Its "AN UNAUTHORIZED HISTORY ROLEX WRISTWATCHES" by James M Dowling. Yes and no it really has good info for early watches and dress watches not so good for the sport models.
I've noticed that this is a popular watch to mod. Well heres my CN 1680 wanted a MBW but $600 was too steep I've got $235 in this one ( GEN Crystal) $50.00. I also think this watch has a more accurate date font.
I've recently become interested in gold reps. While they cant be worn every day they are still a desirable addition to your rep collection. I know some will not want to post pics for fear of negative critiquing so no critiquing just pictures.
Well can anyone comment on 18k Rolex cases?
According to Rolex "Genuine (gold) Rolex watches are made from solid gold parts from the case, right down to the bracelet screws." But if you stop and think how much gold it takes to make a 36mm watch thats almost unbelievable.
If you only wear a certain watch on special occasions like weddings ect Im thinking it should last for a very long time. What if you wore it every day? Would it last 6 months maybe a year? Im having a hard time believing that a rolex case can be solid 18k. Besides the considerable cost $680 a ounce theres also the problem of 18k being very soft. Does anyone know how rolex does this?
I know this watch has some issues that said this is one very impressive watch. The dial printing is next to perfect, the quality of the warped gold is excellent and the date mag is perfect 2.5. Again this watch offers very impressive build quality. Inspecting it gives a feeling and impression of Swiss not Chines. As with most all fakes there are issues but this watch really does impress.
I recently purchased 2 1680 plastic crystals $100 and a couple of months back a 18k crown for my GMT transitional. These guys are awesome they ship fast and sell nothing but GEN products.
I can say that I know for sure that my sub has a Sapphire. I recently posted pics of this when I cut off the cyclops. At one point I used a hammer and a screw driver. Funny thing is it was more like working with metal than glass. Sparks were flying and It had a kind of sulfur smell. One thing I did notice was that the cyclops is NOT sapphire. It shattered and scratched. I cant say that a cyclops in a GEN rolex is a sapphire as mine are all plastic crystals. I have a date just on order from Andrew I hope this watch has a sapphire. Have any of you bought watches from him that you know not to have sapphires?
This is all true I just thought it would be a cool cheap every day watch.
LOL, I live in Indiana. We have hardly any water and I don’t think theres any middle income people left.
I know these watches are mostly for teeny boppers but this one has so much character what are your opinions?

I was at the official rolex dealer a couple of weeks ago. Although I’ve been there many times for servicing I never really paid much attention to the new ones as I was not in the market for one. Last time I did ask to see a new gmt and sure enough the mag is less powerful Id say 2.0 my 1680 and probably all plastic crystal watches are 2.5 if not a little more they fill the entire magnifier up.
Im trying to stay out of this but I feel the need to express my view on this.
NONE OF YOU CAN TAKE YOUR FAKE TO THE OFFICIAL DEALER WITH OUT BEING INSTANTLY EXPOSED and shown the door !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NONE OF YOU CAN WEAR YOUR FAKE AROUND FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT HAVE GENS WITH OUT THE POTENTIAL OF EMBARRASSMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#1 Most rolex replicas are sub par. That said there are some really nice reps out there that only need moderate mods to fool most people.
#2 Simple fact is that ALL reps are inaccurate
I think some feel that if they wear a lesser known watch they are safe from being exposed. This untrue!!! As I have read on here many times. Most recently a member stated he was waiting around at his local BMW dealer with what he thought was a good replica (non rolex) to his surprise a he was called out by a another costumer!!!
Theres no replica watch out of the box you can take to a dealer and not be called out instantly. Thats what it boils down to.
Ok well I have to say that the recent GMT MASTER II I received from a UK auction site has dials that are unbelievable. These dials are beautiful!!!!!!!!
