  1. So... the summary is: The old version is more accurate. Shame... I like the red OMEGA lettering on the new.
  2. Euromariner is extremely close, yes. Definitely the best Sub if you don't want to do any mods. The WM9 might have a bit better specs... the crystal/rehaut combo on that is superb... but getting it to "99% shape" requires a lot of modding and money. Good luck, and happy hunting!
  3. GMTIIc is one of the best. Black dial SFSO would be another... black Aquaracer Chrono... or Ebel Discovery Chrono. Lots of extremely close reps out there... but they all have at least some flaws. It might have sounded a bit sarcastic, but it wasn't. We all basically wanted to tell you that all reps have flaws... obsessing over those small inaccuracies won't help. None of the reps are "99%". If you want perfection the only way is to buy the gen.
  4. Yep... reps are not for you. It seems to me that they all have flaws that you could never live with. Buy the gen... they're only $7000.
  5. Eurotimez has the Noob version. Brilliant (save the thick GMT hand and oversized crown). SELs aren't as good as on my older Noob version, either. But definitely possible to mod really close (if you can live with the WHS). This is a great rep... the good thing about black version is that you don't have the problem with those dial markers (grey on the white rep). I'm between this one and the WM9 Sub. Decisions, decisions...
  6. Freddy's pic inspired me to change to my Ceramic.
  7. You're probably right. Precious Time's new "1:1 Sub" is the same as WM9 and he said it comes from the same factory. It has all the characteristics of the old TW model, ie. solid middle links on the bracelet and same kind of sticker.
  8. What's the difference? Well, they're two different rep models. TW Best can't hold a candle to the WM9 version, which is possible to modify to almost indistinguishable. WM9 has brilliant rehaut thickness, depth and bezel construction, while the old TW Best has many, many fundamental shortcomings. Read this review. Everything applies to the TT model as well. But keep in mind that "TW Best" was considered the "best base" back then. Now the Euromariner and WM9 make it look very outdated.
  9. Yes and no. It's definitely not a watch that I could ever consider as a gen. Old 16710 GMT, Sub, ExpII and the classic SeaDweller all belong to the classic category, but this new GMTIIc lacks something... can't really explain what it is. But as a $300 rep it's a great buy and a welcome addition. I really like wearing it.
  10. Are you sure the seconds hand doesn't get stuck with the minute hand? Have you opened the caseback and checked that the rotor isn't loose?
  11. ...that I want another black Explorer II. White Polar Explorer is the version, but more I think about, more I'd love to add a black one (similar as Stephane's gen) to my collection. My "whitey" needs some company. The "Noob" version is extremely accurate, and can be sourced by bklm1234 and Eurotimez. I just love the ExpII... such a beauty! I actually miss my black ExpII.
  12. Congrats my friend. We all know how accurate Skyland is, and it looks GREAT!
  13. This forum has a link section. Go there and choose "Dealer Web Sites". Shouldn't be difficult to find.
  14. Nobody catched the polished middle links on the bracelet?
  15. Phew... been a busy weekend. Sporting the GMTIIc right now.
  16. I agree about 45mm UPO. Great rep... just too big watch. GMT IIc is extremely accurate. As a watch it can never match the classic versions of the GMT Master (1675 and 16710). But all Rolex fans should own this rep because it's so damn nicely done.
  17. Wow... just wow! This must be the best review I've ever read. This rep is so good (and the watch so cool) that it certainly deserves this. I will definitely add this to the Omega Guide, plus pin it to the Omega section when the thread has ran its course.
  18. Thanks Shunid, but like the post stated: I didn't mean "inaccurate reps" or watches that had technical problems. I meant watch brands or models that you didn't like (as a watch). Like how it wore, too big, too small, disappointing design, etc. And please explain why you didn't like them.
  19. As the title suggests: What was your biggest rep disappointment? A watch that looked great on the pictures but when you had it on your wrist it didn't "grab" you at all? I'm not talking about disappointing flaws, crooked dial markers or anything like that... but the watches that you simply didn't like (as a watch), as much as you thought you would... rep or gen. This might be a bit negative subject, but still interesting (imho). For me it was the MBW 1680. My friend Palp did a great job with the dial aging, but I never really grew to like it. One thing was the highly protruded crystal... another was the vintage look (which admittedly looked very authentic) which I felt didn't suit for a guy in his (back then) early 30's. Weird, huh? Of course another reason was the cost of getting all the gen parts... and I never thought it was worth the effort, since the red dial on the MBW looks so wrong anyway. My friends Nanuq and Stephane will probably hate me for this, but I guess I'm not much of a vintage Rolex guy. The only vintage model that I really find fascinating is the 1675, and that's because it's the watch that I grew up with (my dad's watch that I always admired). Okay... I could live with the Orange hand McQueen Explorer II and white SeaDweller (similar as Ubi's) too. Don't get me wrong, I find the vintage Rolexes very fascinating and interesting, and I completely understand the attraction... but they're not for me. So... let's hear your stories.
  20. It won't come out... impossible... unless they make a "frozen stopwatch" version. There are no rep movement available for that. Congrats for the gen... would love to see pics of that classic when it arrives.
  21. There are 2 different subdial marker colors on the gen: orange and red (a bit "pinkish" red). Both are definitely correct.
  22. You found the TAG Heuer area. Congrats for that! But why didn't you read the "sticky" post in this forum, that clearly states that there are no good Monaco reps. That same sticky also explains why. All claims of 1:1 TAG Monaco reps are scam... just like the sites that advertise them. Perhaps you could settle for a $100 faux chrono version? There are some rather nice ones out there... not accurate technically, but look nice. Happy hunting!
  23. We're talking about one of the most well known and most popular watches in the world here. Why do you think it wouldn't sell? The only reason that I can think of is their (quite) low prices in the preowned gen market.
