..although I think you'd have a valid claim with the item that was sitting waiting for me when I got home today (Details to follow, watch dealer review and maybe 'Rep v Gen'. 'Robins Nest-u-raunt' - aye, very good )

20mm lugs. It's true though that this is the best 45mm case out there at the moment, but then it has been out there for a wee while....

Swiss Eta Valjoux 7750 - Is This The Right One?
r11co replied to Category 5's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I wouldn't give you $5 for one of them 21,000 BPH models are discernable by the non-functioning fine regulator. These are the ones The Zigmeister refuses to service! -
Swiss Eta Valjoux 7750 - Is This The Right One?
r11co replied to Category 5's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Be even more careful. The '7753 copy' Pug is referring to should really be described as a lookalike as it is a bodged 7750 with a couple of transfer wheels added to make it function visually like a 7753 for reps that need that configuration. Datewheel will be in the wrong location and be too far from the dial though. This movement cannot be used as a replacement for a genuine 7753. It can however be used for a replacement for a 7750 if the transfer wheels are removed and the hand wheels swapped over, but why would anyone want to? -
Use your eyes, friend! The Silix one is cheaper than cheap because it is quite inaccurate - bezel colour, caseback design and datewheel colour being some of the more obvious flaws (although peculiarly it has probably the most authentic looking pearl design of all the ones I have seen). Silix have better models than this on their Prime site. As for the other two, they are different models so you are not really comparing like-for-like. The latest generation 42mm Planet Ocean (as sold by Andrew and Aspire) is exceptionally visually accurate (see here). I won't go into the various merits/demerits of the dealers concerned, but Paul/Aspire is selling this piece for an exceptional price and there are plenty of posts regarding satisfied customers of Aspire at the moment. Do be aware of his repair/return policy though. As for the 45mm, I'm keeping my mouth shut

Thanks, but they are all $$ prices, so it's going to be silly shipping costs....
-
Which is bad enough IMO. There is no point deliberately sticking one's head above the radar.

Dunno if ebay will see it that way... Intellectual Property Rights OK, a bit hypocritical I know, but using the same name on ebay as here is idiotic. If the snoopers come looking it leaves a trail straight to us FFS!!!

I'm looking for a watch box to take 6 watches. Nothing fancy necessarily. Though I might snag one of WatchPrince's tasty looking 'seconds' but the bargain price isn't such a bargain when you add $90 for shipping UK or Europe, or is anyone in here upgrading to a bigger, flashier box and wants to sell me their old one? (I would have put this in the traders section under watch requests, but it isn't a watch request...... )

Who Sells Good But Cheap Price Submariner Inserts?
r11co replied to purspeed's topic in The Rolex Area
Tell you what - why don't you do it and post up your results! This site relies on contributions from members, both in terms of financial support and informative posts. No-one is being paid to produce such information so if you sit around waiting for someone else to do it you might be waiting a while. Why not buy the parts, take some pictures, show some willing to at least do some of the work yourself, post your pics and see what kind of help gets offered. Sitting on your [censored] waiting for a pre-packaged solution and moaning that one doesn't come along usually results in disappointment. -
Closer and closer, but still no Cohiba...

I know what you are up to Neil But if you reckon that's as good as the 45's are getting then I'll just have to keep my powder dry and save a few extra sheckles for a real one. If a 22mm rubber strap can't get between those lugs then it is no use to me....
-
Well, now that I don't have to go getting myself a GMT in order to 'keep up', I'll have the money to spend on one of your POs (Rubber strap, please! Oh, and if its the same 45 that the rest have got I'm no interested....)
-
It would appear more and more likely that this is the case! Interesting u-turn for Omega. A watch that a few months ago they were saying was going to be phased out because it didn't have the Co-Axial movement now seems to be getting a fresh promotion boost. Or perhaps this marks the launch of a Co-Axial version...? More questions than answers.....
-
It's the same as Paul's, with the same flaws. Lugs 20mm apart (as per 42mm case) rather than correct 22mm. The bezel scalloping is wrong for the version also. The watch is essentially the Asian 45mm case with an ETA dropped in. Actually takes the watch further away from visual accuracy compared to the Asian as the movement beat of the 2824 is incorrect. The 42mm is a far better replica of its genuine counterpart. Paying more for what is a far poorer but merely bigger rep is nuts IMO. If you've gotta have a PO get the 4th Gen. 42mm. If you've gotta have a 45mm now buy the Asian for half this money.

A turd is a turd, regardless of how cheap it is! I've seen $90 watches from other dealers that are (i) more aesthetically pleasing and (ii) more than acceptably visually accurate, rep-wise. This is neither.

This just in... That's a recent reshoot of the original publicity shot from the end of last year. Major changes are DC's hair do and the watch (switched from the rubber strap Planet Ocean in the original picture). Proof that he'll be wearing a SS banded watch for the tux scenes. PS. This shot was allegedly leaked from Omega's promotions department and is apparently going to be used in their publicity material. I suspect that the blurring is intentional to keep the mystique up a little longer. Am I mistaken or can I see a fuzzy extra red hand on that face? Edit - I've just seen the (embargoed) press release that goes with the picture. The watch is named as the "Seamaster 300 M Diver Chronometer", so no GMT after all it seems....
-
... and it's another Omega. Olympic The one Neil posted looked, well, masculine. This looks like a kiddies toy.
-
I don't know which ones you've been looking at, but I've seen 7750 based reps of these with the date in the correct place although sunken, which is an unavoidable consequence of the 'faux 7753' transfer wheel conversion. The reps look excellent - the movement should 'pass' as the rotor has been well dressed to look like the original. Black faced ones still have white datewheels though. Scan our usual dealers for details....

Is there a 'toys out the pram' emoticon?

Hmmm. My experience of students is that they generally believe the history of the world began the day they were born....

This should be in the Auction Scams section.

Simple solution - replace the clasp spring for a genuine one (a worthwhile upgrade on all rep SMPs). The spring is about £5 from Cousins, but you will also need a bracelet link pin removal tool to fit it.
