Picked it up on the Bay and have a couple of more on the way. I won this one for $200 - a bit pricey but it is a very unique and uncommon dial. The other two I purchased on the Bay were much cheaper because they are rather common Datejust dials - both under $100 - black with Romans and silver with stick markers.
I put a Genuine Rolex Anniversary Dial on my TT Datejust from Ruby and it has upped the quality of the looks signifigantly. I chose an anniversary dial in charcoal with gold Arabic numbers. The dial fits perfectly on the ETA movement once the legs are removed. I glued the dial in place with a small amount of contact cement and it was good to go.
I believe that the dials are one of the weakest links on some Reps and in the case of this one that was the case. Now the watch pops. I have purchased two new Gen dials for two other Datejusts and will post pics of te swaps in due course.
This was a simple mod with assistance from the fourm search function all the instructions and tips were found.
Cheers and thanks to all fourm members who took time to post their mods and instructions as they gave me the confidence to try this myself.
Dials on most reps are a dead give away. -Now I do not own an MBW or ansuper reps but do have some good ones and the dials can not stand close inspection.
What is the point of buying Gens - I feel that I have wasted a lot of momey in the past on the Gen Rolexes I have purchased given how good some of the Rolex reps I have are right now. What a shift in thinking. - But I digress from the thread's subject - I suggest a gold plated Daydate - it is an arm grabber- Cheers
I have only had one person ever ask about one of my watches and that was years ago. My co-workers could care less - in fact I have found people to be very into themselves and observe very little outside their own sphere of interest. There just arn't many watch people outside of these forums. Cheers
I have a Gen Rolex Oyster 34mm case that I want to fit with a movement. I tried standard Rep ETA Datejust movement and it is too large diameter wise. If anybody has done a transplant can you advise me on the size ETA I need.
Thanks much - Cheers
Forums embolden people in a way that sitting around a table having a discussion with strangers would not. The anonomity of the virtual world offers a sense of protection for some such that they become brazen in "talking down" to others. All the forums I have been on have the same type of people and postings. The clubby behaviour exists on every forum I have been on. I have learned that it is easy to ignore the people that bother and to not read threads that inflame. Your forum experience is in your own control. Cheers
Here Here - point well made. Perhaps if there was a yearly membership fee to view and post on this forum there would be enough money to persue offshore hosting options. One level of membership for all could be the "VIP" membership.
