  1. I've been asking for the King version for years. Tried one on in Venice a couple of years ago.
  2. As offensive and stereotyped as your comment about Stephen Yan is, I almost [censored] in my pants laughing. The early days of cooking shows were pretty darn funny. Stephen Yan, Justin Wilson, Julia Child---I remember the days. Then Paul Prudhomme and Emeril came around. I'm a total Food Network junkie, but the best "food" show isn't even on the Food Network. Top Chef is one of the best shows period!
  3. I'll agree with Rocket on this one. The Angus ultimate 111h would be my pick!
  4. One thing is for sure, they didn't stick it in the oven.
  5. Good thing mine doesn't have this problem. For those who do, I'm guessing it's a pretty easy mod to do. Had anyone done this mod?
  6. I agree. I wish the 111h wasn't a display back. No comparison in the finish of the movement between a gen and a rep. Give me a 005 with a sandwich dial and I'm happy. With the inconsistency of crown guards on pams from series to series, most ADs wouldn't have a clue about them. The CG on mine was VERY close to that of the gen. Anyone have a modded Pam 10D they are looking to sell??? I think that will be my next purchase.
  7. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I think the pics are fantastic. I'm not even remotely a vintage guy, but I do like to see where Panerai was historically. The only historic model I like is the Egyptian. 50mm with a sandwich dial and that lovely crownguard. Makes me want to buy this:
  8. I put my watch next to an H series gen on Saturday. There was no difference in the spacing of LSwissMadeL. I saw little difference in the font color under bright office lights. Here is the best gen pics I could find for your reference. I don't see any difference between my CG and the gen. I serious could not tell my watch from the gen. Mine (you can get a BIG) pic by clicking and going to my photo album) Gen Not to beat a dead horse, but I think the H series is very accurate. Cutting a template from the gen sandwich dial is very easy to do. Painting a sausage dial is not.
  9. Just to name a few dial flaws you probably have overlooked - the font should be yellowish off white instead of clear white Marginal and overrated complaint - Luminor Marina is too big Impossible to tell - L SWISS MADE L is positioned too close to the 6 Not on my watch - the bar of the 'A's are too low Marginal complaint at best - the shape of the 3, 6 and 9 are different 3 is perfect, 6 might be a little slim, there is no 9 scoobs????? There isn't an AD in the world that could tell my watch is a rep if it remained on my wrist, but then again I have a pretty special watch that was sourced by TTK in very small numbers some time ago (not by me--just ask Star)
  10. I compared my 111h with a gen last weekend and didn't see a single difference with the dial. The finish on the movement isn't terribly accurate, but then what rep movement is? Judge for yourself
  11. Might just have to get my 187 double coated. It's being superlumed as we speak by the master. I really haven't been too hung up on AR, that is until I got my 111h which has stellar AR. Price??? Turnaround time???? How hard is it to take out a crystal from a 187 and then replace it once it's been coated?
  12. My Asian SFSO has remained bone dry after a whole summer of swimming in a pool, hottubbing, diving, and washing the car. I was willing to take a chance with a $115 watch. I think it was money well spent for sure. The stem on this thing is so long I don't know how water would get in if screwed down all the way and having the caseback secure. For the waterproofness alone, I'll never get rid of this watch. Doesn't get any wrist time except when water is on the agenda.
  13. Great watch. I can't belive how thick it is on a wrist. My AD has the Blacksteel version, which I tried on. He wouldn't sell it to me. He said it is a safe queen. I think he's fooling himself. It might be a LE watch, but I don't think it's going to shoot up in value.
  14. Wearing my first stitchless leather strap. Didn't think I'd like it. I was wrong. Strap is so supple, thick, and rich.
  15. Make me miss my Ingy a bit. It really is a very nice watch. Feels exactly like a gen. ETA movement. Maybe I too will get my 187 crystal AR coated. It's being lumed by The Zigmeister as we speak.
  16. Good choice. Give Don a try as well. He often has specials on very nice straps.
  17. Looks pretty nice, but I question how a watch could be shipped with a faulty handwind movement. I just don't get it.
  18. I'm pretty sure that both the hands and dial are light blue on the gen.
  19. There are literallly hundereds of possibilities. You need to look for straps with larger holes or oval holes to accomodate a tang buckle. Your buckle is 22mm so you should be looking for 24/22 straps. Here are links to some great strap manufacturers: http://www.homestead.com/rlx/DON.html http://www.waccex.de/catalog/index.php?cPa...amp;language=en http://www.europelli.com/ http://www.timeconnection.biz/ I'm a huge fan on the first two sellers.
  20. Nice pickup. I couldn't go less than 44mm, but at least you got a great movement. I love pam chronos!
  21. I'm not sure why it wouldn't go all the way to the lug end either. My biggest complaint about most bony croc straps is that they put two different hides together to make the strap. HKtan and ABP are the only makers I've seen that use only the full bony hide. Maybe there are others.
  22. Walter gators are very nice. I had a honey tan a couple of years back. I'd like to get a bony croc soon. I would also consider this gator (Bob/WAACEX) in Dark Aubergine. Well made, thick, and great stitching.
  23. Lume is pretty bad. Everything else is pretty good. Great AR on a sapphire crystal. Awesome feel to the watch!
