  1. Hi, I am going to visit Zurich for a few day's. If anyone here has some recommendation's of special sites to see or some interesting things to do while in Zurich, please share. BTW How hot is the watch seen in Zurich, any watch store recommendations? Thx, RR
  2. Thanks for the advice gang, I have decide to purchase the watch and if all goes well shall have it in a few weeks. Shall post some pics then. Cheers RR.
  3. What ever option you choose do not have your items shipped using Fedex. The highst posibilty with having your reps confiscated or having to pay import taxes is if you use Fedex.
  4. Lessons should be learned from Jay's experience. Do not make large orders at once from Davidsen, rather order one piece if you are satisfied with what you have received order the next and so on... I advise you to take the time and read Jay's post (link provided by frankt)
  5. Most OEM PVD finishes look to mate pencil gray, this PAM looks to be more of a shiny DLC black. The flawless finish, shiny very dark coating makes me suspect it of being a recently DLC-ed PAM.
  6. Checkout this gallery for some inspiration, not sure how many of these are under 1000$: hxxp://www.pmwf.com/Gallery/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=1 *** replace xx with tt in the given url.
  7. Will be wearing this for the rest of the week...
  8. You should ask him prior to ordering how tall his sapphire crystal is, they used to be 3.3mm while the standard rep crystal and OEM PAM Luminor crystals are 3.5mm tall. Seem like a small difference but if you install Davidsens crystal on a standard rep it shall sit flush or below flush with the bezel instead of sticking out a few mm. Imho bellow flush in frigging fugly Just my 2 cents.
  9. I share you opinion that the painted dial and the original non CDG movements will be worth more in the future. Man how I love the painted dials and non CDG movements. The seller has granted me a few weeks to think it over, so thats what I am going to do, but I think I am going to go for it. I prefer to have the watch with box an papers and would gladly pay the extra 500$ for the same watch with boxes and papers, but would hate to miss the boat on this peace. My plan B is to buy the watch and if I later come across another good deal for the same model watch with box a papers to buy that one too and later sell the one without. I do not foresee having to much trouble reselling this model with or without papers. Thanks all for your input.
  10. Shall be wearing this for a while...
  11. I have the opportunity to buy a genuine PAM176G which is quite rare, but without boxes, papers straps and all other extra's. Of the painted dial 176's only 1200 where produced. In the last year I have only seen 1 or 2 for sale and in the last six months none at all. It looks like owners of these models are holding on to them due to the recent price rises and the speculation that Panerai might stop producing the 6497 models in a couple of years. The seller is asking last years going price for the same model with box and papers (3800$). The watch has swapped owners once and is a safe queen and in good shape say about 95% but has never been serviced. What are the cons/pros of purchasing a quite rare piece without boxes and papers? How much of the of the price should be deducted because the watch is missing it's boxes and papers? And how will it missing it's boxes and papers influence it's future value?
  12. I started collecting reps after a friend offered me a 35 Euro fantasy replica Panerai around January 2005. Before this offer I had no interest what so ever in watches and certainly had never seen or heard of a Panerai in my life before. I purchased my first replica Panerai because it appealed to me in some strange way that I could not quite put my finger on, I was drawn to the brand\watch as metal to a magnet. Shortly after my first purchase I started lurking the Panerai site and dreaming of purchasing the real deal. At the time I was just finished my education and did not have the financial means to purchase a genuine, so I stared to look for the next best thing. After searching the web for high end replica's I luckily found RWG1. Thats what the time I purchase my first high end replica Pam 118 from Paul. I have owned about 15 reps in the last 3 years, but currently own only 4 high end highly modded replica's that I love and don't think I shall ever let go. I currently buy 1 or 2 reps a year. The fun thing with reps for me was getting the very good reps, but not yet there to the next level (almost spot on). Hunting for parts and finally modding or getting them modded, tinkering with them, learning about the movements is all part of the fun. My opinion of replica's and genuine's has changed over time, I used to think it was a waist of money to buy genuine's because the reps come so close optically and in some cases when using the exact same movement as the genuine, mechanically to the genuine. After working very hard the last few years I am now in the position to buy my first gen in the under the 4K. Contrary to my previous opinions I do not see it as a waist of money to lay down 4K for a genuine Panerai. By getting the real deal I shall be fore filling a dream, getting a peace that shall probably appreciate in value and having a watch that shall later be worthy of passing on to future generations. Reps to me shall always be second best, no matter how close the come to the gen, If watches are your passion in life why settle for second best. If you select you genuine' s wisely you can certainly break even with them or even earn some money with genuine's, while most reps deprecate in value.
