  1. Gotcha, thanks. Also, was there any special meaning to the "-2" at the end of the movement numbers? Does it imply that there were "-1" versions?
  2. Well I really don't know, so it was more of a question than anything else. Are they pretty much the same movement - just that the 2836 has an extra wheel?
  3. I think that would make sense, but only if the reliability and quality/accuracy of the 2836 and 2824 were comparable.
  4. Weight then? (sorry for the newbie questions)
  5. So if one were to buy an Ingenieur with the 2836 movement, would that cause any problems or affect the thickness of the watch?
  6. Ah, thanks for the quick reply. So then why would the 2836 be an option for models like the PO or 3227 Ingeniueur when there is obviously no date function?
  7. Hey guys, I was just going through some of the rep sites, and I noticed that some of the models allow you to choose either the 2836 or 2824 movement. I'm still relatively new to all this, and I was wondering if someone could tell me the main differences between the two. Is any particular one "better" than the other, and which is typically more expensive? Thanks!
  8. Yes, I believe so. I wonder how the lume is on that watch...?
  9. I know what you mean. Collecting straps for them can be equally addictive!
  10. My understanding (at least for the gens) is that the APROO is comparable diameter-wise to the 45.5 PO. But it would wear much thicker.
  11. Can anyone comment on exactly how far off the rep datewheels are off from the gens? I've been looking at pictures, and I can't find what everyone is talking about. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place...?

The 111 is a great model, can't go wrong with it.

I know what you mean. The bezel triangle also really bugs me as well. And it seems no one has yet gotten the carved bezel numbers the right thickness yet. I've found that all reps have numbers that are too thin (should be a little bolder).
  14. I realize that, but I'm not even talking about getting that deep green look. I've handled gens, and the green color on the crystal is too far down on the reps. The shade of green is also too deep. Like you mentioned, it should be coke bottle green. The GV reps really need a significant improvement on the crystals - right now, they are just a tell tale giveaway.
  15. Congratulations! Collecting straps is equally, if not more, addicting. ;-)
  16. If you're already wearing the PO, I wouldn't worry too much about the size of a Panerai.
  17. I don't see much posted on here about the Milgauss, but it seems to me that even the best "ultimate" versions out currently still look terrible, especially on the GV version. The caseback, bracelet, clasp and crown all look great. But the green sapphire is really lacking. On the gen, there isn't supposed to be a green reflection when you look at an angle, and the inside edge of the crystal isn't supposed to have the green tint. It's the outside edge that looks green. Also, no one seems to be able to get the orange lighting second hand right yet... Am I alone in noticing these flaws?

Good stuff, JKay, thanks for the information. Sounds like Noob has the better overall look out of the box.
  19. Not sure what point #4 is referring to regarding the "petina"(?) on the dial...

I read that Trevor has thinner (more gen-like) hour marker rings while the Noob versions are too fat. What other flaws does each have?
  21. I'll have to keep this one in mind, ubiquitous. Any pointers on where I'd be able to pick one of those shark straps up? Or any pictures of it? :-)
  22. I read about how the crown is not offset like on the gen. But what are the differences in the datewheel and thickness?
