  1. Zigmeister is one of the trusted guys who can service and do pretty much anything you need done. He's in Canada, but depending on your location there are others, spinmaster in Singapore for example does really nice work. You can also check in here to find what you need this is like vrf, trusted sellers selling gen vintage parts. http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/

You can contact those guys by sending them a pm, look them up in the list of members..

  2. You can put gen hands dial, and crystal because they will all fit. I personally think there's nothing wrong with the case. It doesn't look too sharp, but that's just from the pics.. phong's cases are usually finished pretty well, you can send it to zig or someone else to soften the case if you want, even phong would do that for you.

  3. Don't swim with your Daytona.. I don't. I wouldn't swim with the gen version either. They weren't really meant for that imo. Swim with a sub or sd. I have a bunch of them, frankens dw's and spinmaster's I have no idea if they would hold up in water but like I said I wouldn't even try. put your efforts into getting the case just right finish wise, and slap it on when you go for a drive.

  4. Nothing is new, the customs agents have so much else to worry about besides a watch that may or may not be real. Drugs, terrorism, fake cash, fraud, and other illegal items all come first so when a parcel gets stopped its usually because they don't believe the value listed at "30$ gift" like the rep company's like to mark down.. worst case imo is they try to get the receiver to pay what they feel is the proper duties. It is extremely rare. No more chance of it happening now than it did in years past. And I don't believe these raid Bs stories for a second. Somebody out there wasn't getting paid. That's it. They are basically causing these problems to themselves. Pay the piper and the raids stop. That's my 2 cents. These company's like Rolex or whoever have no power to do anything they can make lawsuits all day long its a joke. China will do as they please. I can't answer your other question because I'm not a lawer but I would have to assume that buying a rep can't get you personally into trouble unless you are bringing them in by the barrel.

  5. Again I'm far from an expert but I know that the term tropical dial is used to describe a dial that has changed color due to exposure to the sun, mostly in tropical country's, for many years and or moisture. So a dial that has been stored properly or a nos dial will never change color as far as I can tell logically... All tropical dials should therefore vary depending on those two factors so if one has been exposed to the tropical sun for 30 years should be lighter and look diff than one that was in the sun for 50 yrs...

  6. From what I have read, most v72 movements won't mount properly in the phong case, (which is the same as gen), without adding case clamps. Here is a quote from zig

"Unfortunately this is not an easy fix, not for this V72. This V72 doesn't have the required holes for the screw and clamps, the holes should be next to the balance and the other is under the operating lever spring.

The only way to get the holes in the movement, is to drill and thread them, that requires tooling and the necessary skills. You can only do this if you have the movement completely disassembled, then you can drill the mainplate and untrasoinc clean it before assembly."

I was wondering if he had done this for yours since you will be transplanting it into the phong case.
