  1. Just get the black seamaster. That's a nice looking watch. The speedmaster is too small.
  2. I think I have to get this watch. It looks pretty sweet.
  3. I love that 201a. I might have to get it.
  4. Those were the infancy days of my rephood when I bought the same watch from Eddie from ioffer for $450. Oh, how things have improved and the prices dropped.
  5. That's the old H version with the thin pin swan neck. That's available from our dealers.
  6. Sign me up for one of those big boys.
  7. What's the price range? I'm interested but I don't know what the ballpark is for something like this.
  8. Now that is the ultimate Panerai. How does the bezel feel? Is it a tight click?
  9. The movement looks great. Hopefully they come up with a swiss version. I'll wait a little longer to see if one comes.
  10. That's a nice looking watch. The quartz movement doesn't bother me as I would prefer it over an asian 7750. Plenty of genuine Tag's come with quartz movements, and this model doesn't say automatic on the face, so in my mind, it could be correct.
  11. The FM is a great choice. I have a 2892 conquistador and was thinking also about getting a FM for my wife. My wife actually did also say that she didn't like the PP 24 b/c it looked too square and like an old ladies watch. I bought it anyway b/c it was so highly rated by people here and Patek Philippe is the Rolls Royce of the watch world. She loves it. It is much larger looking and wider in person than it does in the pictures and looks like a bright thick shiny bracelet. It is her formal occasion watch. The chanel is definetly a statement watch. It is very hip. She has gotten so many compliments about the watch b/c it looks cool and there is nothing else like it. It's also quartz so it is highly reliable. Woman don't care about movements being automatic.
  12. The 2 best ladies reps are the patek 24 and chanel j12 from River hands down.
  13. I got one for my wife. It's spectacular. The diamonds aren't missaligned. I would send it back for a new one if they were missaligned.
  14. That is not normal for the 2892. It's broken.
  15. I agree completely with the eye.surgeon. I don't think anyone would ever question any of my watches b/c they know what I do. They are quiet shocked when I tell them that they are reps, partly b/c I could afford a gen (but not 10 gens like my reps), and partly b/c these eta reps are so damn good.
  16. I had the same thoughts about my collection as you. I could have a gen for all that I've spent. The problem now is that I can now afford a gen, but if I spend to money to get one, I'm going to feel like it deserves most of my wrist time, so all the nice reps I have will be wasted.
  17. The only thing keeping me from getting the seawolf is the 300m on the back instead of 3000m. I know it's anal, but it bugs me.
  18. I was debating whether or not to send my red sub to him for crown guard work and a relume right before he announced his illness. The price for the crown guard work seemed reasonable, but the relume was double the price that The Zigmeister charges. That slowed me down enough to allow all of this to unfold. Well, thank God! I hate to say it, but with asthma, when you have a really bad attack, you are hospitalized BRIEFLY to get it under control. When you are sent home, you are managed on inhalers and oral medications to keep it under control. If it's not so bad that you don't have to be at the hospital, there is no contraindication to working on watches, in my medical opinion. Maybe he's been in the hospital for 2 months? Well, what do I really know. I missed the lecture on watch mods and respiratory conditions in med. school. Sorry, but I would be [censored] if I was asked for ransom to get my watch back.
  19. That's a sweet watch. I've handled a real solid gold FM Master Banker and it is HEAVY. This watch is probably the same.
  20. I just emailed River so I can get one for the wife to complement the j12 I just got her from him.
  21. The explorer I is one of the closest to genuine you can get since it's such a simple watch. There is no date mag issue or font issue. There are no display back issues. There are no crown guard issues.
  22. The black joshua rep is more accurate than the silver faced one b/c on the genuine black face, the red paint does in fact extend a tiny bit onto the shaft. One the genuine silver faced one, only the tip is red. The black joshua rep. would be perfect I think were it not for the slightly small crown.
  23. Nice article. It's a keeper.
  24. I have the 2892 from Joshua. I had it waterproof tested by my watchsmith and it passed.
  25. The bracelet on the 2824 model is awfull. I have that version and had to swap it out for a strap b/c the screws all get loose. They need loctite. I didn't need loctitie on the 2892 new version. I believe the 8001 is an older model. The new dial is so much better. Notice the lack of lume on the 8001.
