet ready to be installed, I will take some new pics once I make the switch this weekend. Adding 2 other Lings in my collection, just becuase I feel like it!
-
Just picked up a gen safari brown hornback croc strap as well, but you will have to wait for those pics. This thing glows brighter than a relumed PAM, The Zigmeister did an unbelievable job on this one! True C3 color, looks more green in person when not charged than it does in these photos.

Looks great, strap looks awesome and the pictures really capture the depth of the dial very well!!! Cheers

Some great watches there, thanks for sharing. You So Cal members dominate the rest of us when it comes to GTG events. Would love something similar in the Boston area. -
Concerns about magnification and other.. AP ROO sec12
rogerthat replied to Alexcharm's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
The date is magnified on your rep. Does it look exactly the same as the gen, no ; none of our reps do. But it looks very, very close and to answer your question, you will notice that the date is magnified on the rep. The movement should be reliable, but it is a more complicated movement so you are taken a little more risk than on a seconds at 9, 7750 movement. A non-chrono ETA movement would be the safest movement. It is believed to be a well built movement so it should last, but it is brand new so all experiences with it are based on limited time. Keep that in mind. The website you are looking at will have the best quality available. -
2 things to consider here: Major 1 is that the lume even on the gen is not going to glow from across the room, the lume dots are very small so they are not going to be very bright or obvious. The rep is like most Breitling reps, the lume is poor but it is in the proper color, some Breitling reps are lumed in a wrong shade on the hands and/or dial. Based on how much it would glow or the color I would not pay the money to relume it. 2nd Factor to consider is the lume dots are not perfectly applied on the dial. This is the main reason that I or most members would pay $100 - $150 to get this watch relumed. This is more the point the relume would fix the allignment of the dots, which is OK compared to some other rep watches but sloppy compared to the gen. Don't think you are paying this money so your Black Steel will glow like an Xmas tree it is not meant to do that you would be paying to make the watch more accurate and gen like.

Happens often when he is booked for awhile out. I just chatted with him a couple of days ago. Nothing you can do but wait until his PM is open again.

Lousy is definitely an exaggeration. The Bentley GT is not the best but far from the worst and I am only comparing reps from our top end dealers not the crap that is sold on Canal Street, those are lousy reps. There are 2 versions of this watch: GT: came out in beginning of 2006 (polished everywhere, back has wings logo engraved) GT Racing: came out in beginning of 2007 (mixture of burhsed and polished, back has a car engraved) The second version has a much better engravings and as mentioned has single sided factory AR. Both are technically corect becuase the gen comes in both varieties as well. The GT bezel, case, etc.. is done as well as any rep known to this forum. Standards have changed in 2 years as stated. A 2007 great rep is not a great rep in 2009 I agree with that. However I still think this is a good rep not a lousy one. Out of the Bentley line only the Flying B and 6.75 are better reps out of the box than the GT and those both have flaws visible as well. They have never gotten the Bentley font right so all Bentleys are going to have date font issues. There are better Breitling reps namely the SFSO, Skyland, BCE, etc... but there are also worse Breitling reps out there. The inner bezel is not great, the date font sucks, and the lack of double AR can and should be fixed other than that this is a great rep. All reps have flaws, this watch is no different. Had they made this in 2009 they would have likely fixed the date font and improved upon the AR. The best factory AR though sucks compared to Chief's. They probably would have a slightly better bracelet, but barely noticable. The case and bezel would be no different, ther eis nothing wrong with them as is. Maybe a 3rd version of the watch will come out but I highly doubt it the rep factories would rather make a new Breitling model they have yet to make rather than redo one from a few years back. If you like the watch go for it, don't worry about every inaccuracy, AND don't but a 49 MM watch if it is too big for you just becuase it is a more accurate rep. I think the white dial is the best choice as it does not call attention to the inner bezel problem and if you are too cheap to double AR the watch the lack thereof is less noticable on the white dial.

