Hard to say. I used a dremel to do it. I was taking my time to do it so it took me approximately an hour. But it was not that much. My guess is that I took less than 1mm...the bezel still looks fine I think
-
Thanks guys! It seems I have the old-style DW case, so the crystal fit the rehaut perfectly. I just had to trim the bezel a bit. Even though I like the cyclops, if I can find a no-cyclops domed version may try that on my other watch. Photos, before and after:

Thanks Ephry! Ok, I do have your watch, but it has a domed crystal. Hence, it seems that the seller never installed the phong crystal. I can't find now the original sales thread. In any case, I installed the gen crystal on my other tudor. It was tricky sanding the bezel down (it took me almost an hour!) but now everything fits well. The profile of the crystal is quite different than the stock DW, the height is lower
-
yes, I figured that I need to shave the bezel The reason why I thought that there existed a domed crystal is because I have bought another watch from the forum - a black dialed 7032 which If I remember correctly was originally built by Ephry73 -- that has a domed crystal that the seller claimed was gen. Perhaps it was a different model with the same id...
-
So, does anyone know what is the right plexi for a 7032? I have a DW 7032. I got a gen 128 off ebay but it is the flat/beveled version not the domed one like DW's crystal. Does anyone know where to buy a domed version? Does it have the same reference number?

It's like a bubble: you ride it hoping it lasts :-)

so, is there a decent caseback that will fit the 1655 case?
-
I would like to know as well. Currently the only payment option is 'cash on delivery'. No way I am giving my cc details

Amazing build. I'm embarking on the same quest myself: dung_chrono dial on gen plate, phong bezel, cartel base 1655, JoeyB insert. Trying to decide between a 2893 or a 2836 for the movement. I know the 2893 is a tricky fit, but it is a stellar movement...
-
Sorry for bringing up a dead topic, but I am also curious. What is a good source of 1655 dials? Is Yuki good enough (or better than the cartel)? HR?
-
You are a god among men...I love this watch! Thabk you RJ

try the HR hands for the 6538. The minute hand is somewhat longer and in my view fits the 28mm dial better

So, originally this was going to be a sales thread. This build took a long time to complete (approximately 2 years). Part of it was Necky being slow, part of it that I was a noob and did not know what I wanted. By the time I received it, my tastes had changed more towards smaller watches. But, as I was taking the photos, I can't help admire it. To my eyes, this is a work of art. Necky is a true master; the wait was worth it. Specs: - Jackson miny 6152 case, heavily reshaped by Necky - Necky custom 2-piece bezel - Athaya 3-piece dial - front and back plexi I think are from Necky, or kpoy - NW caseback(s) - NW CGs, reshaped by Necky; custom lever - Overhauled and serviced Molly 3601 (by strodda) - NW rolex engraved plates (these were a pita to install, had to sacrifice two molly movements) I think I am easily close to 1.5-2K in this build in terms of parts and labor. The bill from Joe alone was more than a grand. Anyway, enough talk, here are the photos:

Nice watch! This happened to me as well. I think any watchsmith familiar with a 7734 can (easily?) fix this.

Ok, I just spoke with JJ, everything arrived safely. Phew! It seems it got held up but then released and the USPS website never got updated... I did copy paste the tracking info. I sent priority flat rate small box, it uninsured and declared a value of $50 if I recall. I really hope this is not the new norm...
-
yes, package was sent to France
-
Has this happened to anyone? I sent my watch out to JJ for modding, but it seems that it is being held at customs in the US for more than three weeks. I did not realize this could happen. This really sucks, because the parts list was worth about a grand... Well, if someone has a dial like the OP or know where to source one, I would be all over it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Ditto on a good dial. I have a HR but it is a bit too light blue for my taste
-
Any thoughts? http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6924997/10000048.htm
-
duh...ok, you're probably right. Out of curiosity though, has anyone tried bleaching a dial?
-
Hey guys, I am trying to get a sun faded (not tropical per se) look on a dial, something like this: I am starting from a black HR 5513 dial. I tried the oven method (on a different dial) but everything becomes darker. I am looking to get the opposite effect. Do you think bleach would work? Any other ideas?

SpeedyG (at RWI) is Chicago based but I think he is completely backed up and has stopped taking new orders at the moment

I have also been burned as a seller many times, both on ebay and on various forums. Trust me, this does not constitute being burned, besides the hassle of relisting the item. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Thanks. He accepted a return and I reimbursed him for the transaction fees. By the way, they do not have to offer a return policy. Most sellers do not. If you choose to offer it, then I think you should honor it. I only saw it a few minutes before it was closing, and I did not have time to ask questions. I bid on it regardless because he offered a return. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
