  1. I got it because I wanted a Patek and it's the best Patek rep. out there. Eddie had a good Calatrava, but I didn't like the fact it was very light, gold plated, and had an Asian movement. This one has an ETA 2824, and has a good weight for it's size. It looks great with a suit.
  2. I bought my wife a white one from River. It's solid ceramic of very high quality. It has a swiss quartz movement as well. I got it without the box set for under $400. She doesn't take it off. I highly recommend it.
  3. I have a guy I use in Vernon Hills, which is about 45 minutes north of Chicago. He's a third generation watchsmith from Belarus and is funny as hell. When I brought in a Pam replica for him to work on, he told me a Chicago Bears player recently brought 2 in to work on, and they were also reps. I'll PM you the info.
  4. That watch is a beauty. I would get it in a second if it didn't have the asian 7750. I would prefer it with a 2824 or 2836 even if the 7750 was the more correct movement.
  5. Thanks for the quick answers. That kinda sucks that they don't just drop in. Oh, well, there goes that project.
  6. I'm getting bored of my 036 and am thinking about changing the dial. I thought I read before that Davidsen's dials need a little modification to fit a standard case. I've emailed him a couple of times about this but haven't gotten an answer. Anyone know?
  7. I like it. I have the regular sized Nautilus rep.
  8. My wife makes fun of my rep. collection but hasn't taken off her J12 since I got it for her. I got it from River before the the prices went sky high for the top quality one. Ceramic is extremely scratch proof, but it can chip. It is being used in hip replacements as a bearing material because it wears very slowly. It's not the best choice for a hip replacement in someone that is pretty active because if they chip it, they're screwed.
  9. I've never had a problem with bezel swirl marks from winding. Use some hand lotion man.
  10. The watch might not look perfect, but it looks awesome. I've been thinking about this watch also. I want a chrono panerai, but am afraid of the asian movement. You can't go wrong with the swiss movement as I think it must be the same base movement. I don't regret the purchase of my 029 with the 2893 movement as it's the same base movement and is very reliable. The lume is probably the standard weak stuff. If you can afford it, I say go for it.
  11. Now can you find a picture with Dr. Shepard and his Daytona? I couldn't find a good one on Google images.
  12. XRT, that was a compliment. My friend who is a radiologist is going to make high 6 figures when he is a full partner which is significantly more than I can make in my current job situation as an orthopaedic surgeon.
  13. Hey, XRT, are you a radiologist? That's the best money to effort ratio of all medical specialties. Or is it rad/onc?
  14. I've never seen a rep with the correct length GMT hand, which this watch has. The crystal is also the proper height as the reps have a lower sitting crystal. I'm pretty sure this is real. The story does scream scam, however. "I got this watch from my dead uncle's brother's sister during my divorce from my wife so I don't know much about it, but my sister's aunt who can spell Rolex says it's real."
  15. Good neurosurgeons can make 1-2 million a year. Cardiac surgeons make 500k+. They used to make over a million until the development of stents which the cardiologists put in, taking away the major source of bypass surgeries for the cardiac surgeons. There were residents I knew that had Rolexes but they were graduation gifts. The preferred hospital pimp watch for the doctors that want to show off how successfull they are is the blue two-tone Rolex sub. The older ones that are in their 60's wear two-tone datejusts. I did see an internist wearing a red sub, which I assumed was real. An anesthesiologist that I recently worked with who is in his early 50's was sporting a Breitling Seawolf with a rubber strap. I think he was surprised that I knew what it was. He said it was his sailing watch. He was a little less happy when I told him they sell them at Cosco. When I'm nailing interns, I prefer to wear a titanium Panerai. The large watch face let's me quickly assess how much time I have left, and the light weight doesn't slow me down.
  16. I noticed that Preston Burke was sporting a Panerai and Derek Shepard was wearing a Daytona. In my medical opinion those are damn nice watches to be wearing while screwing interns in the hospital.
  17. The insert isn't bad. I'd say you're done now.
  18. I hope you've never heard those words in the bedroom.
  19. That was not a rep, my friend. You just had an encounter with the infamous, Jetmid.
  20. If the bezel is tight, then I want one. Everything else looks great about the watch. I've been staying away from reps with rotating bezels because the ones I've had a sloppy bezels which cries out rep.
  21. How does the bezel click feel? Is it tight or sloppy?
