You are right about the bezel teeth. It is going to be filing time again. I think that these watches are going to require some mods but that is what makes this such a fun hobby for me. I think that they are fairly good renditions of a little seen watch so very few people will be able to detect flaws except the Savants. Cheers

Amazing people actually bid on his auctions. One of his feedback states that the watch he was selling was a fake. eBay is for the hard of thinking.

Nobody but a current Datejust owner will be able to tell your Datejust is a fake and every body else will just assume it is a fake. It is a Rolex rep and screams fake because of it. I have one of the new Datejust reps and it is not perfect but good enough. the easiest way to upgrade closer to "super rep" is with a gen dial swap and a gen crown upgrade. The dial will cost you more than your rep did. Perhaps a thicker gasket for the crystal seat could help raise it ? I don't know what to do about the rehaut. Cheers

I do not believe that it is dead. I was in email contact with Silex about the watch a few weeks ago and was told that the dial was being worked on. I like what TTK has shown quite a lot but I can not order a watch without knowing what the price is first. Cheers

Perspective - your perspective is off. A $200 rep should not be expected to be perfect - it is a cheap copy. If you want the best rendition of a brand watch buy the real thing at 100 times the price. You will receive a better version and be out 20K. Cheers

Thanks Vmena - The Tudor caseback is engraved usually. I think I am going to go the Tudor route for a base for my next Franken.

Any experienced Franken makers have an opinion on using a Tudor Date 34mm as a base to make a Rolex Oysterdate. Is this simply a dial and caseback mod or does it require more work. It seems to me to be a logical mod but I do not know about parts excahng. Would appreciate thoughts. Cheers

I have had two so called "Swiss movements" in two Datejusts go tilt on me after a few months and 1 of the notorious 7750's in a Daytona die a quick death. These were new watches. I have an Asian slow beat still running in a $100 Datejust and it has been trouble free for 2 months. I guess a 30% failure rate in the rep world would fall into the accepted normal range. Cheers

I have never had a comment from anybody on my reps so I do not know if they pass. I did have an Invicta Yachtmaster in all gold that got a couple of women to grab my wrist to see what kind of watch it was. Another commented on my nice Rolex thinking the Invicta was a gold Yacht-Master. I guess from a distance almost anything can pass as the real thing. Just don't feel the need to go to AD with a rep. Who really gains anything by doing that? Cheers

I see the trade section as the free market at work. It is a case of supply and demand and prices a result of such. I have purchased and sold on the trade forum and have both given and gotten good deals. I do not expect good deals but look for them and act when I find the watch I want at the right price. Acting fast is the only way to get that great deal. I will not pay a premimum for a used watch unless there is some value added to it. If I am going to pay a premium I'll buy new watch from a seller who does not drop ship and does not charge extra for shipping. A little research and that seller can be found. Cheers

You need two industrial size fans that are 4 feet in diameter aimed opposite and blowing across the area needing to be covered. There should be enough wind power generated to blow away all flying insects who fly near the zone. I have not tried this myself but in theory it should work. Might be loud and windy but definitely no mosquitoes to bug you. Cheers
