Really really cool watch, looks amazing!

First Build a 6538 could use some opinions & sugestions

Ya they do look good, I was really tempted to get the first one. I'm a sucker for a guilt dial and hands! I'm not sure if he has any bracelets but I really think that 4000$ is reasonable. The movement is serviced and he's a magician with making the whole thing seem like it had a 50 yr life, I mean seriously maybe not the insert but the watch as a whole looks old. -

Hey chocho, I will chime in a bit here to try to save you a headache or overspending. I can only comment about phong as I have no experience with ndt or yuki. I realised quickly that if I wanted to keep my spending reasonable and be assured to get a nice completed version of exactly what I wanted, that it was best to pay phong for everything. He specializes in completed watches and just sold me a 6265 that is really amazing. I think I would have spent twice as much trying to get that level of perfection on my own. He has 3 versions of the watch you want to build and listed at 4500$. I know he has a 10% off sale till the end of the month so its about 4000$ for either one. They come with gen movements and a few other gen parts like crystal crown tube and stem. Not sure if this is the route you want to take but good luck whatever you decide. -
That is some priceless advice, looked up the exchange rate, did some market research bravo. There are some very knowledgeable people here I'm really impressed.

Dial is going to Akira guys, first to ask.

Thanks chieftang, I managed to get it all figured out with him today. He will send me what he claims is a better dial with correct spacing and better or lighter off white color ( still think this one is too yellow). If anyone has a project and wants the dial that's on my watch right now please let me know. I will drop it in the mail free of charge, since I'm getting a free replacement... I went to see a local watchsmith today and he told me that the job other than the dial color, was amazing. He said he never heard of or saw a non gen v727 with a breguet coil. Don't know exactly what that means but I guess phong went the extra mile. He also said that on any replica he's ever seen of an old Daytona, the engraving had wrong E's... Once again I'm clueless as to what he meant but something about the lines on the letter E being the exact proper proportions on mine. Apparently that's a big tell for him normally for the authenticity of the case. Anyways I can go on butin essence he was very very impressed. I'm glad phong hooked me up right and is sending me the new dial overnight delivery for free so he's a good man!

I didn't get the band from phong, I already had it lying around, I will look for 571's but these fit fine for now.

Phong said he would replace the dial, I will update once I receive it. Guess I don't have a choice, he will prob just replace it with the same one minus the subdial issue. Here are a few pics of the movement.

So I emailed him, when he sends me pics of my choices ill definitely post them here so I can get the best possible one. The movement is so beautiful, I will post closeups of it tomorrow. Thanks all

Hey guys, thanks for all the nice comments. Akira you are absolutely right its a flaw on the dial. I have emailed phong about it so we shall see if and what exactly he will do about it. I think it might just be a problem with that dial, lucky me, because all the others seem to be perfect in that regard. Thank you, I really appreciate the scrutiny, like everyone said its 6k for *#@* sake! I'm sure he will send me a better dial if he wants my business again. I'll let everyone know how it turns out

I love your photo's, they have an amazing nostalgic feel to them.
-
Just to let you know they have repped the rubberb straps so you could get one for 55$ if you wanted.
-
I had this one a while ago, the t swiss t is in the wrong spot but that's where they have always put it on the rep. I guess its the best they could do with this correct subdial spacing model. I don't see anything wrong with it as far as qc.

Thanks everyone, ill post wristshots when it arrives this week. I did check out the Ingod dials at one point but phong's deff do seem better. Even the price at 150$ can't compare to 550$ for a proper phong dial. Here's a pic of an example of each. Top is phong's.

If they were 25-30k why would I spend 6000$ to have a rep of it? That watch is 80k minimum, more like 100k+, I have the serial numbers in the case and movement that match a pn 6265. If I was in the mood for a regular version that sell for 25-40k Iwouldn't have done this, I would have bought one with a v72 instead and saved 4000$, just like the one for sale in the market section for 2000 euros. I opted for a much more accurate rep, movement wise.

"The sweep hand in the OP looks like bare metal with a white tip. I think that's fine for this type of a dial." Yes it is bare metal but of all the pictures I have ever seen of a panda pn 6265 the hand was black or grey/black. You could be right but I rather have the black. Thanks though, phong said the same thing that you did.

What could I get? We all have our own idea of what to spend that kind of money on, for me it was 100% worth it. It was even 10% off! Lol. Yes I could have attempted to source all the parts myself and maybe ended up spending less but with all the work he does to make that 727 so nice, is hard to do. I put a pic of what comes with it and I'm no expert but if we add up the price of all those individual parts and work it seems like I would prob end up spending more. Phong's reputation is rock solid and I trust that it will be amazing. To each their own!!
