Few.... As much as I like reps and frankens, I love antique timepieces even more. Each to his own but I think it would have been a real shame if you tore out this movement to build a Franken or have the movement altered for some other creation. Glad you are not I would love to see the process/results of the restoration, please post if you have the time and means. Good luck on the project!

How does the front of the watch look? Is it not worth while to have the watch restorated instead of using the movement for a Franken?

Received my Swiss IWC CD yesterday, not to happy with the QC. Same problems as already stated here, dirt under the crystal, 1 fine scratches on the dial, sloopy lume, a bit of paint chipped off the 2 marker.

Possible to fit GST Bracelet on Costeau Divers?
ravishingrick replied to ravishingrick's topic in The IWC Area
Thx for the answers guys, pitty it wont work! -
I was just looking at sql_plus pictures in the members section of his GST. Looking at the pictures it struck me that the case of the SS GST looks similar to the case of the IWC Costeau Divers. Just wondering if thereis a member that currently has both watches and is willing to see if it possible to fit the GST bracelet to the Costeau Divers?

Wont The Zigmeister have to cut off the posts of the hands and glue on larger posts that fit the Swiss 7750. I do not get how replacing an Asia 7750 with a Swiss 7750 can be much cheaper the getting an out of the box IWC CD with Swiss 7750. Whats the beat of the 7750 old version Swiss Valjoux 7750's you have? 28880 vph? or lower? Please correct me if I am wrong Kruzer00 IWC CD Asia 7750 418 Swiss Valjoux 7750 (Old version 17 jewels, Beat? ) 150 Overhaul costs 200 (price estimate) Shipping to The Zigmeister 20 Total 788$ Result -> IWC CD, With hacked hands and oldversion Valjoux 7750 IWD CD Asia 7750 418 Swiss Valjoux 7750 (Current version 25 jewels, Ofrei) 342 Overhaul costs 200 (price estimate) Shipping to The Zigmeister 20 Total 980$ Result -> IWC CD, With hacked hands, new version Valjoux 7750, but more expensive then a out off the box Swiss. Out off the box IWC CD with Swiss Valjoux 7750 25 jewels, 28880 vph, comes default with correct size hands -> 788$? http://www.ofrei.com/page240.html -

Anyone who orderd the costeau divers recieve a conformation from there dealer that the watch is on its way? Just curious to know when I can expect the first pics/reviews? Almost gave in for a Swiss, but a little voice in my mind convinced me to wait for member pics & reviews before blowing some of my sourly earned cash... Thanks, RR. -

Love the costeau divers line... If I had loot to buy a gen I would have a real difficult task choosing between the 2006 & 2007 version.. -
This movement is incorrect for the vintage Panerai's, the correct movement for the PAM 203 and other Angelus based legacy Panerai's is the Cal240 (no alarm).

Congradulations with that goergeous PAM! Waer it well!

I owned a fully modded 183 with a gen 27X22 tanned calf starp, but it just did not do it for me. The case of the rep does not have the sharp contours as the gen, the crown does not sit as close to the case & the lug wires of the rep are ugly and incorrect.... I think you made a wise decision to sell off your reps for these gens... They are true beauties.. wear em well...

I am drooling about your watch, excellent watch. A palp crown would be the cherry on the cake.....

ETA 6497-1 does not set to timesetting position
ravishingrick replied to ravishingrick's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I have fastened the stem real tight, by tightening the stem screw to the max, but still this does not fix the problem. I think the gears that manage the winding/time setting function are jammed somehow. When I pull out the stem, the gears dont shift, by trying to get the gears to shift I apply more force then useual, probably to much force that causes the stem comes loose. PS: Anyone know where I can get a supply of stems for (PAMS) ETA 6497 movements? -
Hi, I have a problem with a PAM with swiss ETA 6497. Out off the blue the watch cannot be set into time setting position. It winds up O.K. but when I attempt to pull out the stem, the movement does not shift into time setting mode, If I pull real hard the stem just comes out completely and the watch remains in winding mode. I tried several times to refasten the stem, tightened the stem screw real hard, and retried to engage in time setting mode, but I just keep on pulling out the stem. Anyone know how to fix? Michael.

Checkout the panerai website... Just curious, what do you think of the new moddels? Prefer the new moddels, 1950-ish and radiomir moddels with crowded dials and impressive technical inhouse movements, or prefer the old school simplistic clean dial Panerai moddels (Lumonors, Bases etc)?
