  1. I don't remember if it was the same store (are they an Omega AD, Omni?) but I have a similar experience from my one and only visit to Vegas and a watch shop at The Venetian. I was eyeing up the SMPs and a salesman spotted my ubiquitous but now increasingly rare '99% perfect' rep. He said "I see you already have one!" to which I replied that I did and I was just checking their prices! Rather than throw me out ( ) he noticed immediately from my accent I was from the UK and said he could probably beat the prices I was used to seeing by at least 30%!! I had little intention of buying, but the salesman's candidness and helpfulness was a refreshing change from the usual anals you find working in AD's.
  2. oooooh, don't get me started! There's been a fair bit of controversy about the choice of Daniel Craig, not to mention a fair bit of false gutter press about him. All I'll say is wait to see him on-screen. He has a presence, manner and voice that is just a class above every other actor who has played the part.
  3. Paul/Aspire started carrying this one two weeks ago. It is a rubbish rep of an ugly gen - wrong bezel font, wrong face colour, wrong caseback and poor clasp engraving. Duff strap with cheap solid end links too. This one fixes the face and bezel, but that's about it. Still fugly.
  4. Who has the best (green) Sub...? There's one in my fridge that's been there a few months.
  5. I think what he meant to say was prices starting from $108...
  6. Hmmm! I advise caution. Paul's spelling appears far too good in the above post!!
  7. You don't have to look far to find that. Try Robb's Celebs.
  8. OK, found the thread, but I am surprised no-one has noticed the most glaring flaw of them all!! The caseback says 'Speedmaster'.
  9. King has one.. A 7750 based SMP chrono has the potential to be spot on. This first gen looks a bit ropey though - back to the cheap single-piece end links, the bezel design is just weird and the CG's are fat! Still - hope it is a sign of what is to come.
  10. When did you change your name to Darius??
  11. Looks identical to the one Paul/Aspire started carrying yesterday! A 'return to quality' SMP's with decent bracelets again!
  12. Come on folks, get some perspective here! Our community is a proverbial [censored] in the ocean compared to the number of players (sellers and buyers) in the rep watch market. OK, so there's a chance it is someone we know, but panicking over this is a bit premature and over-reactionary.
  13. I've replied to your post in the Photo Gallery section. If I were you Space I'd be wanting recourse for your watch being different from the one the dealer was advertising before considering doing the datewheel exchange yourself!!
  14. I don't want to rock the boat, but I'd be taking this up with Andrew. The watch shown in the pictures on his site (the same pictures he posted in the dealers section) clearly show this watch with a BLACK datewheel. You've been sent a previous generation version of the watch (one that is available from another dealer I won't name for half the price of the latest generation!!). If you paid the price as shown on Trustytime or close to it then get onto Trusty about this before you even think about fiddling with the watch movement.
  15. Aspire Blue SMP GMT The 5-piece end link is back! The clasp is engraved once again instead of laser etched. A display back is also fitted as per the real thing (shame the movement is wrong, although fitting a 2893 style rotor would go 90% of the way to sorting the look, if not the functionality). This looks like a good piece - the best of its kind so far. Shame about the HE valve and CG's...
  16. I don't think the movements we call 'Miyota' actually come from the Citizen group factories. Instead I believe they are manufactured by the 'Seagull' operation that gran uncovered a load of information about. Seagull do not hide the fact that their movements are intended to emulate the dimensions and characteristics of other movements - including their own 'ETA 28xx' like series. I wouldn't be at all surprised if so called 'Asian' ETA movements (including officially sanctioned ones, for ETA do indeed assemble movements outside Switzerland) are in fact produced under license by Seagull or a similar company. With respect to Asian movements in general, I have indeed had nothing but good experiences with them. Any problems I have had with watches have been down to poor assembly or quality control issues, or my own cack-handedness when attempting repairs.
  17. Got to say the film actually improved on the book for me - re-arranging some of the events to create a sensible ending. The book is a good story very poorly written and just sort of fizzled out at the end.
  18. This isn't really a problem at all. All Omega watches that come mid-size and full size versions have this characteristic where the date window will be further from the 3 o'clock marker on the full size face. This is because the movements are generally identical in both versions. In fact the mid-size SMPs dispense with the 3 o'clock marker completely because of this trait!
  19. There's no such thing (except perhaps if you include the genuine, which uses a modified Valjoux 7750). Sometimes this 'ETA is best' obsession gets to ridiculous levels - even to the point when people say you are better off with a watch that doesn't exist over one that does... The replica 090's use a movement that shares more than a passing resemblance to an ETA 2892, although it is unquestionably of Asian origin, and is terribly reliable and accurate. I know because I am wearing mine right now...
  20. No, it was the pizza with prawns and pineapple.....
  21. That's the funniest thing I have read today! Having served my time behind the counter (paying my way in the family business!) I am now feeling queasy thinking of some of the crap people would pay to eat. I think the weirdest was an oven pizza topped with tuna, pickled onions and brown sauce.....
  22. Typical tight-arsed east-coaster. Don't visit edge at mealtimes expecting something to eat. He'll just look at his watch and say "You'll have had your tea then...?!"
  23. Been there and done that! Rusty Watch I should add that the watch is now a little peach and my daily beater! Been dropped in a few buckets of water too and still as clean and dry inside as the day I fixed it!!
  24. If it is a 'perfect' 45mm one you want, don't even bother starting for the moment. There's a 45mm rep case out there but the lugs are too close together to fit the correct 22mm bracelet which isn't available as a rep part anyway!! The flaw isn't so obvious if you fit a leather or rubber strap, but it is still going to be fundamentally wrong.... I am resisting purchasing any more PO's beyond the 'cheap and cheerful' 45mm Asian I already have. Consumer power and resisting buying the flawed ones is the only way we will force an improvement!!
