Still enjoying my daily beater, have been wearing this PAM for more the 2 years. Allot of watches have come and gone, but have been wearing this for 90% of the time... Proves to me that swiss movement reps are the way to go... -
The Iwc Aquatimer Chronograph Cousteau Divers
ravishingrick replied to PureTime's topic in The IWC Area
Wow the is looking very promising, thanks for your input on this Angus. As already commented the inner ring numerals should have the same shade of white as the outer ring numerals. Can't wait for this baby to be on my wrist... -
The Iwc Aquatimer Chronograph Cousteau Divers
ravishingrick replied to PureTime's topic in The IWC Area
Who are they? Where did you get this information from? I have not bought a rep in about five months, owned about 15 reps since 03-2005, sold all my reps but one. I have been eagerly waiting to pull the trigger on a swiss version of the Costeau divers.... But if these rumors are true, 500$ for an Asian 7750 Costeau, guessing around 750$ for a Swiss, I simply can not justify laying down that amount of money for a rep that will have a resale value of probably less the half the original purchase price. It shall be adios to reps and hello to the gen world... 2K buys a lightly used gen aquatimer (non chrono version) that holds its value... 3K a gen PAM112... -
few... I almost shat in my pants..

The Iwc Aquatimer Chronograph Cousteau Divers

- Looks to be missing the 3 o' clock lume marker right of the date window. - Wood looks crap. - Lume looks awful - I am glad this is coming out with swiss 7750 - The overall look of the rep looks fantastic i.m.o. (but the stated flaws need to be improved, before I make a purchase) -
Never bought an Asia 7750 based watch... never will... You get what you pay for... If you want a chrono that works, shell out the extra cash for a swiss 7750 based watch. Your asia 7750 will break eventually, these movements are of inferior qaulity .. periode...

No need to thank me, the pleasure was mine. Congradulations to your wife with the excellent choice. .

Looks good to me... No reccessed pin -> thats a major improvement, missing the L-SWISS-MADE-L make the dial look very clean, but is not acurate. The movement is correct for this moddel.

I need this watch superlumed and with swiss engine... bad...

If your interested in a great TI PAM, checkout Davidsens thread on RWI in the Panerai section. Davidsen is cooking up a some new 1:1 Titanium PAM's. ~PAM036 (T-SWISS-T dial) ~PAM82 (Marina Militare Verspuchi Blue Dial) ~PAM 116 (Tobago Dial base) ~PAM??? (White dial pre-vendome PAM) Allot of input on PAM details regarding, dial's, fonts, crowns etc gave been given by the RWI members to Davidsen for this project. Davidsen said to take all the comments in to account to create the best TI PAM's that have ever hit the streets. The prototype looks very promising, excellent 1:1 crown fat Crown Guard, good looking case...

270$ for a standard swiss movement rep. 250$ + cost of movement for a high end original movement rep (swiss ETA 7750, 7753, 2892-a2, 2893) Asian movement based reps, are a nogo for me, I consider them as disposable watches with a life expectancy of about 1 to 4 months max. As a matter of fact I have only bought 1 asian movement based rep in the past 2 years I have been into reps, a Davidsen 195 with an asia 6497-2. Sold the watch within a week. I not as bothered with high prices for solid movement reps, for a 15th of the price you can own a watch that movement wise is on par with the gen (use the same movement) and with a few mods can maybe approach 60-70 percent of the finish and accuracy of the gen.

I love this watch, if this comes out with swiss 7750 its going to be the first non PAM rep that I'll purchase... Anyone have any news when the rep is going to be released?
-
Very nice watch, imho nicer the all other candidates Richards polls...
-
I like it allot... except the numerals look like tritium but the dial reads L SWISS L... Where you source the dial, or how did you get it too look like a T-dial?

There are more breakdowns on the site, so if you enjoy these, checkout the main site. Pitty his explenation is in dutch, but his picture speak for them selves. The Official Franken/modded Thread

@reelamore, that is one beautifull timepiece :cloud9: The next best thing next to a PAM203... -
Agreed, I want the watch because the 118 is my favourite watch a this moment and has been for the last 2 years. I have had the PAM118 rep for almost 2 years now and feel that if if I had the gen, it would probable keep it with me for a lifetime. If I am fortunate enough to have a son in the future, I think its a watch that is worthy of passing it on to my son... I believe the 118 shall be one of the classic PAM's in about 10 to 15 years. I also think its a better buy/investment wis then a 111 or 112. On the Paneristi there are more 118 WTB's the FS's, Paneristi's willing to pay more the 5.5K for a 118 and still having not succeeding in on getting there hands on one..

Here is a link to rivers post, he attempted a while ago to build a franken PAM203 with an Angelus 8-days taken from a similar clofck. I have not read the whole thread, but there a allot of comments about the different angelus 8 days movements... Hope it helps... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=8467&hl=

I am saving up to buy a second hand discontinued PAM118 tobacco dial. I have a rep PAM118 that has been, supedlume, cannon pin fix, plap crown, 036 crown guard soon to be installed, with Dirk PreV strap... but it still does not come close to the real thing... I think a gen PAM 118 is a good buy, the tobacco dials are getting scarcer and scarcer, so I think it will increase value over time...
