be interesting to see if pics come! i remember one time when i first found reps years ago, i found a site selling breitling emergency watches...they were pics of gen watches, but the price was right...so i emailed through the site and got pretty much the same reply as ssteel above...to go ahead and order and the exact watch was in stock, when i requested pics, i got another reply "no need for pics, watch is in stock, order now and we will send the exact watch" they seemed way too pushy to just get me to order...after some research, i found that no good rep of the emergency exsisted...so i gave up and kept looking... to the OP, ive looked on perfect clones, check this one out http://www.1-pc8838.com/omsp01003-speedmaster-date-32105200-ssss-blkwhtred-a7750-p-12981.html its similar in looks and from a TD here...

+1, also ask if they (a TD) could source one maybe? or pick a similar model they have...original box and warranty i wouldnt even risk the $70...not because its alot of cash, more so because your card would probs get cloned...

Best delivery method from UK to USA / OZ?
bamcky2k replied to dommysam's topic in General Discussion
£40?! i think thats abit off...i post items worldwide on a regular weekly basis from my ebay shop, and whenever i've sent bracelets etc of that size it costs around £2 to £3 airmail small packets, or £7 odd for international signed-for...£10 if abit heavier...a watch i sent to usa recently cost £9.80 via airsure which included tracking. airmail small packets is cheapest but perfectly fine international signed-for is ok but abit more expensive-tracking will only work in uk airsure is around same price as signed-for but is tracked all the way these are the services i use most for small items, never paid more than 10 quid. hope this helps abit! -
i had my rep seawolf pressure tested locally last year, passed the max the little machine could go to which was 100m (10atm), so no probs there...it was a great watch and i kinda regret selling it...

Timegrapher Rate Result: +13 seconds/day ....acceptable?
bamcky2k replied to billyfras's topic in General Discussion
genuine seiko automatics have a manufacturers spec of +/- 30seconds per day...longines i believe has a spec of +/- 12 on their non cosc movements...so your good to go! id rather have a movement gaining than losing, and you can also try different resting positions over night to slow it/speed it etc. good luck with your purchase -
helson do a wicked seamaster 1000m and 600m ploprof homage called the sharkmaster, acrylic lumed bezels, spot on looks etc, ive owned both a while back and they were awesome. both come on mesh and rubber as part of the package. (pics from google) also pretty much every watch rotary do is a homage/copy of something...heres the chronospeed model for around £60, its a navitimer copy and looks pretty good on the wrist, i've had a few but always end up giving them away as gifts...

most shopping mall guys or even local jewellers would just about be familiar with changing a battery...which, even on higher end stuff like breitlings or omegas etc is pretty straight forward for anyone to do...if his knowledge base didnt extend beyond that he should never have taken in the watch...did he give some disclaimer that as its a rep he couldnt be responsible if it broke? i would guess without seeing it, that he had no clue how to remove the stem, and simply pulled and forced it until it came out...it could well have then bent/snapped the setting lever and disloged the keyless works, hence the crown then simply slid in and out... glad to know its on its way to get sorted though and looking forward to reading and seeing pics of what actually happend!
-
thats sounds very odd...as been said above-if it didnt have a stem release how did he get the stem out in the first place to de-case the movement to remove the debris...? if it wasnt there to begin with it wouldnt have worked from the start since you got it...i agree its probably a keyless works issue, not a missing stem release. once all reset it will (well should...) work perfectly again...not to be rude, but is this guy an actual watchsmith or a wannabe tinker? cos the info hes given you sounds abit silly! hes hideing something he did, and if he is a good watchsmith keyless works are easily fixed and any parts needed he could order instantly and know the parts numbers needed for an eta movement... so yea, try and post a pic as sgtuk said and im sure everyone here can help and advise more! good luck!

its developed a nice patina...use it as a vintage model...

glad we could help, they are becoming a tiny bit more desireable right now due to the wave dial being totally discontinued a while back...the co-axial model is pretty cool too, but some (like me...) prefer the original version that your thinking of getting...i guess its more tool like with its printed markers etc compared to the applied logo and markers on the later versions which are more classier and dressier...they are all great and well built watches though. and yea, depending on condition, $1700 is about right at the mo...some go less, some more...the used market can be fickle on times! i once sold a new style quartz one of these for £980 in great condition with full box and papers...a month later my mate sold his and bidding went over £1100...

honestly its genuine! no good reps exsist of this model, and if you seen a rep of one you would instantly know. on the one pictured above 1. HE valve is perfect in position just above 10 o'clock marker 2. length of red tip on seconds hand is perfect and long (reps aint even half this size on times...) 3.crown guards are correct shape as they should be 4. bezel pearl is perfect 5.wave dial is spot on for this model in tone, colour etc 6. bracelet end links turn down dramatically to the first link to hug the wrist-reps dont 7.hour/min hands correct length...i could go on but no point-its 100% genuine, pull the trigger and get yourself a legendry and fantastic watch!
-
100% genuine, you have no worries its the older 2531.80 auto chronometer version. they are fantastic watches with the calibre 1120 movement.
-
in all honesty a used gen is probs the way to go...by the time you buy a gen dial, hands etc...the price would be so close to a gen used one you may aswell save and get the real deal, plus there aint really any good reps of the 300m out there to build it on-he valve position would be wrong, case shop all wrong etc it really would be more trouble than its worth i reckon. keep searching ebay, forums and the like and they do come up, some go for alot less than its blue or black counterparts too...

316L /316F steel? Most reps have little scratch resistance
bamcky2k replied to Smab's topic in General Discussion
ive used 0.5 micron diamond paste and a buffing wheel on a rotary tool to get steel to a mirror finish again...avoid contact with any brushed areas though as they will turn mirror finish too...finish off with some silvo wadding and a micro fibre cloth to complete. gives a smooth finish and removes any scratches. others will probs chime in too with other suggestions. -
you wont go wrong with any of those choices! id go for the seawolf personally, less complicated than the chronos...also i can recommend the new superocean 44-its spot on accurate to gen, i sold mine cos i bought the gen not long after-it inspired me that much! as for the lume, they all have rep "superlume" as far as i know, the c1 and c3 refers to luminova which i doubt the reps have despite what is written. as a note though c1 is like an aqua blue colour, c3 is green. all the reps you mention plus the superocean 44 will have good lume compared to older reps and thats the main thing. i would suggest you dont get a leather strap from china...they are often poor quality...look at brands such as hirsch for some top notch well priced leather straps.some mimicking the design of gen breitling straps. good luck and happy hunting!
-
i would advise NOT contacting them to inform them you know its a replica...you would be openly admitting that you were importing counterfeit goods...probably wouldnt have the best outcome for you! i would just ignore the letters, deny all knowledge, and get the next sent via a different address-a good friend/family etc...

seamaster 2541.80 restored by omega...and a great job they did too...

cheers mate, its a waiting game now to see if he recovers...i knew flu could be bad but never thought it could be this awful. he went from being an active 60+ year old to not being able to lift his limbs, move or breath for himself in the space of 48hrs...he's stable on life support right now, but as the days and weeks are going on its starting to not look good. positive thoughts though and all that thanks again for the comments everyone, bamcky2k -
