More like 10,000$ (good one) it's obscene

I wish! No, it was something I was contemplating last year. I gave up, the main reason was because I love using gen inserts and for this particular watch that wasn't feasible

It's the reason I fell in love with this place to begin with, so many knowledgeable members willing to help and share what they know. One day you will have something to offer in return, it takes time

Sorry not to confuse you more but it just came to me that it's the crystal itself that must have been glued to the case then the retaining ring, spring and bezel were fitted. That makes much more sense. So basically the whole assembly was ok until the glue gave up its bond causing the crystal to come loose and take the entire assembly with it. In that case matt will clean the glue from the case, scrap that crystal and fit one that actually pressure fits onto your case instead of being glued on. Once the crystal is pressure fitted he will gradually size down the retaining ring to get a perfect fit. Either way, Matt has done it before so it shouldn't be too hard or expensive to get it done right!
-
That's what this place is all about! You are right though they will only glue it or send you another one that's glued so better off have matt fix it for good weather it's for you or a future owner

Ok so then you have everything you need. Nothing is missing. The way it works is that once the crystal is in place the retaining ring gets fitted over it, but the key is that it's a very snug fit... So snug that it takes a press to get it fully seated. The rep factory prob just couldn't get that exact snug fit, they had a loose fit and had to glue it on in order for it to stay in place. The same thing will keep happening unless you fix the key issue which is that you need a crystal that is slightly thicker (larger o.d) or a retaining ring that is tighter.. Panerai153 had that same problem and had someone fit a larger crystal so the glue wouldn't be needed. You can get his man to do the same for you or you can sell it, completely your choice!

If that is just a ridge cut into the bezel then it wouldn't have ever been able to turn... Was that the case?
-
Again I'm not sure anymore because of the design difference but I would still say that the spring is there between the bezel and retaining ring... How else is the retaining ring connected to the bezel? If you put two fingers in the inside of the retaining ring and apply pressure, and you are able to spin the bezel around as the retaining ring remains stationary then there's a spring in there allowing that to happen.. That's not a ridge cut into it.. It's two separate pieces imo

Ah so they aren't even made to gen spec, in that case make sure the dial is dust free and try gluing it back on. I wonder why they wouldn't use the same design as the orig. it's stupidly simple and effective and there's no glue!
-
Cool way of making them yourself, well done! That paint they use is extremely tough and durable, I'm thinking an enamel paint of some kind, like they used to use to make the red depth ratings on the early ncg subs

Yes mostly 5510's and 6536/1's had that feature of the lighter 6pm marker. I've always wondered why it was used on some and not others.
-
It's impossible for the spring to be missing it's in the black dark cavity between the retaining ring and the bezel and since the bezel and retaining ring are sitting there in your pic attached it can only mean one thing.. That the spring is there holding them together
-
Here is an old 6536/1 dial which has no lume left just that white paint, so you can see what it looks like.
-
They applied a very thin layer of special white paint before applying the lume, it was to protect the dial from the radiation. So after the dial was lacquered they would apply that special white paint and then the lume over that.

It looks to me like the retaining ring and spring is right there attached to the bezel... It's a design flaw where the retaining ring won't let go of the spring.. A bit complicated but in short you can press the whole assembly back on, it's all there.

Could be any watches who's dials command huge premiums.. comex, Arabic logo dials, Tiffany dials, old gilts, pn daytonas etc we don't know exactly

It's not a pearl, it's some kind of epoxy made to look like tritium, which does sit flush with the top of the hole. It's what nanuq was trying to show exept that the one I showed from vrm was done a little better than the one he was showing us from ebay

Go on with your life as if nothing happened, and nothing will. Do not respond

I've seen that before, I'm not sure how to do it though. Here's one that was for sale recently on vrm
