If you have a dremel drill press you could use calipers to mark the exact location to drill. If you cant do that you could always drill another set as long as your VERY careful. If you chose this you would have to change spring bars and adjust end links. You cold always just drill some dummy holes 3/4 the way through. Have fun looks like you've already took the back off the watch so youll probably have no problem as a modder.
Looks to be a fairly nice watch. The only thing I see that stands out is the acrylic crystal stands a little high and date mag is a little low. My first gen was a 77 TT maxi dial. This model may accept a gen crystal but you need to take the bezel off to be sure. Lug holes are a problem.
Will a gen after market crystal fit Joshua's daytona? I tested a gen crystal from a 16610 and it fit. The newer reps are using gen style crystals beveled edge and plastic seal.
Ad states it will accept a VJ72 so it must be a copy of that case look at the measurements. That or theres two cases on the market that accept a VJ72 now.
Sorry for the comment. Its just we all have to start out somewhere. That watch with a nice dial, date wheel and a better date mag would be a pretty nice watch. Im not sure if hes seeking to be a modder. I imagine he is since hes posting here.
Micky your a idiot!! Yes the dial, date wheel and date mag suck. The case, crown guards, deep rehaut and bracelet are nice. You could mod this watch with a new dial, date wheel and it would go along way to making it a nice watch. The only major unchangeable flaw is the lack of rehault thickness. This watch uses the older style crystal.
WOW, your gen has a silver date wheel. Please post close up shots of this. Mines a circa 1972 white with a white date wheel. Im very interested to see the color of silver rolex used (whether its gloss or flat). As with most watches posted on the net he didn't post close up pics of the silver date wheel so it remains a mysterious rolex anomaly.
Really nice original watch. I not sure if this watch came with a silver date wheel though. I know my 1972 1680 has a white date wheel so I really doubt a 1977 would have a silver date wheel.

" Rolex Chrono clan" Impressive collection of predaytona's. If Im not mistaken those are the 37mm models that Andrew use to carry. I missed out, I ordered two and Andrew tried but he couldn't source anymore. Ive seen some on U.K auction sites but their incorrect in size. Those predaytona's are probably the most accurate early daytona that Andrew/Josh carried.
I have both 14k TT subs from andrew. The gold is very close beautiful watch.
Watchmaker9s sub is unbelievable but its $700. http://www.watchmaker9.tv/products/rolex_0...riner_16613.htm
Got mine today. Just realized I didnt screw crown in for the pics. Ill take some more pics with crown screwed in. The crown guards are pretty good. Allot better than the dealer pics.

"we all NEED to know its source" I'm going to bet he either travels to the far east on business or he got it from one of two U.K. auction sites. Theres a gentlemen on there that only takes bank wires and his reps are $700/$2000. His stuff is impressive but I dont feel comfortable sending a bank wire.
