Someone could pretend to be a Swatch Group lawyer and send this guy a threatening email. something along these lines: Dear mr. Bozo, if your Ebay sale of that fake Omega Seamaster will actually take place, we'll send you a lawsuit of one million Euros. (1.000.000 €) However, if you agree to remove that auction immediately... guess what... we're going to sue your ass anyway. Have a nice day, and thank you dearly for your courtesy and co-operation. Glad you like the GMTIIc Stephane... I never fully warmed to that watch for some reason. I agree the rep is really nice though. I'm wearing something more "traditional" today... the mighty black Sub. These "classic" models are more to my liking.
-
That older version has a terrible flaw: Datewheel and cyclops positioned way too right. I would never recommend that over the Noob version which is (imho) very good and looks fundamentally correct. But hey, it's your money.

There is Aquaracer quartz chrono (gen) as well. Unfortunately the quartz rep looks nothing like it. Gen. The quartz rep is made of the automatic version. Quartz Aquaracer chronos can be found for as low as $600 preowned. I suggest you go for the gen... it's really nicely finished quality watch and the cheap quartz reps can never compare.

Submariner WM9 v1 - which dealer sells at 'best' price ?
By-Tor replied to P_Diddy's topic in The Rolex Area
Glad you liked the review P_Diddy. Precious Time was able to source the v1 version. I would ask him. -
I love that classic Dweller... and also the no-date Sub. If I ever get another Rolex gen... well those are the main candidates.
-
That seller is a major crook. He has lots of stolen photos in his page. All are of gen watches. This gen Aquaracer is

So Doc... when are we going to see pics of that grey beauty? Must be quite a watch. I love my date-only version with passion. There's just something quite unique about the Aquaracer case shape.

Discovery today. Along with Explorer II this has to be my favorite "whitey" of all time.

You don't have to like them, but for an average person (who's not into watches) Rolex is the watch that carries the biggest prestige and brand recognition. Everyone knows the name. Most average people have never heard of really expensive and prestigious watches like Patek, Breguet, JLC, etc. Yeah, most of that comes from clever marketing... but Rolex watches actually ARE very good quality. If Breguet and Patek are Lamborghini and Aston Martin, Rolex is to watches what Mercedes is to cars. And it's the same old blues... many Mazda and Toyota owners will always tell how much Mercs suck. Not all of them would like to own one, but many secretly do. Rolex probably isn't my favorite brand, but I love the classic sports line. On the other hand I hate their tasteless bling collection with passion.

I think that PO is the so-called "3rd Gen" version. Same watch that I reviewed in the old RWG back in 2005 or very early 2006. I could be wrong though. Nice. Wearing my blue beauty today.

What is with the HUGE watch craze these days?
By-Tor replied to john7830's topic in General Discussion
Couldn't agree more with Ubi. Wear what you like... and whatever feels best for you. Who cares what other people think. It's also true that some watches wear much bigger than their actual size. Some wear much smaller. Ebel BTR and UPO 45mm are the same size, but BTR wears very balanced while UPO w/bracelet always felt very clumsy to me. Rolex DeepSea is an ugly watch and a big departure from their classic sports line. I don't like the watch at all... and I never felt 40mm Rolex is "small". They're about perfect sports watches to me. -
Brussels annual GTG 2009: the second edition!
By-Tor replied to Stephane's topic in General Discussion
The look of this type of brown padded envelope has become very familiar to all of us during the years. Looks like you guys had a great time. Unfortunately my real life situation prevented me from coming there. But eventually it would be great to meet you all. Thanks for the pics! I'm sure you had lots of fun. -
Just a bump to this amazing thread. My "Explorer II-only" collection.

Maybe Air-Kings beg for a bit higher price... but this was the first result from TZ sales forum... an Oyster Date Precision. This went for $1200 and it had full RSC treatment. I've seen them go for $800. Not much money for a gen Rolex, eh? Regardless of the brand, everything below 40mm is cheap these days.
-
Exactly. Just look at the price difference with these following models in the preowned market: Speedmaster Moon Watch = premium price Speedmaster "reduced" = Significantly cheaper Omega "Bond" SMP full size = premium price Midsize version = Cheap as hell Tudor Submariner = Expensive, becoming scary expensive Tudor Mini-Sub: Cheap as hell I have also noticed that you can get a Ebel Sports Classic and those 38mm 1911 models for bargain prices, but all 41-43mm versions cost a ton. Exactly the same thing with vintage SMP's... those vintage Seamasters that have large cases are VERY expensive. We don't even have to mention the preowned Rolex market... only the 40mm sports models are desirable among the buyers... and very expensive (GMT Master, Sub, Dweller, Explorer II, Daytona) but you'll be lucky if you get $800 for your Air-King or Oyster Precision. Explorer I and/or DateJust never become very collectible, either.

I thought I already did. Check your pm.

You can get my BTR strap if you want... for a few bucks. Let's say $15 + shipping. It's like new. I only wear my watch on a bracelet... I'm not a strap guy at all.
-
Check out my article. BTR is available on a strap as a default. The bracelet and strap are extremely easy to swap. They're attached with 4 small screws. The only challenge is not to lose those screws when you're doing the swap.
-
But then again people used to wear 35mm watches on ANY kinds of wrists just 10 years ago. Very few models were over 40mm. Rolex 40mm was considered very large watch. The big watch thing (over 42mm) has been going on for about 5-6 years only. Maybe the trend changes and these older <40mm watches become fashionable (and more desirable) again. Now they're ridiculously cheap... so people who like them have plenty of great choices.

Some (long overdue) updates to the Omega Guide. Added reviews of the new Constellation Chrono (+ review to Francisco's movement breakdown) and the PO Chrono (+ Lani's photo + link to his excellent pictorial). Enjoy. And let me know if you see something that's out of date.

Thank God it wasn't real... I was actually thinking about PS but you had cleverly set the RPM meter at 7000 as well. Good one.
-
@Jawo: You're actually driving 255 km/h and snapping watch photos at the same time? Crazy man.
-
Thanks man. Glad you have enjoyed my articles. Well you can be absolutely certain that there is no good rep of the TAG 2000 available. Generally they go for around $500 preowned, so a ETA-based rep wouldn't make any sense. There used to be a cheap rep of the Aquaracer non-chrono, but it wasn't very good quality.
