  1. From recent posts it appears that the accuracy of the SMP is getting worse (flat waves, missing 3 hour mark, screws instead of pins, HEV position) and the SMP should in my opinion be no longer in our top list. I hear very positive opinions on the HBB, TH Carrera and the new IWC Pilot. I found out that the grey color TH Link Chrono has either a flaw that has not been noticed by most people yet or TH has changed the color of the dial recently and our rep is moddeled after an old version. See http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...amp;hl=mushroom. (I compared my rep to a gen at the AD and the gen seems to be partly silver and partly mushroom while on the rep it all has the same mushroom color). I don't know about the blue version. Seems to be pretty accurate from pics that I've seen of reps compared to a gen at the AD. I wouldn't mind to see a first quarter update of the top 10. Maybe we can update it every 3 or 6 months?
  2. Last week I ended up showing my rep SMP at an Omega dealer unintentionally and posted proudly about this on the board. After a few reactions from respected members I realized that it wasn't smart to tell the salesmen it was a rep. I got lucky, but in some countries there is a risk that they seize the rep or even worse. Besides that, it's better to keep the rep world underground and to not attract attention by the gen world by showing off how good reps are these days. Anyway, enjoy your steelfish and have a nice weekend!
  3. Like I said it happened unintentionally in the first place. But in the end I
  4. Hmmm, you are right. The booz must have messed up my memory . But I still think it was a too obvious way of product placement.
  5. So this is what people call a dress watch.... Can
  6. Bought the left one today! Gonna have a very happy watchloving weekend
  7. As a matter of fact I also saw Casino Royale yesterday. Great movie, but the marketing for Omega was a bit too obvious for me. Bond litterally said
  8. The left one cost about E 100,- more and for that money you get an extra 1mm in size..
  9. Today I visited a local AD (official Omega dealer) and tried on some watches. I took off my modded SMP (gen dial & hands) and immediately the salesman started complimenting me that I had great watch and good taste (yeah, yeah, a real saleman.....). I gave him the watch for a closer look. He felt the weight, inspected the dial, looked at me, I smiled and he admitted to be a bit confused. So I told him it was a rep. Now I really got him confused and he looked again and again and told me that he only suspected the bracelet to be rep. Then I told him that the dial and hands were gen. Now he was really shocked and called his manager, but didn
  10. Thnx guys! Heading to the AD in a few minutes... Shall I leave my rep franken SMP on?
  11. Hi all, I'm thinking of buying this watch. However, the product description says "softly curved plexiglass". I'm very clumpsy with wearing watches. Mineral glass will be scratched in a few days. So how strong is plexiglass? If I'm not mistaken even the Tag Heuer Monaco and the Moonwatch have plexiglass, so I hope that means it's stronger than mineral glass..
  12. Sounds like an adventurous plan. Be very shure what you
  13. I bet this watch will even light a whole football stadium at night on his own Very sturdy Terminator watch!
  14. Geez, that's what you call affordable? Personally, I would go for a model with a movement that's not easy to replicate like for instance the Tag Heuer Moncao Chrono (only very poorly replicated with quartz mvmnt) and stay away from models that are based on ETA's like 2824, 2836, 7750, "Unitas" 6497 or "Lemania/Venus 175". Or look for a model with special functions like double chrono's and flybacks.
  15. Thnx Rob! I'll stay away from handwinding and possibly damaging the movement (only did it 2 times so far..).
  16. I wonder if we can find a press release or something 'official' to support our hypothesis.. Lemme check this tonight.... In that case we will have a rep of a limited collector's item! I'll drink to that, hahaha
  17. My 28.8k A7750 has a very strong resistance turning it clockwise and I really have to be carefull not to let it slip and screwing in the crown. Counter-clockwise it has a nice audible 'click click'. That's why I've always thought I should wind it counter-clockwise to give it some power.