What do you think of my "Stealth" custom PAM 212?
rogerthat replied to RWG Technical's topic in The Panerai Area
Great job Brodie, I love the last version you posted! -
It is really strange, I notice the exact same thing. I am usually a brut but have never broken anything on my watches. My wife has had a busted crystal, a broken clasp and chipped one of her watches. I really can't understand it. She had a few rep bags but always broke something on them, that turned into her having to buy only gen bags which is costly, so this may all be part of their ploy. My wife is not too into watches but does love the J12 as evidenced by my pics. If I see a good ladies rep I will order it when I order a watch, but she does not look at the forums or the watch pictures, though she did bookmark Joshua's site to check it out on occasion. Bags are more her thing. The Omega is definitely my favorite and my / her first rep. Was a daily wear. This is the watch that started me in the rep hobby, somehow I luckly found Josh's site when searching with her after receving one of those spam emails, decided to take the risk and placed an order long before I ever found these forums. Showed up and it was a fantastic rep and that is how it started for me. The Omega is an ETA movement and had an issue after about a year of wear, so it went off to The Zigmeister and got a servicing and relume of the hands so it may be one of the only Ladies MODDED reps on this forum. As usually the case, it came back better than ever from The Zigmeister ; there was dust on the dial originally and he of course cleaned that up. I highly recommend this model, it is a Aqua Terra Ladies model with MOP dial and diamond markers. There was no lume at all before, now the hands are lumed. This is a great quality Ladies rep that I have never seen on the forum. I should probably take a close up of just this watch. She loved the Rolex datejust for awhile but now thinks it is too small, so that really never gets worn. This one has a MOP dial and is from Ruby back when she allowed you to order the datejust in any combo you want, not sure if she does that anymore. Nice rep but the lug gap is noticable on the bracelet, I may need to source some tiny better quality springbares, becuase it bothers me more than her. This is the ladies size and as shown in the picture is quite small. Now it is hard to get a J12 off of her wrist. She likes the big White GMT, and wears the smaller Black depending on outfit. I got her the Black GMT just 2 weeks or so ago but she has not warmed up to the larger size in Black. The bezel numbers are done a different technique on the white vs. black. The white is bettter and easier passes as a gen for this reason. I have compared many dealer pics and they are all the same in terms of the bezels, the black are etched and colorfilled, which can look a little sloppy compared to the gen bezel. The white, at least the GMT, the bezel is foil stamped or simialr and then the bezel has a covering of something to keep the stamping protected. The gens seem to employ the same different method. The foil stamp is easier for the 10 year old labor camp folks to duplicate I guess becuase it looks perfect on the White GMT. The GMT are technically mens size, but they are not very manly. The other black one shown is a Quartz model, and the ladies size. Reps she has gone through: Cartier Tank (broke the deployant clasp, still have the watch in a drawer somewhere) PP 24: (liked for awhile, but decided to have me sell recently) LV Lovely Diamonds: (liked in Josh's photos but she never warmed up to the actual watch when she got it so I sold that as well) Rolex ladies datejust with diamonds (she thought the diamonds looked fake and she busted the crystal so that one went in the garbage) I plan on selling off the larger Black J12 GMT, so that will be added to the gone through list soon. May replace that with a Frank Mueller, I think she would like one of those crazy hour ones. Thanks for looking / commenting

I check out RWG and RepGeek all the time as different posts appear on both and it helps when researching a new model. Many times if I post a picture I will post on both, which probably drives some people crazy RWG is the most experienced and overall the best. RepGeek is more active now in terms of post count, but lacks the expertise and experience you find here. RWI I really enjoyed but I just don't find the time to frequent 3 forums, so I rarely go there anymore. There posts are way down now but there are some good peps over there. I think traffic is down on all of the forums becuase of the economy. The economy has a two-fold effect: less buyers, less newbies, factories producing less new models so the old members have less to talk about and of course unfortunately even some of the old gaurd experienced members have run into financial difficulties and reps are the first to cut back on when times are tight. RepGeek Many newbies there accumulate 1000 posts in their first month and shell out advise that may not be accurate ; you do not see that too often here. There is a decidely pro josh / pro all dealer flavor there as well as well. Here members tend to be more member protective rather than dealer protective. Throw in the fact that The Zigmeister and Cheiftang plus all of the expert members; that call this forum home and it makes this the best overall forum. I don't really consider the 2 in direct competition becuase it is well worth it to frequent them both.

What do you think of my "Stealth" custom PAM 212?
rogerthat replied to RWG Technical's topic in The Panerai Area
I would vote for blue over red for the minor dial trim if you go that route. -
I added one more pic of my GT rep next to an image of the gen 6.75 for you to compare.
-
Unfortunately these modified GMT movements seem to be hit or miss. I hope the problem can easily be resolved

The main issue with the apps so far is software needs to be made specifically for this model to take advantage of the touch screen and accelator. I do think that RIM is working hard on this and will advertise extensively when they launch their very own app store to compete with Apple. Unfortunately from what I understand, the graphics will never be IPhone quality becuase although the BB screen is actually brighter it does not have 3D cababilities that the IPhone has, please correct me if I am wrong. I own both and use the BB strickly for work becuase it is no fun, the IPhone is strictly used by me for fun.

rogerthat replied to RWG Technical's topic in The Panerai Area
Fantastic example of a customized watch!!! Cheers, -
Good advise, I will pick one of those up. They are fun to play with too @FrankPower I went a little overboard on this watch. It still has flaws so I can't exactly recommend these changes be done but the visual changes between mine and the normal rep are: Cheif crystal which makes a huge difference, ETA day and datewheels, not technically accurate to the gen but much better in overallo appearance than the bright red rep wheels that just look cheap and The Zigmeister lume to C1 instead of the off colored rep lume. There is a swiss ETA inside this as well, which may have helped a little with the datewheel now appearing more flush than before but that is more of a performance upgrade than a visual one. Anyway, glad you like it, this watch on the street gets the most compliments. If you didn't see the gen you would inspect this rep and think was gen becuase of the mods. The 6.75 is closer to the gen out of the box, but that size is too big on me, I bought and sold one awhile back. The GT was my first ever rep. Cheers,