  13. Yes you wright kye but I just can not source a second JF CG for the 002B, so in the mean time I am enjoying the watch with V's CG. In it's current state the watch is hovering between a 002B and a 112G. I believe some 112G came out with the "H-Series" crown guard and painted dial, but then again the 112G has a.r. on the crystal and open caseback's and mine caseback is closed and does not have a.r. A b-series crown gaud would make the watch a very accurate b-series. So the best description of the watch in its current state is a hybrid 002B/112G I guess. I am on the lookout for a second JF CG, Gen CG, PreV dial or 2A T dial to possibly take the watch to the next level of looks and accuracy. PS: Thanks allot guys for the compliments, I really appreciate them.
  14. I'll come too If you guys forgive me for not being able to make it to Brussels the first GTG
  15. Excellent purchase . Wise decision to hold on to it! Wear it well
  16. Thanks for the informative and interesting review. Got my Swiss 7750 version right after they where released in 2007 from Angus too. I really love this watch with a passion. Was thought of a foolish for laying the extra 300$ down for the Swiss 7750 version but with the current ETA 7750 prices, looking back the price I paid for it then was a steal at 728$. Think I am going to buy a second case set while they are still available just in case the case or crystal gets banged up in the future as I want to keep this watch in a 90%+ state for a looooooong time! Which of the two cases + crystal is better or are they the same?
  17. Thanks all for the kind words. Let me spill the beans on the mods that have been carried out. List of mods added to initial post.
  18. Just received my PAM27 back from The Zigmeister and I am completely blown away by the work he has done. Thanks allot The Zigmeister. Tried several attempts to capture the look of the tritium look lume, but failed terribly. The pictures do not do justice to how wonderful the dial/lume looks in reality. The PAM002B/112G hybrid was modded by myself. List of mods: PAM27: - Aged tritium lume job by The Zigmeister. - Lello datewheel installed by The Zigmeister. - sssurfer cyclops installed by The Zigmeister. - Genuine crown instalation by The Zigmeister. - Flattened CG pinion by me - Jimmyzfu CG installation by me. ** Strap: OEM PreV black calf on logo buckle. Pam 002B - S.L. lume job by vaccum *** the folloing mods done by me. - Cannon pin flattened and polished. - High cannon pin installation. - Davidsen hands installation. - Removed a.r. from sapphire cystal. - Assebled Jimmyzfu case/bezel/crystal - Gen crown installation. - Refinished V crown guard. - Installation V Crown guard. *** Strap: Dirk tanned calf on 5218-2 Buckle. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures.
  19. I will not work. The spacing of the small seconds hand, power reserve hand, and date window on the movement _all_ have to be in the _exact_ same position as they are positioned on the Genuine dial. Tolerances are close to _tenths_ of millimeters. The seagull movement used in the Rep pam222 or pam90 have a different spacing then the Gen movement/dial. For example the position of the power reserve pinion on the seagull is _several_ millimeters lower positioned then on the OEM movement. That alone is an example of why it shall not work. As advised by Kruzer and myself you best shot is sourcing a gen movement, seen one offered on eBay by seller adam-co for approx 1200$ about a year ago. Together with the dial you shall be out 2100$. These movements are virtually impossible to find. Do not want to discourage you, but like run-dmc say "it's like that, it's just the way it is".
  20. No. The 21J has a different subdial/p.r. positioning relative to the gen dial/movement. A standard ETA/Valjoux/Asia 7750 would not work with this dial. This because the power reserve complication is not available on the standard 7750's. Not sure if Panerai uses an addon Power Reserve module ala Soprod. To build a Franken with this dial your best chance would be to source a gen movement or to find out if a third party p.r. module is used above the 7750 -> source a 7750+the p.r. module (if available) and presto.
  21. I new for certain it was Andrew that wrote the email posted by the topic starter. Andrew's writing can be recognised by the use of the acronym LOL in almost every sentence typed.
